In the Tempest by Willam Shasphere the main character Prospero betrays the fairy on the island named Ariel. For instance, Prospero gives Ariel false hope that he would free her but instead he says “ Ariel,thy charge exactly is performed; but there’s more work.”p.521 l.238 This portrays how Prospero takes advantage of Ariel by giving her false hope of freedom. This also shows, that Prospero is manipulative to get his way towards Ariel.Despite him being so harsh towards Ariel we learn further in to the story Prospero does keep his word and release Ariel from being Prospero servant. In The Tempest we learn that Prospero was left on an abandoned island with his three year old daughter Miranda. He then finds Ariel as being a fairy type of creature who then cast a spell becoming Prospero personal servant.“ Ariel,thy charge exactly is performed; but there’s more work.”p.521 l.238. As can be seen this quote shows how Ariel is Prospero personal servant. He drops his harsh by first forgiving his sibling and later in the story dropping the spell on Ariel. Towards the end of the story, Prospero begins to get light hearted and begins to forgive. This favors Ariel because it means she can be released from the spell. In Prospero forgiving people he begins to notice the severity of his actions and how he took Ariel by force. Prospero then changes from evil and manipulative to kind and well hearted, and Ariel changes from malleable and nice to kind and free.These word describe Prospero because at the beginning it shows how he had no remorse to hurt people and in the end he got a heart and looked out for people. This hold significance to the story because it shows how the nature of someone frustration can bring them to do heinous
