Once upon a time… Wait a minute, no, this is not your cliche fairy tale. It doesn’t have a princess and a dashing prince who fall for each other after overcoming some stupid obstacle like a poison apple or sleeping curse. I’ve read those stories, but it’s all the same, everyone gets a happy ending except for the villain. That’s going to change right now because this is my story, and my fairy tale certainly doesn’t end with everyone getting their happy ending. This is the story of Cinderella. Not the one with the glass slipper or the bibbity bobbity boo, but one much less about getting a happily ever after. When I first wake up it is as if I am waking up for the very first time. I started to laugh when we made a startling halt. Standing in front of me wearing his pride on his face was the Prince himself. Behind him was a castle’s carriage drawn by five white stallions. Still out of breath, gasping to try to say something to explain myself, the only words I could find were, “Prince Charming, lovely to make your acquaintance.” I always found Prince Charming such a terrible name because if anything he was the opposite of charming. He is so fake and misleading, he acts like this brave hero when really he is just a spoiled prince who sits up in his castle and pretends to care about his people. “Milady,” he bows his head slightly as if to say ‘how do you do?’, “May I ask why you were riding so fast away from the palace?” Rhetorical question, he knew why I rode so fast but if he wanted to play games I guess I could play along. “When I ride fast I feel more free, and isn’t that what everyone wants, to feel free?” I said, it was partly true, all I wanted was to feel like I was riding fast forever. “Possibly, but then can you explain the goods you stole from my kingdom?” He said, still using that proper voice he uses with all his people. I knew he thought I was guilty before this whole conversation, there’s no point in playing games when he thinks he’s already won. “I don’t have to answer to you.
