Another reason we need to relax is because we have one of the best defenses in the league! We have the best middle linebacker combination in Thomas Davis and Luke Kuechly wreaking havoc in opponents back fields. Bill Polian said Luke Kuechly is “the Peyton Manning of defenses” that praise is definitely warranted in his four years in the NFL he already has 453 tackles and seven interceptions absolutely ridiculous! Thomas Davis has himself overcome three ACL surgeries and come back better than ever. Those two guys are enough for me to still be confident in what this team can accomplish despite the recent blow on the offensive side of the ball. Along with Davis and Kuechly we have great complementary players including Charles Johnson, Josh Norman,
The fact that most professional athlete get paid more than the president is crazy. Why are professional athletes paid so much? One of the reason for that is marginal revenue. Marginal revenue is the additional Revenue gained from selling one more unit. So, every time a consumer demands one more unit, the Firm sells one more unit and the revenue goes up by exactly the same amount equal to the market price. Basically, the players produce millions and the get a nice paycheck for their contribution because the labor profits the owners and anyone else who depends on the team success. Marginal revenue does not change as the players produce more output because the amount paid is determined by supply and demand and does not change as players play more.
NFL players get paid $420,000 a week. They get paid about 135 million dollars in 5 years. You buy your tickets and are looking for the place you get to see. The crowd is roaring inside the big stadium. The smoke is rising as your favorite football team walks out onto the field. Football is a fun sport to watch, but the football players are getting paid too much.
Should we pay to let them play Sports in our country is one of the main pillars of America as a whole, without sports this country wouldn’t be what it is today. Sports are important in the lives of all Americans because those participating in the sport are trained not only on a competitive physical level, but are taught such important traits such as leadership, loyalty and determination. A team sport such as football, I believe truly amplifies what it means to demonstrate the above listed character traits. In a sport such as football, you need quality leadership skills if you want to achieve anything on the field. I believe that young kids playing football are taught to always work hard and give their best, although nothing is guaranteed or a given.
The four requirements to become a firefighter or a police officer at the age of 21 is to have a clean record, a driver’s license, a high school diploma, and 9 weeks of successful training. The skill of all great professional athletes is unmatched and training usually starts at youth. Athletes take numerous risks just for the sake of our entertainment, and this is routinely overlooked as a result of the amount of money that they are making. Therefore, people who do not watch a great deal of sports are distracted by the $30 million that Kobe Bryant is making, or the $75 million that Floyd Mayweather is paid, and they forget what athletes have done for others. These athletes are forced to train exceptionally hard to be the best at
Gracie was in the final round of her gymnastics competition. The judges were announcing the first place winner now. “...... in second place. And last but not least, in first place….. Gracie!!” Gracie jumped in the air as her ponytail began flopping on her head. She ran up to get her trophy. After all this, she looked around and noticed that second place, third place, fourth place, fifth place, all the way down to last place were all awarded trophies that all looked exactly the same. Every detail... the foot high structure with the stars at the top, the blue lettering spelling out “great job” in the middle, the coloring, were ALL the same. Suddenly, she did not feel as much of a winner. She wondered why the people who did not work hard, goofed around during practice, and fell more than once during their routine got the same reward as she did… the one who worked hard everyday. The one who took her preparation very seriously. The one who practiced for perfection each day. So, why should inattentive people be rewarded with the same thing as the dedicated people? Why should athletes work hard when they know that everyone will get a trophy anyway? Of course, there
The biggest question in collegiate sports right now is should players get paid to play? Some argue it would destroy the amateurism in collegiate sports. If they are paid then they should be considered professionals. Others say it would help the students be able to support themselves while they are in college. They are getting a free education from a top university isn’t that enough? No and that’s why I say yes and that collegiate athletes should get paid to play sports because money is being made from the use of their talents and exploitation of their likeness.
Have you ever thought of sports more than entertainment? Well sports are more than just entertainment. Sports can be an occupation,a hobby, and even a lifestyle. It may sound weird for the people that thinks sports are useless. Professional athletes play sports for a living and make good money through sponsorships and contracts.
“Recently, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and CBS/Turner Sports signed a contract for $10.8 billion to broadcast March Madness for the next thirteen years” (Harnett). Last year March Madness exceeded one billion dollars topping the total revenue for the NFL postseason (Walker). March Madness is the most important three weekends for college basketball. People from all over the world travel hundreds of miles to watch these basketball games. The athletes playing in these games are not a part of a professional sports team. They are students at different universities across the United States. These athletes receive athletic scholarships, but with the NCAA and universities earning such huge profits should college athletes get paid? I believe the answer is yes; student-athletes should get paid.
Imagine a perfect world where everyone gets paid based on their importance to society. Which profession would earn the most money? Professional athletes are one of the highest paid groups of people in the world. However, what do they actually give to society? The amount of money given to these athletes is far more than teachers, firefighters, police officers, and soldiers. Thus, professional athletes earn too much money.
Soldiers risk lives and fight for our country to help all of us. Athletes play games on a field and fight over a ball. Soldiers fight our country, football players fight for our entertainment. Because of this difference, football players should not receive more money than our armed forces.
From the 66% of boys who have played sports to going from the 1.1% that can make it to the pro level. These people have put copious amount of work and time to get to this level and people still say they don’t deserve their pay. Sports have been around for thousands of year and have been enjoyed by billions. Since Billions will pay to watch sports it generates billions for each sports industry, and the players involved in their sport deserve a cut of that money earned. I claim that athletes are not overpaid because they earn revenue for their team, less than 2% make it to the professional level, and PGA players earn most of their money through tournament winnings.
Researchers are now finding out that athletes who play in college are accepted with extremely low academic standards compared to the other applicants. When students apply for college, most are accepted because of their grades, but athletes do not have to follow these same standards. For example, the average student has a SAT score of 1500, but athletes are admitted with a score that is 220 points lower. (Go) College is designed for academic learning; it is where students gain independence, where they get a degree, and find a job they love and from which they can profit. All student athletes should face the same academic accountability standards as other non-athletes at the university.
Throughout the many decades of professional sports being around, there has been many great athletes to whom thousands of people look up to who have been accused of using performance enhancing drugs. For instance, there has been many professional athletes who have ruined up their careers by using PEDs such as: Ben Johnson, Lance Armstrong, and Barry Bonds, just to name a few. (Timeline.com) But, that’s not the point that I’m trying to make here. My point is that these athletes were striped of their records, medals and accomplishments for what, just to be punished for being great? Regardless if they went against the rules set for them, they still set multiple records between all of them. Some of those records won’t be broken for years, maybe
Money is flooding into these athletic departments and the athletes benefit in many ways, but do athletes deserve to be paid for what? Most people think they shouldn’t be paid because where would they get the money from. Athletes should be paid for what they do because it could keep them in school.
“My goal was never to become famous, my goal was to achieve my dreams.” -Neymar da Silva Santos Jr. All he wanted to do was play the game, he didn’t want the fame or the money. An athlete is a person that plays a sport for money and to entertain an audience. An athlete, sometimes known as a sports competitor is a career with a bright future because of the work activities and salary.
