Psycho opens with a series of Panorama across the city city of Phoenix, Arizona. The story starts with two lovers discussing their long distance relationship. We are introduced to the main character Marion, half naked laying on the bed and her loved one Sam. Marion is tired of this childish relationship and desire a respectable one, but Sam is in the middle a divorce and cannot sustain her financially, so she would have to keep her job in a different city. This voyeur scene enables us to identify the issues and abandon any stereotype toward the female play that we would normally held due her first impression in the movie. In fact, we are now able to empathize with the couple’s struggles. Along with the voyeurism, in his movie Psycho Hitchcock uses a variation of different techniques that makes his movie very unique. The mise-en - scene helps to tell the story more specifically when Marion is in her car and they’re voices over in her head. In this scene before she falls asleep and gets pulled over by the police officer we are made to hear what Marion hears, see what she sees, and even feel what she feels. In this scene also the music plays an important role, it captivates the spectator attention and emotion.
