Cell phones are one of the most used/bought products. Almost all kids own a cell phone. Because of this, asking this question is very common. Should we allow kids to use their cell phones during school hours? Being that almost everyone owns one, some people believe they should. Others do not. Most schools typically allow students to bring cell phones, but they do not allow students to have them in class. For example, kids can use their cell phones outside, but not inside the school building. Cell phones should not be used in classrooms, for their cause distractions, enable cyber-bullying, and even allow students to cheat.
The first reason is, using cell phones in class provide a distraction to everyone in the class. Kids will distract other children because if they were to text in class, their phone could ring, and this would not create a very good environment, for the classroom if everyone brought their phones. Yes, kids can turn their phones on silent, but not everyone will do this. Students could also drop their phones. Dropping phones create a very dramatic moment in which children will get interrupted and start to look around the classroom. Another reason is that kids can get onto apps and play games or music. When doing so, they will be disturbed and will not learn the lesson that is being taught. Staying distracted can cause a dramatic decrease in their grades. The lowering grades can cause the school average to get worse, and this
It is a well known fact; using cell phones in school takes away from learning time. I do not think that cell phones should be allowed. Cell phones are fine for outside the classroom, but inside, you’re supposed to be learning. Even though some students think they can use them for good, it can quickly turn into bad. Cell phones cause students to do bad on their work, enables cheating, and can be distracting.
In each school there are absurd rules; ours by far has the most. Ok I get it, the staff is trying to us learn with a cleaner environment, but they have to be able to understand that phones CAN help you learn! Phones give us opportunities to hold many useful things such as calculators, passwords, and our schedules. I can see that they would want to take it away because it is “distracting”, but I honestly think that it is more distracting not having it then actually having it, now all we can think about is checking our phones. Although much of the public debate is against it, there are pros associated with allowing cell phones in school. These advantages should not be ignored since cellphones in schools can actually add value to the
Cirelli, Cheryl. “Pros of cell phones in school.” Retrieved from http://cellphones.Lovetoknow.co Cheryl Cirelli’s “Pros of cell phones in school” is an excellent resource for debating in favor of cellphones in school. It offers examples and evidence to the topic of cellphones in the classroom. Cirelli explains that cellphones are not only an instant form of communication, but also a learning aid. In addition, cellphones can be used as a collaboration tool for group projects. Overall, she supports the idea of cellphones at school and backs up her argument with evidence. The debate of cellphones at school is an extremely controversial issue. This article supports a specific side of the argument and helps dispute the issue.
Hmm, phones in the classroom! What do you think? That is a debate between billions of people in the world today. Children all over the world have phones, but they can not have them out during school hours. Cell phones are important to so many kids and adults. These devices have been around for so long, and many people can not live without them. All around the school campus, students are miserable without their phones. In the world today, about three-fourths of the U.S. population have phones. A cell phone is an important thing to some people. Without cell phones, kids wouldn't have access to their social media accounts like Snapchat, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and more. So take this into consideration, even if it is in one class, students should be allowed to get on their cell phones during school hours.
These are just a few of the reasons cell phones should not be banned in schools. Indeed, there are downfalls to a cell phones, but they're also good and very useful during school. Like for example in case of emergency, parent wants to check up on their kid, helpful with school work, and lastly electronics are more fun for kids including their own device. If you can't use you cell phone in your school talk to your principal or teachers and state why they should change their mind and maybe you'll change their
The Center for Disease Control’s 2008 Wireless Substitution report shows that one of every seven Americans place and receive most, if not all, of their calls on a wireless phone. The increase in cell phone usage has expanded into our children’s schools. Many children in today’s society carry a cell phone on their person to school. This increase of usage and change of demographic has created a debate in many schools.
If your are allowed a cell phone in school and you get caught doing something you shouldn't, you could get in trouble. If cell phones weren't allowed in school there wouldn't be problems over the phone. If you have a phone in class it is a distraction from your learning. If your were a teacher would you want your students to have phones. Students would be on their phone while they should be doing homework. As students we go to school for seven hours. In those seven hours there is no reason they need to be on there phone. School is for learning, not looking at a phone.
Most schools around the country allow students to have cell phones for safety; however, most schools do not necessarily allow students to use mobile phones during class time according to “Do Cell Phones Belong in the Classroom” by Robert Earl, a partner in a strategic consulting firm in Arlington, Virginia, has served in the federal government, in the defense industry, and in the Marine Corps. He is a Naval Academy graduate and Rhodes Scholar and has spent many years observing public school classrooms. The article “Do Cell Phones Belong in the Classroom?” states that lack of preparation for a class has been just one negative consequence these cell phone users experience (Earl). Cell phones are known to be a distraction in all types of situations. For instance, after the teacher has given the lecture. Or has even started helping students. Sometimes even he or she will start writing on the board. Students see that as an opportunity to take their phones out and send an instant message to friends, watch a vine, listen to music, or tweet. After some time, the teacher will notice the usage of cell phones. By that time he or she gives out a warning about the use of cell phones, the phones will disappear with unwilling obedience until the next chance is presented. There needs to be more discipline in a classroom and students need to be inspired and motivated by wanting to learn. “ Percent of teens who take their cell phone to school, school policy, 2009” shows
I think using smartphones should be allowed to in classrooms. If students are allowed to use their phones in the classroom they would be able to focus on their assignments. If students use technology, such as their phones, they will be able to be prepared for their future. In the future mostly everything would be based off of technology. While in the classroom the electronic devices would be very useful for current assignments. Some people also work better on a phone of computer/chromebook. These are some super-eminent qualities. If students are allowed to use their phones computers tablets or any other device they could get their work done faster or more efficiently. Many people believe that when students get in trouble at school that they are being taught a lesson. However, as a middle schooler myself we seem that getting in trouble is just a way of telling us that we need help. Or that we are horrible people and need to do something better in our lives. Without phones in class we need a way to communicate. Most communication is done over the
Imagine a classroom full of children that are doing there work and are very focused. Then out of the blue a student phone goes off and distracts everyone in the classroom. No child would have got distracted if students could just keep their phones at home, where they belong! Some people might think that cell phones should be allowed at school, but in reality cell phones are distracting, cause cyberbullying, and can be used for cheating.
Cellphone’s should be able to be brung to schools for a good reason. The three that I came up with are kids getting home for school, useful for our education, and for downloading apps for us to use for our education for the kids at school. The first reason i say that cellphones should be brought was for safety of the kids getting home from school. If a kid is at school and they are trying to get home they can call their parents to come pick them up our another relative can. Also if a kid gets lost walking home from school they can just call somebody instead of asking a stranger and the stranger might just try to kidnap you. And from the article “Pros Of Allowing Cell Phones In High Schools” it says that if a
Firstly, cell phones are a huge distraction. When a student has their cell phone on their desk or in their pocket, they are more likely to pick it up and use it. When using the cell phone not only is that student distracted, it causes the other students around them to become distracted as well. A student who is on their phone while the teacher is giving instructions or talking about a quiz or test, is less likely to succeed then a student who is actively paying attention.
First,We should be able to have our phones s we can call our parents. We may need to call our parents for an emergency. We may need it to call our parents to come pick us up for any reason like maybe we are about to get into trouble or in a fight. Sometimes we need something from home or something you left in the car that you need you never know….
To begin with, cell phones in a classroom setting provide a temptation to distract students from the learning and interactions that could be otherwise achieved. When a student has their phone in class, it
Cell phones should be allowed during class. This has many reasons why. Let’s take a look at what those are. First, it does have GPS tracking in the phone or on an app. It can help the parents if they don’t know where the student is. Or, if the child gets lost, it can help the child by just looking at google maps on where he is. Next, it has voice notes, It makes it much faster to study and all the notes will be correct. For voice notes all you have to do is get an app that tracks what your teacher is saying. This will help you study. Lastly, It can store emergency contact if the child gets lost. It can help in emergencies too. If there is a lock down and the student has their phone all they have to do is text the police to let them what is
