YOT2 PROF. PRESENCE AND INFLUENCE (GRAD 0714)
A. Professional Presence: 1)Era I (Physical Body) is based mainly on the physical aspect of health such as “surgery and drugs”. “The mind of consciousness is equated with functioning”, Whereas Era III(bio-psycho-social) is based more on consciousness. Era I focuses mainly on the human as a “Physical Body” and what can be done to correct it physically. Era III states that the “mind is boundless and unlimited”. In Era III the realization came about that ones mental health can affect their physical health as well as the health of other humans surrounding them. (Dossey, “A Conversation About the Future of Medicine”: Larry Dossey’s 3 Era’s in Healthcare) 2) In the past

“Guardians® (SJs) are the cornerstone of society, for they are the temperament given to serving and preserving our most important social institutions. Guardians have natural talent in managing goods and services--from supervision to maintenance and supply -- and they use all their skills to keep things running smoothly in their families, communities, schools, churches, hospitals, and businesses.” • “Guardians pride themselves on being dependable, helpful, and hard-working.” • “Guardians make loyal mates, responsible parents, and stabilizing leaders.” • “Guardians tend to be dutiful, cautious, humble, and focused on credentials and traditions.” • “Guardians are concerned citizens who trust authority, join groups, seek security, prize gratitude, and dream of meting out justice” (http://www.keirsey.com/4temps/guardian_overview.asp) I can relate to all of the characteristics related to being a guardian. I take pride in my dependability, helpfulness, and am very hard-working. I also feel that I am a very loyal mate to my husband, and responsible parent, and stable leader. I am extremely cautious and focused on credentials and traditions, and I do seek security. b) Two potential challenges and/or barriers: Kiersey outlines 4 types of temperaments: • Guardian – concrete cooperators, speak mostly of their duties and responsibilities, of what they
Society has progressed both socially and technologically as has medicine. This includes our understanding of health and healing as evidenced by Dossey’s three eras of medicine. Era 1, beginning in the 1800’s, reflected the prevailing view that health and illness are totally physical in nature and therapies included surgical procedures and drugs. Era 2, starting in the 1950’s, related to the mind and body. Practitioners began to realize that emotions and feelings can impact health. Era 3, still developing today, began in the 1990’s and builds on the previous eras by adding the spirit and proposes that consciousness is not confined to one’s
Although, both models are essential to the success of the business, person/ match is best suited for the efficiency, productivity and future growth of Guardian Angel Daycare. With having a business that handles the world’s precious jewels (children) it is imperative to hire well qualified individuals who fit the qualification and requirements for each positions. It’s also just as important to hire individuals who have the interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with the children, their parents, and any new families looking to enroll their little one(s) in a cheerful and professional manner.
When you meet someone for the first time every detail is being noticed; from your entrance, wardrobe, handshake, etiquette, and voice quality and speech (Center for Professional Communication, 2014). First impressions are lasting ones and the first step in building long lasting relationships. A person must be aware of their presence and understand themselves to have a confident professional presence.
Safeguarding is an important part of integrated working. When professionals work together in an integrated way, they put the child at the centre of all activities to help identify their holistic needs earlier to improve their life outcomes. It is important to see safeguarding as
Safeguarding involves everything a setting does, including their procedures and policies etc, to ensure children are kept safe and healthy, and that the risk of them coming to harm or being involved in an accident, is minimised.
Healthcare, and Medicine is advancing more and more each day. As healthcare workers, our understanding of health and healing has improved and changed in the way we care for our patients. Dossey believed in the three eras of medicine. Era 1 began in the 1800s and its focus was solely on the body. The belief that healing and overall health are totally physical. The therapies and treatment were either medications or surgical procedures. The thought that healing all humans based on bodily functions, and how they can be treated will change as time changes. Era 2 began in the 1950s and it focused on the mind and body. Health care providers realized that

The newest and most recent of Larry Dossey’s Eras is Era III which took shape in the 1990’s. Era III is considered the body, mind, spirit and biopsychosocial model. In this model Dossey explains that healing is not only on a physical level but a conscious level. Dossey states “Consciousness is not confined to an individual body, an individual mind may affect not just their body but also other people around them” (Dossey,L. nd). The Eastern models of TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) and the Ayurvedic beliefs about being human and caring for people are similar to Dossey’s theories. These theories underlying belief in how to provide care are the body is made of 5 elements and disease is caused when there is an imbalance between the elements (“Traditional Chinese Medicine: In Depth & What is the Philosophy of Ayurvedic Medicine, nd).

Since the mid-19th century, there have been three distinct models of health and healing. The first era began in the mid-1960s and dealt primarily with the physical body. It is known as the mechanical model and focused solely on the anatomy and physiology of the body. It was physical in nature, and gave no consideration to the mind or spiritual side of the human being.
In their neighborhood, there are people who are looking to make trouble. Therefore the guardians watch other people who may be dangerous for their children’s safety and well being.
You must promote secure and safe attachment of the children to the adults that are capable of giving safe and very effective care. 3. To act to each of the child as advocate. Working as a part of the team 1.

As a guardian this is a huge deal to me. If I am not trustworthy than I have failed as a human being. If I am not hardworking I feel lazy and have not put in the time and passion in the task that should have received the labor rightfully. Those two things I must not fail at or I feel like I lost sense of who I am as a person. Because hard work and trustworthy are what make me successful, especially as a guardian value. I strive to be successful in everything I do. As a guardian, I am very down to earth person. I want to just talk to you and listen and be real to you. I love being sociable and that is a detail which describes being a guardian. I love to talk to all kinds of people rather it be someone I know who just needs to talk or a stranger who is fascinating. Another quality that really matches me to being a guardian is I love to discuss ideas about history or law and order. You might not get me to shut up about the topics when you get me started. Law and order is a passion of mine more than the eye can tell. I have been in ROTC for four years in high school and loved the military training and rules. Also I have taken Criminal Justice classes since high school up to my sophomore year in
to maintain the welfare of the child. In most cases, the guardian is the same person who is appointed during the care proceedings. During the placement proceedings, the court requests the guardian who acted during the care proceedings to also act during the placement proceedings. This is done with the sole aim of safeguarding the child’s interests.
