In the story, Proserpina went exploring in a forest and she found the most beautiful flower she has laid eyes on. So, she proceeded to pull up the flower from the ground, but as she did a giant hole began to form where the flower had stood. Someone came out of that hole riding on a black horse and demanded that she return with him to his castle in the underworld. Proserpina refused his offer, and tried to run away, and call for help but soon realized that no one can hear her. She gave up and reluctantly left for his castle as they arrived there he then revealed himself to be Pluto and that she will stay with him forever. As they proceeded to walk down some halls that seemed to last forever and after a while they approached a room that looked like a cell. The cell was a red room with a low drooping roof, cracked walls and floors, various small creatures dotted the room's corners, a caged window, to the right a bathroom, and in the middle, is a neatly kept queen sized bed with a red cover and pillows. "You will be staying in here until I summon you, until then would you like something to eat or drink?" Said Pluto, Proserpina shook her head no because she knew what would happen to her if she did. As she walked into her room Pluto shut the door and locked it, before long he proceeded to walk back the way they came. She was in there for several long months, which felt like decades to her with no visitors besides Pluto's daily visits to try and get her to eat or drink something then she will want to stay
For instance, the panes were scarlet, a deep blood colour. The "bloody" red room thus becomes a place of ending not only due to the westward location, but also because of its color. Poe describes the last, black room as the dreadful endpoint, the room the guests fear just as they fear death. The room is feared by the guests because it reminds them of death, which is why no one enters the room. The room is involved in all of the main scenes throughout the course ofthe story. For example, this is the room Prince Prospero and his guests die from the Red Death and also where the clock is located. The reader sees how important the rooms are throughout the story and its main contribution to the theme.

They found a dark wooden staircase running up in a rectangle and descending in a corner, hinting the remains of coffins, it wasn’t expected though as they thought they were looking at a grave of cholera victims.

The Abduction of Proserpine by Alessandro Alori, also known as The Rape of Persephone, is a painting that depicts a greek mythology about Pluto, god of the Underworld, and Prosperine, daughter of the goddess of agriculture. The painting portrays Pluto kidnapping Proserpine on earth with satyrs observing the kidnapping while picking flowers and walking around the land. The story behind the kidnapping is that Pluto had fallen in love with Proserpine and wished to make her Queen of the Underworld and was willing to take her away from her family and force her to leave earth. Proserpine did not want to leave her family behind and never see them again, so Pluto made her a deal that she would spend six months under water with Pluto and another six
In the Roman literature, it illustrated the myth that Pluto stole Proserpine’s innocence due to effects of cupid’s arrow sent by Venus. Through an analytical perspective, Ovid illustrated Venus as the goddess who too wanted the unification of the three cosmos for extension of power “why should hell lag behind? Why not there too extend your mother’s empire and your own?” (Met., p. 110) and being the goddess of sexuality and not having the power to tamper with the virginities of Pallas and Diana but Proserpine, she planned to “kill two birds with one stone” by summoning her son Cupid to shoot an arrow through Pluto’s heart “against his and shot the barbed shaft deep in Pluto’s heart” (Met., p. 111) to take away Proserpine’s virginity followed by her

It was in a very dark location, and seemed to have an evil air around it. At the front door, which had door handles in the shape of lions heads, Pluto ordered his cooks to prepare a delicious meal for Proserpina, and told them to add some of the water from the stream into the recipe. Then, he sent her to a room and told her not to leave. She was forced to stay in the room for days, she was sobbing and crying most of the time. However, Proserpina finally decided to leave the room and explore the castle. She was spotted by Pluto, who was angry and asked why she had left her room. She said all she wanted to do was explore the castle, because being locked up in that room was horrible. So, Pluto agreed, but warned her not to wander into the west wing. Proserpina ignored what he said about the west wing, and continued into it. At that point she was curious about what was there. She noticed that there are prisoners being held there. They explained to her that they were locked up because they did not follow Pluto's
Proserpina didn’t want to have anything that King Pluto was serving her but she knew that he wouldn’t eat or drink anything while he was keeping her as prisoner. So, it has been a long trip and they finally show up to King Pluto’s castle. His castle was very dark, it had the color of cement and the structure of the building was very gothic and there were two vultures one on each corner of the roof. Trying to see past the vultures on the roof she saw that the castle has many towers on it.
First, the prisoners are described to have dwelled inside the cave their
Pluto had been, in his taciturn, brooding way, almost a perfect gentleman to her, every day that she spent with him. But she would never be courted like Venus was, or even Juno, when Jupiter in his contrariness determined that she'd be his queen and no other. And perhaps in her girlish dreams, if she'd had a choice, she would have chosen someone more like Apollo- young and golden-haired and courtly. Someone to sing her to sleep and surround her with blossoms and laurel. She hears his footsteps and turns, and like always, his striking face falls just a little

All he needed was a friend , girlfriend , or just someone, someone to talk with. Pluto was making Prosepina play games, dance , and sing ,but he couldn't realize her pain.
The animal could “see” the darkness within the man’s soul and it made him uneasy. The only way he could feel secure was if he removed Pluto’s eye and then asphyxiate him.
She entered the welcoming woods while the various birds chirped from the treetops. She approached the mysterious rock that spoke to her in gloomy tone. While sitting on it, tears dripped out of her eyes while she thought about much she has been abused by her step-mother. A fox crawled toward her and rested near her legs, just as the last tear left
Proserpina had doubts of drinking in the stream, but if she were to refuse, that would make Pluto even more upset. Pluto gathered some of the water from the magical stream for later. Proserpina had witnessed the castle for her first time. She was kind of shocked at the way it was displayed. The castle was in dark location, full of evil things that made her disgusted to look at. The castle door had a door handle in the shape of a lion's head.
