The three points that stood out in Chapter 1 are:
A. Developing a caring relationship with a client is an important aspect of case management. When meeting with a customer, the case manager needs to be cognizant of his or her verbal and body language clues are congruent. The initial engagement will set the tone for the future relationship with this client. Allowing the person to vent will provide clues about how he or she relates within the environment, including with family and friends. B. Ballew and Mink (1996) stated the importance of documenting and formulating a client “service plan” is critical p.21. This record would aid in maintaining order and planning of short and long-term activities. Sharing this with members of the management team facilitates collaboration among each discipline encouraging the attainment of set goals. …show more content…

The family or significant others brought into the case as soon as possible aides in the plan outcomes. They can reinforce the program and provide needed guidance and support to the client, to help improve the customer's self-confidence. Besides, they provide a second set of eyes for critical review of their loved one's progress within the plan.
