Right or Wrong? Sometimes in life we are all tested to do the right thing, but what does that mean? That is exactly the problem the Avengers team had in Captain America’s Civil War movie. First, we are offered an ultimatum. In the Civil War movie the avengers are handed the option of signing the Sokovia Accord, but naturally there were some who didn’t and some who did. Of the ones who decided to not sign the accord, two main characters are the Scarlet Witch and Captain America. But why, you might be asking. They both have, in my opinion, good reasons for not wanting to sign. Captain America said “It’s run by people with agendas, and agendas change.” But Scarlet Witch had a more personal reason. From the beginning Scarlet had felt torn for the amount of destruction that she caused …show more content…
Some of the pros of choosing not to sign the Sokovia Accords was that Captain America was able to prove that the winter soldier (Bucky) was not responsible for killing the king of Wakanda. By going against all of his teammates wishes and the governments threats Captain America was also able to capture the man who was truly responsible for starting the super soldier mechanism that was brainwashed into Bucky, and for killing the Wakandan king. But there is always a negative side to decisions like these. One of the most challenging cons that Captain America and Scarlet Witch had to face was having to hide from the government while tracking the same guy as them. Another big setback that they had was when they had to fight their own team that was more like a family because of the bond that they had developed over time. There was one incident that caused a setback for not the team, but more so Captain America, Iron Man and the Winter Soldier. Once they had all caught up to the man responsible for all the catastrophe he showed a video of when Bucky was brainwashed and killed Iron Man’s parents as an order given by
By now we should all know the two leading Industries in superhero comics, graphic novels and blockbusters,Marvel and DC. and although both companies are great in their own ways, comic fans everywhere love to debate about which side is better. on one side fans argue DC is better because They were the original superhero company, that gave birth to some of the most iconic superheroes today, such as Batman,Superman, Wonder Woman and the Flash. But I say that Marvel is better because I believe superhero should be human to a certain degree In order for us, the readers/viewers to relate, they should just be normal people with exceptional powers and a moral compass. they should have basic human wants and needs and inner strengths and weaknesses
In A Few Good Men, both Lance Cpl. Harold W. Dawson and Pfc. Louden Downey were obedient to Col. Nathan R. Jessup’s order to give Santiago the Code Red, even though it went against their preset morals. Dawson saw, through his own conscience, that hurting another person because of small mistakes was immoral. But because of his believe in the marines code, “Unit, Corp, God, Country,” he was unable to allow himself to disobey a direct order. Author Milgram explored this same issue in his experiment. He asked why people followed orders no matter the negative effects it has on other people. In the study, roughly 60% of the test subject followed all orders to harms others. After the studies, Milgram inferred that this was because people have an underlying fear of disobeying a superior and do not trust their own
Should the President of the United States have to be born on United States soil?
Although heroes are historically thought of as being the "good guys," sometimes cinematic elements can portray a character who isn't the most virtuous as a "hero." Deadpool (2016), directed by Tim Miller, is about the witty anti-hero and mercenary, Wade Wilson. In a desperate attempt to save his life and relationship from dying to terminal cancer, he agrees to let the evil scientist, Ajax, transform him into what Wade thinks is a "superhero." Ajax tricks him, torturing and disfiguring him into a mutant. Wade later creates the identity for his anti-hero self as "Deadpool" and sets out to seek brutal revenge on Ajax and his clan. While Deadpool's revenge and occasional impulsive murder of others is not an honorable attribute, the camera angles, slow-motion effects, and music cues the audience into viewing him as a hero.
I am glad that Donald Trump has become the President of the United States, and have reasoning for it. First of all, he won the Electoral College. Many people seem to think that because Hillary Clinton got the popular vote. I feel that this is very weak evidence, because the 12th amendment states, “The Twelfth Amendment (Amendment XII) to the United States Constitution provides the procedure for electing the President and Vice President”. So saying that she won the popular vote doesn’t solve anything, because a whole amendment debunks that. Another reason I have is that even though Clinton has had more experience, that does not make her more fitting. For instance, she said she would create 200,000 jobs as Senator, but did not create a single
A person’s decisions, whether they are following directions or are making their own choices, will change their lives. The effect of a decision is played out in the movie A Few Good Men. In the movie, Lance Cpl. Harold W. Dawson and Pfc. Louden Downey’s decision to follow the orders of Col. Nathan R. Jessup to perform a code red on Pfc. Santiago, a “sub-par marine”, results in them accidentally killing Santiago. Dawson and Downey are originally blamed for Santiago’s death; however, Lt. Daniel Kaffee is able to convince the jury to drop the charges of murder and conspiracy to commit murder. Despite this, both Marines are given a dishonorable discharge for performing the code red on Santiago (A Few Good Men). In Erich Fromm’s article, “Disobedience
Growing up my family has always thought me to be obedient, but also know the difference between what is right and wrong. I am not saying that my family or I am perfect, but I have always strived to do the right thing. I understand, in society today that we have jobs and responsibility, that sometimes it can compromise our principles, but like every person, we have certain boundaries that we just cannot let ourselves pass. In “The Perils of Obedience by Stanley Milgram, a study was conducted on several subjects to test their obedience and how far they would go to as the “teacher” to administer a shock to a “student “that the authority figure “experimenter” ordered them to give. Among the test subject was Gretchen Brandt, a thirty-one –year –old
Released in 1941, Captain America quickly became a popular comic with an interesting and unique plot that pitted an American hero against the Nazis. The comic was also used as a piece of propaganda. Following the comic book a long while after, Captain America: The First Avenger was then released as a movie in 2011, featuring some of the same elements from the original comic. However, there are also many differences between the comic and the movie. Some of these differences include, the plot, the symbols used and also the faction Hydra.
When there is darkness there is light on the horizon. People may believe that President Trump will be somewhat of a war hawk when it comes to maintaining or even growing the United States nuclear arsenal. However, history has shown us that presidents may not be as hawkish as they are perceived to be. “United States President Ronald Regan became the unlikely champion of the nuclear disbarment agenda.” (Futter 176) Some say that Regan took a risky and aggressive posture towards the Soviet Union a few years back.
As you are keenly aware, on November 9th, 2016, Mr. Trump was elected the 45th President-Elect of the United States of America, and on January 20th, 2017 was sworn in for a four year term as the 45th President of the United States. With Republican majorities in both the United States House of Representatives as well as the United States Senate, the President has laid out a strong agenda on everything from immigration and national security to trade and regulatory reform. While this bold plan of action is not perfect, and there may potentially be areas where I disagree with my colleagues and the President, it is a plan that I am enthusiastic to delve into as our unified Republican government gets to work on behalf of the American people.
became angry after the civil rights, and went towards violence. Still today our country is filled with hatred and violence. Instead of people creating social movements, they are creating riots and destroying their homeland. Every person has leadership, but it takes a powerful person to create non-violence and to teach a larger group to not fight back. At a very young, we are socialized to hit others back if they hit us first. Instead, we need to change the ways on how hitting is bad, and to teach others, treat others they way you want to be treated. No one ever wants to be harmed because again, that is not humanity.
I feel that it is extremely important to show the way the president has been behaving or acting because it is concerning how he likes to talk about banning Muslims from the seven countries like Syria, Iran, Yemen, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, and Iraq. There was also a time where a judge called Gonzalo Curiel, was presiding over a case against Trump University, he went to say that “He’s a Mexican, Trump told CNN. “We’re building a wall between here and Mexico. The answer is, he is giving us very unfair rulings, rulings that people can’t even believe.” “Claiming that a person can’t do their job because of their race is sort of like the textbook definition of a racist comment,” House Speaker Ryan said, though he clearly endorsed Trump. When asked by CNN’s Jake Tapper if he would condemn Duke and say he didn’t want a vote from him or any other white supremacists, Trump claimed that he didn’t know anything
Marvel versus DC is a debate that has been reignited with the launch of multiple movies featuring heroes from each universe. Each universe has its own heroes and villains. The subject of this paper is to determine which would be the safer universe. While DC and Marvel both have many characters, only some of the characters in each universe have god-like abilities. Certain characters from the Marvel and DC universe have the ability to end all life in the solar system, galaxy and possibly the universe.
