Green living and renewable energy has been a hot topic in discussions for years. Politicians, environmentalists and companies have made their points on both sides of the argument and tried to force their beliefs onto the public. The masses have now heard how renewable energy helps reduce pollution and how expensive it would be to switch our lifestyle but I don’t think many people know why we need this change or why it is not necessary. Not only does it help the country, but green living helps us directly too. The pay-off we would see from the improvements to our lifestyle is a large one; cleaner air, cleaner water, and a cleaner planet are just some of the benefits that we could enjoy in our lifetime. Although it is not an immediate result, the change we make now will benefit the upcoming generations and make their world a better place to live. If people really sat down to think about it, this project is not a waste of money, it is a long term investment that will pay off and bring back even more profits. While I see it as an investment, the opposition is skeptical as to how much the change can benefit us. While the arguments for green living can be heard everywhere, the opposition also has their reasonable amount of beliefs that counter the debate. The most obvious of these ideas is that the results generated are not quick enough. The change in fuels for cars alone can take a handful of years and in the end, it won’t be our generation that benefits from it. Instead of seeing the results, we are stuck in working for the future population’s benefits. As for the revenue that would be created it will, like the statement before, take years to bring back the money “invested”. Environmental Impact of Personal Lifestyle: Behavior # 1 A major lifestyle behavior of mine that effects the environment is the over usage of water. Water waste is a problem for many people in their households. We can start conserving in our homes which most of our water is wasted daily and we do not pay attention to it. Water is used for daily activities such as taking a shower, brushing teeth, washing the dishes, etc. My personal problem is over usage in the shower, I like to take at least a 30 minute shower. Another major problem is when I let the water run when I am brushing my teeth.

When looking at the map of states that voted against this we should devide them into those which are vulnerable to climate effects and voted against to convince them on increasing economic pressures derived from inaction in their own states and neighboring states (peer pressure). Then, with those that depend primarily in fossil fuel exploitation (coal mines, oil fields) we should work on the benefits of increase research and development of low carbon technologies within the fossil fuel industry, investment in research and development of cleaner fuels and more efficient processes can be accompanied by technology transfer tax breaks. Emphasis should be made on the fact that this newer industry will create an increasing amount of green jobs the young population could benefit from. It means shifting maintenance investment in the oil and gas industry to the development of a whole new industry that will yield high paying specialized jobs.
The current global population of 7.6 billion people is expected to reach 11.2 billion in 2100 (UN DESA), and as the Earth’s population continues to grow exponentially, the topic of environmental sustainability is being debated with increased urgency. In the past few years, many large-scale environmental issues have emerged due to human activities: climate change, air and water pollution, rising sea levels, habitat loss, species extinction, and worsening natural disasters are all becoming more and more prevalent. But perhaps our most immediate concern should be whether or not we will be able to continue feeding this ever-increasing population.
What do we know about our energy sources and how our energy choices affect the environment? Many people still do not put much though into this topic or pay any attention to the amount of energy they use or where it comes from. For some it is just willful negligence, but for many others it may be due to a lack of knowledge on the subject. Perhaps it is a good idea to pay closer attention and educate ourselves so we can make informed decisions that may lead to less stress on our wallets and on our environment. In this day and age, we have new energy sources that could be used to power our homes and transportation. Wind and solar power are used all over the world, but are still used far less than fossil fuels. Most would say it’s not reliable or it doesn’t make any profit. While both statements are true, it doesn’t mean we can’t make a better future using renewable energy. In fact, the only reason we don’t use renewables for everything is that we don’t want to change. The hard truth is we need to change. Fossil fuels are great right now, but if we run out, humanity must have another source of energy.
Wind, solar, geothermal, hydroelectric, and biomass provide so much benefit for our climate, health and our economy. As many reliable energy’s rise on demand and expense like oil, coal, natural gas and nonrenewable fossil fuel that draw on limited resources which will eventually diminish.
