Prometheus Responsibility

Responsibility means having an obligation to deal with something. Some people feel honored to take responsibility, but most people want to run away from it. In the book, The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls, the author describes what happened in her life starting from her earliest memory. Together with her family, they strive to survive whatever life throws at them. Most of their decisions are made by her dad, Rex Walls, who is also incidentally the root of their problem -- or at least the majority of them. He is a highly skilled and intelligent man but with little to no sense of responsibility and resistance to temptations. We can see this when he was teaching Jeannette, when he tried to stop drinking alcohol, and when he was driving their car as fast as it could go.

Therefore, the individual’s responsibility is to take care of the earth they live in. for instance, taking care of family and friend and others with dignity is a way to show sign of our respect for the god, who created the earth and the human (Catholic Charities, 2016).

Pandora brought the downfall of man. Zeus decides to destroy men altogether. He floods the earth and only Deucalion and Pyrrha survive. They are left to repopulate the earth with the help of an oracle. In ‘Prometheus and The People’ the author uses figurative language, symbolism and a theme throughout the story.

The council of anthem has rules for a reason, they’re made to support their plan, Prometheus will have rules but not the same ones as the council. Prometheus didn’t follow the rules the council had so why would he have the same rules that stopped him from getting where we he wanted to be. He wasn’t in the scholar system because those were the council’s rules. He couldn’t say anything about the tunnel and his invention of the light bulb. The way he made it was illegal and sinful, he knew it was but that didn’t stop him from doing what he believed in.

In the novel Frankenstein, the article Prometheus and the speech “Worship the Spirit of Criticism” there are many examples of why people should hold responsibility for what they create. Frankenstein by Mary Shelley is about a young man who wants to create life from death, and in doing so, it affects his life greatly. In Prometheus, There is a titan who wants to give the gift of fire to humans, but its outcome was bad, and he suffered the consequences for it. “Worship the Spirit of Criticism”, a scientist, Louis Pasteur, expresses how he feels people should take responsibility for what they create. Creators are fully responsible because what they create impacts the world in either a negative or positive way.

Assertions of responsibility can mean a number of different things. We might be making a judgment of someone's character, implying that a soldier can be trusted to act responsibly. We might refer to a person's responsibilities, as expressed by "my responsibilities in my job are…" or "Tom has a lot of responsibilities". We might mean that someone was responsible for bringing something about. But these responses don't take us far towards a satisfactory answer to the question "What do we mean when we talk about responsibilities". To advance our understanding of responsible action we need to know who is responsible, and for what.

Every day, people are faced with responsibility. Some thrive under the pressure while others crumble. Responsibility is a sign of independence. Teenagers with greater amounts of responsibility feel freedom from their parents. In the same case, too much responsibility can put more stress on that freedom-seeking teen and can have devastating effects. John Steinbeck shows the theme that in life, responsibility is best taken in moderation in his novel Of Mice and Men.

Did Mary Shelley initially title her work about Victor Frankenstein and his creation The Modern Prometheus solely because of the glaring similarities between their stories? That is a question that is often discussed, but a conclusion rarely arrives. One of the possible reasons for this could be because there are many different interpretations of the Promethean myth, which are mainly based on the ambiguous nature of the story. The parallels between the Promethean myth and Frankenstein are obvious, and that, in combination with her subtitle, The Modern Prometheus, indicates that Mary Shelley did have the myth in mind as she wrote the story.

Before I start describing some of the rights and responsibilities it’s important to talk about the difference between these two. Rights are what protect you as individual in a society, things that the government has established for good in benefit of the citizens written on the Constitution and responsibilities is what makes you morally or ethically accountable in society, in other words rights are given to you from the government as a form of privilege and responsibilities is how you repay or give in return for those rights given to you.

     Prometheus, the Titan of Greek mythology, was considered to be the most important Titan ever in all the myths. He helped the human race tremendously in his efforts to sustain an easier lifestyle. Mankind had great respect for him because of his advantages and gifts or abilities he gave them. Also, his battle against Zeus as a result of his love for man was very much appreciated. Prometheus was one of the most interesting Greek mythology figures in his time. He was a very kind, loving, generous, and courteous god to mankind. This can be seen through many events in his life including a particular myth that the reader will acknowledge in this research paper.

Prometheus Bound is an Ancient Greek tragic play that is one of three plays concerning the large-than-human figure, Prometheus. Zeus, the king of the Gods on Mont Olympus in ancient Greek religion, Prometheus, a Titan, he stole the fire from Mont Olympus and brought the secrets using fire to mortals, then punished by Zeus to a life bound in chains. This is where the title—Prometheus Bound—is given to the play. Prometheus myth is originated from ancient Greek poet Hesiod’s Theology. In Theology, Prometheus is an evildoer, a liar. However, In Aeschylus' works, he fights for human survival and against Zeus. Prometheus’s name means "anticipate," in the play, he had known that Zeus would punish him, but he declined to comment on the tales, instead, still doing the things under his willing. “It is painful to me to tell the tale, painful to keep it silent.” ---- Scene I “Prometheus Bound”. Prometheus violates the fate and against with it. This action is a tragedy but incredible. The image of Prometheus refers to the people's rebellion and noble. This revolution is intimately related to the progress of social civilization. It is rooted in the individual in the struggle with the fate, society, and itself. According to Dictionary.com, the word “responsibility” means “the state or fact of being answerable or accountable.”

This responsibility includes those of the personal and social nature. On a personal level, we have to take care of ourselves and stay healthy and happy individuals. Socially I strongly believe in the saying, do unto others, as you would like them to do unto you. Abiding by this rule helps society to operate as smoothly as possible without too much conflict. Besides, it is not worth any minute of our shirt lifetime to be unhappy or rude. We as humans are able to make conscious, individual choice and take responsibility for our actions, beliefs, feelings and attitudes. And I believe that we need to exercise these abilities.
