Green living and renewable energy has been a hot topic in discussions for years. Politicians, environmentalists and companies have made their points on both sides of the argument and tried to force their beliefs onto the public. The masses have now heard how renewable energy helps reduce pollution and how expensive it would be to switch our lifestyle but I don’t think many people know why we need this change or why it is not necessary. Green living has been shown to help reduce our carbon footprint and help the planet but others are saying that it is a waste of money and not necessary in order to survive. Not only does it help the country, but green living helps us directly too. The pay-off we would see from the improvements to our lifestyle is a large one; cleaner air, cleaner water, and a cleaner planet are just some of the benefits that we could enjoy in our lifetime. Although it is not an immediate result, the change we make now will benefit the upcoming generations and make their world a better place to live. If people really sat down to think about it, this project is not a waste of money, it is a long term investment that will pay off and bring back even more profits. While I see it as an investment, the opposition is skeptical as to how much the change can benefit us. While the arguments for green living can be heard everywhere, the opposition also has their reasonable amount of beliefs that counter the debate. The most obvious of these ideas is that the results generated are not quick enough. The change in fuels for cars alone can take a handful of years and in the end, it won’t be our generation that benefits from it. Instead of seeing the results, we are stuck in working for the future population’s benefits. As for the revenue that would be created it will, like the statement before, take years to bring back the money “invested”. Plenty of companies would fund green projects but when they see how long it takes to get profit, they steer away from it and frankly, who wouldn’t. Why waste millions of dollars when
