Suffocating a soul Abortion continues to persist as one of the most controversial topics talked about today. One usually takes the title of pro-life or pro-choice which represents either side of the controversy. People who consider themselves pro-life believe abortion is equal to murder. They say abortion kills the fetus which will soon become a human. Most of the discussion comes forth here. Pro-choice believe one should have the choice to terminate their fetus. They also say the fetus has not yet formed into a living baby so it is morally accepted by them to murder the fetus. Abortion should not remain a choice just because one made a mistake or the baby would remind them of a painful time in their life. The problem builds because most women take the decision lightly, not fully understanding what the process consists of. The law that introduced legal abortions was first challenged in 1970 by a woman from Texas, Norma McCorvey. Norma McCorvey took the name “Jane Roe,” in the court case “Roe versues Wade,” to protect her identity. She already had two children and did not want to keep her third child because she claimed, during the court case, that she had endured gang rape; later she confessed this statement to be untrue. The law legalizing abortion was enacted after she already had her baby, so she gave her baby up for adoption and kept also the baby's identity a secret. Her attorneys used her to advance their own agenda; they also deliberately confused and lied to her
