I Miressa brown, was absent from EDUC 7703 social, cultural, and ethical perspectives on June 25, 2015. A few years back my dad was diagnosed with 100% kidney failure. So the morning before class he informed me and my family that he has been urinating blood and was told by the VA hospital that he can't been seen until June, 25. So we make the trip to Augusta and have tons of test done. We were told that they would be getting in touch with us. A week goes by, and we still didn’t hear anything, finally we get a call saying that all the tests were negative and that they really didn’t know what was causing it. Being the responsible person that I am, I informed my job and professors of the issue to determine what I should do about missing that day. On This week in class the focus was gender. …show more content…
I also used the PowerPoint presentation as a tool to help me learn the new material that was being covered. Because, I knew I had to write an absence paper, the information I found while studying and taking notes for the paper, helped me prepare for the revisions of my reflection paper. In the materials that were given this week, I learned several different strategies that I could use working with diverse students, especially those students who have gender issues. Students with gender issues fall under an umbrella, because gender issues is such a broad term it can be a huge number of things. A lot of these students are placed into four categories. These categories include: lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender. LGBT students face many issues in today’s society. On a daily basis, LGBT individuals face discrimination, harassment and acts of violence on a daily
SC placed call to Pa’s CG and friend Teresa Lim and for monitoring phone call because none of the numbers on file for Pa was in working order. She reported that the Pa is doing well and is taking a break from radiation and chemo. She Provided the SC with Pa’s new phone numbers. SC asked about Pa’s service and Teresa reported that the Pa is receiving her PAS service specified in her care plan. Teresa reported that the Pa is happy with her current service and do wish to make any changes right now. The Pa is satisfied with her services and feels they are meeting her needs. No falls, hospitalizations, changes in health status or medications were reported. The SC end call with Teresa and place call to Pa via language line interpreter Michelle. The
I found the central tendencies, the 5-point summary and the standard deviation of both of my variables; including for the variable that has data for 2 years. Interestingly, the variables had some common results. However, there were more differences then similarities, as each calculation had a variety of results. For example, variable X I calculated both years (1990 and 2012) and I knew already that each country had major differences between the two, but I think that affected the results in each step (the central tendencies, the 5-point summary and the standard deviation). It is noticeable to see how the mean and median in 1990 is lower than the mean in 2012, and this carried out through the rest of the next calculations. Comparing these findings to variable Y, I see that there is a tremendous

This study includes the results from the three participants, Mathew, Mark and Luke. The figures will be represented by the X- axis, which will show the sessions, and the Y-axis, which will display the number of times the participant engaged in the vocal stereotypy during the sessions. All data from the IOA agreement was calculated for 25% of each participant and will be included within the recoding. The ESE teacher was the second observer and was trained in all aspects of the study to assist with procedural fidelity. Social validity was taken into consideration by the results rendered from the parent’s observation and recordings.

Following up on my last field journal, I have successfully terminated the relationships with my clients at the agency. As I anticipated, I did not have any issues during this process. I am both surprised and not at the same time at the range of emotions I feel about leaving and terminating. I am truly a bit sad that I will not be working with my long-term clients anymore. Overall, I am mostly excited to have some time off and develop professionally in other ways.

Sandy, I enjoyed reading through your response and I agreed with many the important principles you were able to glean from the chapters. It was valuable for the Brice family to be to have the choice to continue therapy. The family was given the independence to choose to continue or discontinue the therapy. Your second observation regarding Napier and Whitaker’s thoughts on how couples aid each other in poor behavior was another concepts I found to be interesting as well. One of the main points I was able to glean from the chapter was that an individual may choose someone who they sense, unconsciously, the potential for a crisis which will force the individual to face their own central fears. The concept of choose a mate based off an unconscious

Delegation of authority is the act of assigning powers or authority to another entity. In this paper, I will summarize a situation where I experienced delegation of authority, and explain how it correlates to the content of Chapter Six, (Bagley & Savage, 2010).
A team meeting was held at Lutz today with Scott, his parents, this counselor, his teacher Mrs. Shannon, Vice Principle Nick DeVault, acting Principle John Nader, and Transition Coordinator Joe Delegato. The meeting was set to discuss Scott's participation in the STEP program and what his family is looking for when it comes to his MRS case and employment. Scott's teacher feels that STEP isn't necessarily the right placement for him and wanted to discuss this with the team. Scott's parents stated, " we have always felt like Scott has never been in the right placement. He is either to low functioning or two high functioning for the program he is in. We agree that his options need to be explored." His teacher Mrs. Shannon then went on to explain that although Scott does quality work on his sites, is always friendly, and hard working, there are a lot of concerns that are holding him back in the program. Shannon stated, " Scott has trouble staying focused, requires a lot of reminders, wonders a lot, takes a long time to complete a task (2 times the amount needed), is unable to work fast paced or multi-task, can't typically be left alone, and communicates inappropriately at times. Shannon stated that his need for constant supervisor and inappropriate communication is her biggest concern. Shannon stated that Scott often sings My

After reading through the chapter on the DMIS stages (denial, defense, minimization, acceptance, adaptation, and integration), I would say that personally, I fall under the “acceptance” stage. “This stage represents an individual’s ability to recognize and appreciate cultural difference in terms of both people’s values and their behavior” (Cushner, McClelland, Safford, Pg. 152). As it states, the individual experiencing acceptance is “beginning to demonstrate the ability to interpret phenomena within a cultural context”, I believe that this is a fitting sentence for myself. Being that I am from a rural prairie town in the middle of nowhere in Oklahoma, and the only people where I lived were other Senecas like my family and friends, I did not experience a cultural shock until I was in the sixth grade and had moved to Florida. In this town in Oklahoma, it was rare to even see someone described as “white”, as racial prejudice is still rampant throughout Oklahoma against Natives and basically, everybody who isn’t. I was taught to be accepting and welcoming throughout my life, and I believe that made the transition into a new cultural system much easier.
During the summers of 2015 and 2016, I got the chance to work in Istanbul, TR as a summer camp counselor. The program is called RC Summer and is an english immersion program for Turkish kids aged 7-14. As part of the program, the counselors are given a lot of free reign on the activities they can offer so I offered activities that ranged from building toys to making giant bubbles. My favorite activity that I offered was "Recycled Town." In 2015 the theme of the summer was "Move, Act, Make a Difference." Every other day, I would take my group of kids around campus and we would collect things in recycled bins and by the end of the session they had built their own town equipped with a bank, a nuclear power plant, a sewer system, a farm, and an
Prior to entering class I thought that the class was going to be about homosexuality and gender in the United States. I felt a little intimated walking into class knowing we would be having weekly discussions about sensitive topics. A lot of the students reflections from the first day expressed how I felt: “anxious,” “I like to listen and observe,” and exciting. It did surprise me that the basis of the class was not to bash men, and we stayed true to that foundation. I was very close-minded when I first entered the class. I did not know how to receive the information. Slowly I started entering the class with an open-mind and that facilitated a better learning outcome for me. I was more open to discuss my views; learn about others views without
