However, Juno doesn’t call her mum, or stepmother. She calls her by her name, Bren. Suggesting that Juno doesn’t want to have a strong bond with her. This seems a little bit odd as Bren has been her mother figure for 10 years, since she was 10. Bren was quick to defend Juno when the ultrasound technician made an unfitting comment about her. Later in the film you can see Bren fixing Juno’s jeans in order for her to fit in them. She started adding elastic bands, in order for the material to stretch so the baby bump could fit. She was with Juno every step of the way, when she was in the hospital. She would scream at the doctors, so they would attend Juno. She was with Juno when she was in labour. She encouraged Juno to keep pushing. She was the mother of
There are movies and books that portray all types of “father-daughter” relationships. Some fathers are abusive, some are loving or (delete) and some are either (delete) non-existent. In On Golden Pond you see a distant, almost nonexistent, relationship between Norman Thayer and his daughter Chelsea. Norman and Ethel raised their only daughter on Golden Pond in the summer time, where they spent their time picking strawberries, swimming, staying up late, reading, boating, and fishing. The time periods where Chelsea is growing up is not actually shown in the film, but the way she acts toward her father, reacts to her past, and how Norman treats Billy Ray Jr. gives you a little insight on how she felt growing up.
The novel begins with the mother ignorant to modern society. Junior emphasizes this. "No one had ever taught her anything. She was an orphan at six months"(23). "At the age of thirteen, she was married off to a man rolling in money and in morality whom she had never seen. He would have been the age of
He usually let her out on the streets alone when she was young and often did not teach her the traditional paternal love and guidance in life. She eventually used this childhood to foster her own happiness, making it as positive as possible by herself, and instead of hating her dad, she grew to love him. Although my cousin did not exactly have Jeannette’s problems, she grew to continue loving him, which is what Jeannette did for
There were two different family structures portrayed in Juno, the first was Juno's family which included her dad, step-mom, and little sister. She also briefly mentions her mother who moved away and occasionally sends her gifts, but seems to have no other influence in her life. The second family structure was the couple that Juno decides she is going to give her baby to, this structure consists of the husband and wife and also, Juno since she is giving them her baby. The couple, Mark and Vanessa, play an important role throughout Juno's pregnancy, influencing the plot of the movie. Juno's friends Leah and Paulie, who is also the father of the baby, are also

Junior’s father is a complex character. In the story, he is presented as a controlling, authoritative and dominant person, but sometimes in the story it seems that there is more about him. “When we are alone he treated me much better, like maybe I was

In many families, the relationship between a mother and her daughter is the closest relationship in the family. The bond a mother and daughter have can be similar to bonds between anyone else in the family, a mother’s and daughter’s relationship is different than anyone else’s in many ways.
In my opinion, Harry doesn’t understand the true meaning of mothers earlier in the story but does get they have some sort of value. The repercussions of this lie in the story. Many times he brings up mothers whether it’s with his sick wife or the infant monkey’s mother. Harlow must not think much of mothers in general based off of what was said in the
Her father is completely self-absorbed, except for the fact that he wants to save his land
Juno's actions did affect those around her. Her father, her step-mother, her best friend, Paulie, and the Lorings'. Her disorder could have potentionally lead her to seeking comfort in another person, Paulie, and through that they had a child. The child's development affected everyone involved. Juno's relationship with Paulie was very off again and on again. She acted as if she did not want a relationship with him but once he spoke to another girl, she was
A few times in the book she would be inappropriately touched, or beaten up, and her father would do nothing to avenge or just protect his daughter. Brian came to her side a couple times and defended her against bullies, but Rex would never be empathetic. She had a little brother, but what she needed, was a preventive father. When Rex came home drunk most of the nights, he was violent and rude to his children. To try and make a difference for the whole family, and to get them to believe in Dad again, her birthday present she wished for was for her father to stop drinking. He lasted a couple months, but the disappointment and betrayal she felt of her father was immense and “...she couldn’t believe Dad had gone back to the booze” (Walls 123). She was the last to believe in him and with the overwhelming dishonesty and deception, at last, she had finally lost faith in her Dad.
She is not even given a name for this story other than Mama. Does this make her not worth of knowing? Is she so disrespected that she is not worthy? The answer really is—NO. She is the backbone of the family.
