Week one, I learned about phytochemicals. They are a non nutrient substance, which means they have no nutrients in them. They are not processed or anything because they are naturally occurring in plants. They cannot be found anywhere else. Phytochemicals are not needed for short term survival, which means you don’t necessary need them. They are good though because they promote long term health. I applied this to my life by making sure I start having phytochemicals in my diet, so I can help out my long term health.

My topic of choice is how “fat” women (size 16-32) have societal pressure to perform hyperfeminine traits to be accepted by others. I could take parts of biophysiological theory group by defining what hyperfeminine traits are with the five-factor model. As a researcher, I would define it as low neuroticism, high extraversion, medium openness, high agreeableness, and high conscientiousness. I would like to interview women of all sizes and have them rate themselves on this scale. I would also like to use the idea of communicology by interviewing themselves in how the women carry themselves in the world.
