The study of the mind, psychiatry, has in the last few years struck an interest within me. I wonder why we react differently when we face the same obstacles. For example, families with several children, raised by the same parents and in the same environment, yet turn out to be completely different individuals, sometimes very disturbed. The how, why and where of it all interests me. My immediate goal is to get my diploma and find out who I really am and what my soul desire truly is. I realize I have a deep desire to be of service to others. This is not a skill however, it's just me. I do feel one of my strongest skills is my artistic ability. I have a taste for and enjoy a diverse selection of movies, music, and reading material. I enjoy

The shutdown of state mental hospitals and lack of available financial and institutional resources force mentally ill people to the United States Judicial System for mental health. Every year thousands of people are arrested for various crimes and they are sent to jail. Sixteen percent of these people have some type of mental health problem (Public Broadcasting System , 2001). When we consider that the United States has the largest incarcerated population in the world at 2.2 million, this number is staggering (Anasseril E. Daniel, 2007). This is about 1% of the entire population of the United States. There are many reasons as to why the situation has taken such a bad turn and when the history of the treatment of mental illness is examined one can see how the situation developed into the inhumane disaster it is today.

It seems that the more human development changes, the more there is a demand to understand the role of pharmaceuticals in daily life with regard to mental health. In the article, The Mental Heath Practitioner and psychopharmacology, "a growing challenge for mental health counselors is to understand the potential benefits and limitations of many different types of drugs" (Dickinson & Kaut, 2009 p. 204-205). Incorporating a thorough treatment plan, which might include the use of prescription drugs (Anderson & King, 2004).

In college, I was in class one day when I suddenly felt my heart pounding. Perspiration quickly rolled down my neck and I was unable to catch my breath. A few minutes later, but what felt like an unbearable amount of time, the feeling subsided but I was left unnerved. I later realized what I had experienced fit the criteria to be categorized as a panic attack. I researched it and found that it was not purely a physical illness; instead, it was psychologically driven. That was what sparked my interest to learn more about the human mind and the physical responses it can create. Psychiatry is a field of medicine that is boundless. Furthermore, it is integral to all of medicine. Many patients develop psychological sequelae as a result of other chronic illnesses. I have always been intrigued by the impact that our emotions have on our behavior. Throughout my life I have often wondered why do some minds create happiness, and others suffering, despite identical external circumstances.
Human service professional is required to help everyone in-need and to be able to advocate their clients (no matter what races, sexuality, mental illness etc.). From the beginning, I would review the psychiatric evaluation to find out the basis problems that my client has. I would look for the recommendation of the psychiatrist. The convergence of these factors would help me construct the right treatment plan for my client. A treatment that me and the psychiatrist would agree on to ensure it is for the best. As well, to ensure it fits to the financial line of the family and that they feel the plan will do justice for the client. The treatment is crucial for the client to improve its mentality and to create progress which is why it should be treated carefully.
Soldiers in the 23 RCT displayed disciplined initiative on many occasions. Before the battle at Chipyong-ni, the division medical battalion decided that they would no longer send ambulances into forward deployed areas to evacuate wounded Soldiers and that it was the responsibility of the units in those areas to move the casualties to the rear. The regimental surgeon's recommendation to re-designate the regimental collecting stations as regimental clearing stations circumvented the division's policy. Using modern terms, this would be like designating the Casualty Collecting Point as the Ambulance Exchange Point. Division did not argue with COL Freeman's decision and provided the ambulances.
Unearthed skulls dating back to 6500 BCE have been discovered by archeologists to have large holes drilled into the sides of them.
