People today all have different and unique backgrounds, mine in particular is very different than your average American teenager. I am the daughter of two very religious Iraqi immigrants who left their homeland behind because they are Christians. This has shaped how I am because it shows me how blessed I truly am to be born and raised in a country where I do not have to be worried about being an Assyrian Christian. My family and my Assyrian community have taught me and raised me to be the person I am today, they have been the ones who shaped me into a grown woman that will one day be one of best physicians in the world.
I have been inspired by so many people in my life from my parents and uncles to my churches clergy. As a child I was raised
Most people would guess that a young teen like myself would be influenced the most by the hippest artist of today, the latest movie star, or maybe the team who designed the latest iPhone. Though they are very inspiring, I have been influenced by someone who is not in the twenty first century, yet his legacy and great contributions will go on for centuries. This individual is Charles Drew. Drew was an African American physician and medical researcher who made life changing developments in the medical field. He studied blood transfusions, developed effective techniques for blood storage, and applied his knowledge to develop a blood bank. Charles Drew is most inspiring to me because he was passionate, selfless, courageous, and stood
Way back in 1776 the people of the colonies decided to fight for what they wanted and they took a stand and fought against the odds, and from that moment the american spirit was born. Although Americans may have a bad reputation,Being an American means to be a free individual, have a voice and being patriotic.
I was raised in a Christian household that most people would describe as strict and, even a little harsh but, I know that my parents were only trying to raise me to be a good person. I was taught to have strong, moral values and to be a kind, loyal friend. In times of struggle and torment, I think my best traits stood out when put to the test. My parents helped me learn life-long lessons that will stay with me in everything that I do.
I wish we could all remember that being american is not just about the freedom we have; it's about who gave it to us" (Mike Huckabee) What does being an american mean to you? Is it because you were born here? The clothing you wear? The accent you have? Or fact that you can speak english? On July 4th of 1776 the united states of america declared its independence on Great Britain. The men who had signed the Declaration of Indepence thought that being an american ment more than that. It was what they believed. For them it was three basic points. They said, "There is a God. A creator God. They said, "Our rights come from him."They also said, "The purpose of government is to protect and defend these god-given rights." What I believe makes us americans is certain characteristics that set us apart from other countries. The fact that we are self reliant,
Being an American is something I’m proud of, I have a lot more freedom than other countries. The Declaration of independence was declared on July 4th, 1776 and ever since then the government has only gotten better. Some of the reason the government has gotten better is, we have to ability to vote, and the government is making decisions and is projecting the rights for the citizens.
Given that the population of the United States is a very large number, I’m sure there are many, many different opinions on what it means to be American, not to mention the amount of people outside the United States that also have their own opinions of our country. To be American means many things, but above all, in my opinion, being an American divides into two categories: a person’s emotions about the country, and a person’s state of being based on living in that country. These two categories have many different adjectives that fall underneath them.
Everyone has encountered an individual in their life that that has greatly influenced them to be the person they are today. Some will find it is through direct family members, friends, or a public figure. In my own life, that individual is musician and poet Alex Turner. He has influenced me in a number of ways including; inspiring me to take writing seriously, introducing me to new literature, and teaching me the art of thinking before speaking.
Don't be afraid to change because change only leads to a new beginning. Is there really such thing as freedom, how would you react if you could go somewhere without being judged and you can be who you are? America is simply a place where there is freedom. It's your choice if you want to take the freedom or not. To be an American means to believe in yourself and that you want to believe in.
Shannon L. Alder once said, “If you were born with the ability to change someone’s perspective or emotions, never waste that gift. It is one of the most powerful gifts God can give- the ability to influence.” This quote above has always been my favorite line of admiration. Up until now, I have been influenced by a lot of people, but the person that I admire most is my older sister, Nhi.
People inspire me. The people who want to do well and make others feel good about themselves. For example, feminists who want everyone to have respect and the same civil rights regardless of gender, anti-bullying clubs, suicide prevention hotlines, and African American women who embrace the color of their skin and hair.
I grew up in Pakistan with a diverse culture around me. Before moving to the U.S., the city I grew up in was a blend of people who lived there because of their jobs, education and business purposes. I learned that poverty, marginalization and violence, neither had a religion nor selects people of a specific faith to attack them. This made me devote myself to the church and its programs to serve all children of God spreading the good news of Jesus Christ and fighting for social justice against the systemic evil in the world.
One person I personally know that inspires me a lot is my father. My father has always been very involved in my life and had a very positive impact on who I have become. He came to the United States when he was eleven years old with nothing. The English language was foreign to him and everything was being risked. The comfort of being in a place you have been all your life and having friends and family surrounding you was gone. Yet his parents knew this was what was best for him, so they brought him over. Things were not easy for my father and some of my family members either. They all lived crammed up in a one bedroom apartment. However, they were not discouraged. My father fought and fought for what he wanted to achieve. I admire him greatly because of how hard working he is. Everything he has accomplished today was thanks to his amazing work ethic. This is what really makes me want to be like him. If I am able to strive and fight like he did, especially with my studies, I have faith I will achieve all I want.
The person that was the source of my inspiration was Dr. Wayne Dyer. He was born in Detroit, Michigan and received his Ed.D degree in counseling from Wayne State University. In his early career begins he started as a professor of counselor education at St. John´s University; he focused primarily in motivational speaking techniques. After a few years he started then writing books about his theories becoming really famous, and then building a successful career with lecture books, series of audiotapes and PBS programs.
Everyone has a different way of living and a different personality, and a lot of it has to do with how a person was brought up and their background. The person that I am today has a lot to do with my family's impact, the people I hung out with, the type of home I lived in, and the community I was raised in. There was a lot of lessons to be learned, but I was able to stick through them, and carry on with my life to the point where I am now.
Over time, there have been several people who have influenced various aspects of my life, based on their personal characteristics, accomplishments, and values. I have been privileged to have had numerous teachers and professors who I respect for their patience and intelligence. There are artists that have inspired me by their natural talents and original creativity. I value many political leaders, who have inspired me by their contributions to society, and their ability to change our futures. Of all the people I have encountered in my life, the person I admire most is my father.
