hould United States colonize Avalon?. That's a really good question…
In my opinion I believe that United States, should not to colonize Avalon. Avalon is a Island a few hundred miles away from Hawaii; is the home of a large population of natives that live in a peaceful atmosphere, these land also holds a large amount of oil underneath, that's seen as a great opportunity to provide more gasoline to citizens and companies.
The debate is, if people are against our behalf. In my personal opinion, I believe and feel that United States should not try to take over. We have to think of the hundreds of people that live in Avalon, the time and money that has to be invest
Imperialism has been a big influence over the history, and colonizing lower
Winning is simple, well not in all cases. In 1898 there was war between Spain and the United States. The United States won and became proud and excited. Suddenly the U.S became a major world power. In 1898 there was a conference that was held in Paris, which was a peace treaty. Since America had won the war against Spain it had three choices hand back the islands to Spain, give the Philippines their independence, or annex the Philippines under some sort of American government. On February 6th, 1899 there was a decision that was made. The Philippines were annexed by the U.S (BE, 2009). The U.S should not annex because it went against the “Spirit of 1776”. The U.S should annex because it will prevent other countries from acquiring the
America shouldn’t drill in Alaska because it doesn’t really help our economy. In document B it states that “ If oil is discovered less than 2,000 acres of the 150 million acres of the coastal plain would be affected.” The oil from the ANWR possibly created up to 735,000 jobs because they are building a new oil refinery and they need places to get
America should drill in Alaska for oil because it's good for the economy. Document C says the United States uses more oil than it could find domestically, even if we were to drill on all public lands. The United States uses 25% to 30% of the oil produced
We don't have much power or people to take over that area. Who will explore it we really don't have an army to see all that land. We don't know what is over there. There could be predators out there or Indians maybe there could be more
Jamestown is the first permanent settlement in what is now the United States, Jamestown was founded in 1607. Those first colonists are what started it all, without their bravery to explore new lands the United States may not have turned out the same. Those colonists provided the first stepping stone to expand into more and more colonies. People believe that those first English colonists are what molded and continue to mold American character today. There are three reasons that make this true. If you are not lucky enough to be born wealthy you can always work hard to become wealthy. New beginnings are often found in the New World. Also, Religious freedom was first introduced by the leaders of those beginning colonies.
The United States values freedom and so we should let other countries have their freedom too. Keeping other countries as territories is against our values of democracy and freedom. Some of the territories we kept were Puerto Rico, Guam, and the Philippines. The Spanish American War started in the Philippines, and it served as a base for some of the Spanish Fleet. Eventually, when it declared independence, the United States didn’t know what to do with it. The United States allowed independence to
to begin with are United States has had conflicts with smaller countries due to a need of economic, political, or military justice. There has been many occasions where the U.S. invaded a Country uninvited and with a forceful action. Hawaii is a extraordinary example of how the U.S. uses their wealth to get what they want or what they need. The US was becoming very invested in the hawaiian islands as way station point for shippers, sailors, and wailers trading with Asian nations. White americans applied the U.S. congress for the U.S. annexation actions in Hawaii. In 1898 islands were annexed and became possession of the U.S.
There have been many issues with annexation with the United States in the past. So many that you would think the leaders of today would know by now that annexation is not a wise move to make in expansion. A prime example of forcible annexation is with the annexation of the Philippines. The United States annexed the island nation with no consent and, some would say, no mercy for the natives of this country. This quote from the San Francisco Agronaut highlights Americas non-concern for the Filipino people: “WE DO NOT WANT THE FILIPINOS. WE DO WANT THE PHILIPPINES…The more of them killed the better. It seems harsh. But they must yield before the superior race,” (Lapsansky). This act is made even more horrendous when you take into account the fact that the United States had just helped the Philippines receive freedom from the horrible dealings of being annexed into and apart of the empire of Spain. We set the small island nation free from one country to be annexed into another.
Everyone might have different opinion on rather imperialism is good for America or not but here are the reasons why it is good. Imperialism would be a great thing for America because imperialism has a lot of benefits and opportunities for a better lifestyle, because the expanding of nations can grow meaning more markets and businesses are being created that equals more money! Imperialism allows bigger countries to help smaller countries become successful. The ability to solve problems in counties near your own is great for making allies. A great example of trying to make allies is ideological imperialism which is a country’s ideas or views shared to other countries. Mainly to build each other up and exchange goods or raw materials. Imperialism can have economic forms which is the expansion of forms or acquire raw materials. The expanding of land and resources increases and the economic and political views are advanced. Transportation would be faster and easier due to the Panama Canal and we can get raw materials and the goods needed for our country. The Panama Canal is probably one of the greatest contrustion ever built, it has improved the United States for the better. New lands can be discovered and be turned into a great state like Hawaii and Alaska for example. A lot of people thought Alaska was just a cold and frozen place to be, but William Seward's bought it for 7.2 million dollars and now it’s a 49th state in America. Imperialism can improve your daily life as

Now, we’re involved in a possible conflict with Spain. It is possible that we might engage in an epic naval battle with the Spanish fleet in the Philippines. Hawaiian Islands provide us with the perfect coal station for our Navy and supply ships on the way to the Philippines. It is in America’s best interest to annex Hawaii as soon as possible. If we do not act quickly, the British might annex Hawaii. There’s no time to waste. The Filipinos have been fighting against the Spanish rule for some time now. Are we going to help them achieve their independence from Spanish rule? If we deem that they’d be better of being independent, we will assist them. But, if we deem that they’d benefit from being annexed, we might go ahead and add the Philippines to our oversea possessions. Like with the Hawaiians, the Filipinos will benefit from the Christianization of their islands. With the influx of American values, cultures, and language, we will be doing any country annexed a favor by allowing them into our nations cultural and economic prosperity.
European Exploration is negative due to the effects that individual explorers and triangular trade still has on my life. Racism and the endangerment of native people are prime examples of the negative consequences of European Exploration.
The world, as we know it, is in the midst of having an oil crisis. Our nation starves and bends at the will of this dreadful calamity. Our deprivation for this atrocious corruption has led us to look for oil deposits in the Alaskan Wilderness. The US needs oil and by drilling for oil on our own land, we would help our economy, but in doing so would destroy the beauty of the wilderness and harm many others. The matter on hand is that should we drill for oil in Alaska’s wilderness? My opinion and answer to this question would simply be no. The United States of America should not drill for oil in the Alaskan wilderness.
Lewis and Clark paved the way for exploration of the western part of the Americas along with introducing new ideas about travel and people of the area. If it weren't for Lewis and Clark most of western America would have been left uncharted for many years to follow. The journey to discover a land route to access the Pacific ocean was rough but it had many benefits. Through the exploration many new plants, animals and tribes were discovered. The duo are true heros when it comes to exploration because they were able to work together to do what was required of them as they journeyed across unexplored land.
