There are about two thousand skate parks in the whole United States, and in contrast to this there are approximately thirteen-million skateboarders in the U.S alone. These are really shocking numbers that the average everyday person wouldn’t know, or care about. But when one of the thirteen million skaters who don’t have a place to skate come and skates in front of their store, suddenly they care. In Nacogdoches this is a real problem, and I have personally observed skaters getting told to leave someplace time and time again. The reason of this problem is that there is no designated place to skateboard in Nacogdoches, such as a skate park. Skaters have a tendency to find one particular place they like, and once they find this place …show more content…
I will not deny it is bad when you have younger kids staying out late at night to skate. This not only puts them in a bad place but gives them plenty of opportunities to break the law or be mistaken for doing something that they may not have done, but at the time there the one taking the blame. There are many respectable skaters who love to skate and don’t do anything wrong. But there are also irresponsible skaters, who care whether or not they mess something up or break it. For all these reasons I think that if there was to be a skate park built here in Nacogdoches it would greatly alleviate many of these problems. People are going to skate whether people like it or not. But with a skate park, the community would have more control over were these people do there skating. As well as this it would allow the parents of their younger skaters to not have to worry as much about were their child is. The park would be new and clean, in addition it would provide a safe environment to skate in. Moreover it would help attract people to come skate, who would otherwise not want to deal with the problems skating on the streets bring. From people I have talked to in the past there are a few things that they would be concerned about if there was a skate park in our town. These problems consist of: graffiti, vandalism, drug use, and negative influences.
My answer to this these problems is first off,
The skateboarding and snowboarding business in Ontario has really grown. Skateboarding became a popular sport and by 2004 there were nine city skateboard parks and plans to construct three more in Sudbury. The city of London, Ontario has only four skateboard parks to serve a population of close to 350,000. By the growth of skateboard parks there is an opportunity for competition to move in as it is doing with the opening of West 49 at the New Sudbury Shopping Center. There is other competition in Sudbury, Pinnacle Sports, however that store is known for its biking and cross-country ski equipment and does carry a small amount of skateboarding and snowboarding equipment but its primary focus is biking and cross-country ski equipment .
I believe that the school can be improved by making a skate park. I say this because a lots of people will pay to get in a skate park. And it will keep a lot of kids of the streets. As long as you don’t make them pay too much then you will make a killing. And with a skate park and good skaters, you can make a skate team. If the team wins a competition, the team may win lots of money. So you won’t be losing any money. When you do auditions for the team, people will cram into the school. The people you need are people that aren’t scared of trying something new. If you make a skate park, less kids will be in trouble in school. There are lots of good skaters that can be on your team, and I know a lot of them.
After the Dogtown kids got famous and were given a brand, Zephyr, so many people wanted to be a part of their group. Wherever the Zephyr kids would skate, other people wanted to come too. The swimming pool skate zones became a place where the Zephyr kids would go skate and where other people would watch. It was a place where kids from the community could come together and interact with each other. Just like in the video, Its a Mall World (youtube), the purpose for the malls and skate zones were not just for the purpose of shopping and skating, but rather a place for socialization within the
For the kids he could have ice skating races where the winner wins a prize and offer times either on Saturday or Sunday afternoons where kids can come and have birthday parties.
A roller rink in La Habra is not only a great business move, but would also hugely enhance the city. The roller rink would be a successful business move because the city is in great need of more entertainment. As frequent visitors of La Habra, the city lacks recreation areas to enjoy with friends and family. With only a couple locations to choose from in La Habra, it is always necessary to seek entertainment in other cities. This is why the roller rink in La Habra would be a perfect fit, it needs a location filled with fun, and the city has the perfect market. Introducing an affordable and fun option to the residents of La Habra is a great way to better the city.
There are plenty of club sports around where we live. Here there are an abundance of students that have to travel one to two hours to Pueblo just to go to volleyball practice. If we were to bring club sports here students would be able to able to play sports that would only be available to us if we traveled. It could help out the parents by not making them drive us three hours to and from sports practices. Then adding more time on the road to go to games. Also if we spend so much time at practices in other cities then we are more likely to get home to late. Therefore we might get home at mid-night making us lose sleep because we have to do our homework. As a result are grades start to fall. So if we were to bring club sports to Rocky Ford it could help us students in plenty of ways.
If we want our children to become more active then we need to find ways to provide areas where they can safely plan and interact with other children. We need to encourage community members to actively participate in opportunities to create a healthier community. A partnership with community members is needed to make the changes necessary to promote and provide access to safe recreational areas for children. In the short term while we are trying to find ways to clean up existing playgrounds and build new ones, we need schools to open gyms and sports fields during non-school hours so children can play safely after school, on the weekend and over summer vacation. Creating affordable after school programs, summer programs and free or low cost summer camps for low-income families is a place to start while working on building more and safer playgrounds. There are challenges regarding cleaning existing playgrounds or creating new ones. Neighborhoods or schools lack the resources to provide playgrounds, parks and after school programs and some neighborhoods are unsafe for children. Parents can become advocates for their children by writing letters to school administrators and board members. Encourage local officials to install park equipment, bike paths and safer
In todays society teens are often associated with drinking, doing drugs, and causing trouble. If a recreation center was built what would be stopping teens from bringing drugs and alcohol there? They may even be getting more teens to participate in such wreckless behavior. In the past year about 70.6% of teens have consumed alcohol and thats just highschool seniors. Also, in order to even have a recreational center you would first need an advisory committee and later a board of directors. For you to have these you would need to get voulenteers from the community to take part in these groups, which community members may not want to partake in or support. To even consider having a recreational center you would first have to see what people in the
It is difficult to picture a city or town without a park or a playground for everyone to enjoy free of charge. This thought is not as far fetched, as some might believe. The massive movement for communities to provide public lands for relaxation, leisure and play has its roots in the Progressive Reforms around the turn of the twentieth century. The congestion of urban centers and the fading concept of child labor creates unintended consequences such as an increase in crime, lack of natural landscape and no place for children to play. To combat this problem cities across the country begin the process of implementing government inspired play to replace the open country that children generations before used as their playground.
Since public space is a contested domain, devices may be placed to exclude the inappropriate users of that particular area (Malone 2002, 160-161). The inappropriateness of users may vary from one space to another. One example of this mechanism is the use of ‘hostile architecture’; the term used to describe the structures installed in public places to deter its use in certain ways or by certain groups of people (Petty 2016, 68). For example, in the cities of Australia, anti-skating devices such as little knobs on steps, garden beds and rails are implemented (Timms 2015), to exclude the space’s undesired users such as skateboarders. The skateboarding culture is closely associated with young adults, in particular the male demographic (Nemeth 2006, 309; Slee 2011, 1-2); hence through the measure of ‘hostile architecture’, young people’s use of public space may be subjected to disproportionate deterrence and
Skateboarding is the act of riding and performing tricks using a skateboard. A person who skateboards is most often referred to as a skateboarder, or colloquially within the skateboarding community, a skater. Skateboarding can be a recreational activity, a job, or a method of transportation. Skateboarding has been shaped and influenced by many skateboarders throughout the years. Skateboarding is relatively modern.
Some people could disagree and they have really good reasons and I understand. Children could get hurt. Their reasons is children's will go to school in the dark and get run over by a car and teens will miss out on sports. However, this claim is invalid because it’s the parents responsibilities to take care of your own child. Your own child have a choice to go to the bus, get pick up, or even walk home. Also if the child has practise or anything important after school, the coach or who is responsible for it should understand and should probably change the time when the event happen if all the kid are leaving school more late.
Like most Americans, I expect to find in every city, every town, even in every village in the country, an outdoor recreation area or what is usually called a park; and I am seldom disappointed. No matter how new and unfinished a town may be, or however old and poor, I know that it will contain, wedged in among the crowded blocks of buildings, a rectangular space with grass and trees and meandering paths and perhaps a bandstand or a flagpole.
Skateboarder’s, rolling down the sidewalk then all of a sudden boom they crash into someone. It could have been an accident but it could also could just be carelessness. This is why skateboarding should be banned from public sidewalks and public places.
“Hey Mom!” I said happily as I walked in the door of my house. I had just gotten home from school.
