One of the extracurricular activities that made the most impact on my life is being a part of Pueblo Central Gymnastics. I joined the team my freshman year of high school. The practice were from 7-9 at night, and living two hours away, it made for quite a few long nights over the four years I participated. But through this experience, I have forever been impacted. I was able to improve my gymnastics career and make life long memories and friends. I was able to bring a sense of hard work and determination to the team. With the four hour round trip and late night practice, I had many people not only on my team but people from the community commend me on how much dedication and hard work I must be putting in to continue my gymnastics career. All
I have been in a number of programs and extracurricular activities at Lincoln H.S. that helped me define my career goals and challenged me to the fullest. As I finish my journey from High School, I began to slowly realize that their was nothing tangible I had offered to this community, but I what I did offer was myself. Being on the Mustang Varsity team there was always this one person who showed me how to be the best tennis player. His name was David Dinh. David had shown me that their was more to tennis than winning the game, it was about having fun with your teammates/coaches and building relationships with others through a simple rally. His leadership skills and enthusiasm for this sport had influence my own perspective of
Club Champion Gymnastics is a gymnastics school. They have the gymnastics centers that are located in Pasadena, California and Monrovia, California. The staffs Club Champion Gymnastics of are highly skilled and accomplished gymnastic coaches. Their coaches are CPR and safety certified as well as Professional USA Gymnastics Members.
During my Junior year at Colfax High School, I was recruited into a new program called Link Crew which is a freshman transition program that welcomes incoming freshmen and makes them feel comfortable and supported throughout the first year of high school. This program was not only a club but also a class called Wings in which we would precisely plan Academic Follow Up's (AFU) for the freshmen, and organize events such as a Haunted House and a Blood Drive for the whole school. Also during my Junior year, I joined the Leo's Club which is a student run club that's purpose is to perform service projects within our school and community. I was able to become a certified volunteer of Colfax and Meadow Vista once I had not only met, but exceeded the minimum of 35 hours of volunteer work. Outside of school, I became interested in snowboarding which allowed me to get a seasonal job at a Ski
My involvement in extracurricular activities has helped me grow as a person over the past four years of high school. I have learned how to be more responsible, reliable, as well as how to be a team player and work well with others. I enjoyed playing softball and CYO volleyball and basketball. I knew it was not just about the game I was also about the people. I did my best to help my teammates.
The Future Farms of America or the FFA is the extracurricular activity that has affected me the most in my high school years and my life thus far. Many people may think that the FFA is only an organization of farms that go around judging cows and grow plants but we are much more than that. Through FFA, I have been able to come out of my comfort zone, take a leadership position, and learn to give back to the community. Meeting new people through all the competition the FFA does and working with members in my chapter caused me to make new friends who slowly help me out of my comfort zone. I even gave a speech in front of my whole about how FFA can cause anyone to step out of their comfort zones leaping out of the zone myself in that moment. As
Throughout the past four years of high school, I have done my best to try and stay actively involved in the community. I have been presented with some amazing volunteer opportunities such as Huron Safety Town, STAR Leadership Camp, American Red Cross, and Huron High School Girl’s Basketball Biddy Program. I spent over 24 hours at Huron Safety Town where I was able to help young students, mainly those going into Kindergarten, learn how to stay safe while on the road. I was also able to spend over 24 hours at STAR Leadership Camp where I was a councilor to those going into the sixth grade. I made sure that each student understood the importance of being a leader in today's society and how important they are to Huron’s community. Through National Honor Society I have been able to maintain in constant contact, approximately 10 hours, with the American Red Cross by volunteering in monthly blood drives. I have also dedicated 16 hours of my time to those young girls interested in someday being a varsity basketball player through the Biddy Basketball Program.
Finally, I was involved in my school’s Link Crew. Link Crew is when upperclassmen decide to be mentors for upcoming freshmen and new students. While I was in this club I helped give tours of the school, involved new students in extracurriculars, and became their friend/role model. Doing so helped me gain a better self-awareness of how my actions influence others and gave me experience in being a leader. Though some may see these clubs and sports as a waste because they are not relevant to my upcoming career, I find them as great experiences that helped me grow as a person.
One of my most enjoyed extracurricular activities is National Honor Society because it allows me to engage with the community around my school. It also gives me the opportunity to work with people from other grade levels by having projects that require the input of all the members. Usually the meetings are two every month but on special events like the special olympics or winter formal it can change up to 4 every month. One of the events that the group did this year was preparing banners for the special olympics. This small project allowed me to learn more about the special ed group that is on our campus and how there needs to be more effort to integrate them in our school community. This year I had the opportunity to work at my school's thanksgiving
Throughout high school, I have participated in numerous school sports and activities. Cross county had a tremendous impact on my life and the lessons I have learned from the sport I will perpetually cherish. Another activity I have been a part of for three years is yearbook. I am the senior editor of the yearbook and have, thus, learned to engage my leadership skills. Additionally, choir is an activity I am passionate about. Singing is an escape from the chaos of my day and I revel in the joy it brings me. Furthermore, my two friends and I brought forth the idea of a cross country ski club at our school, and we initiated its formation.
My variety of well rounded activities underscore my personality and character. Choir, musical acting, cross country, track and field, chess club, National Honor Society (NHS), and Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA). I participate in cross country and track and field not only because I like running, but also because it builds character. It creates a noticeable difference between those who are disciplined, and those who aren’t, between who works hard, and who decides to slack, and between the leaders and the followers. Every day I commit myself to being disciplined, working hard, and leading the team. Though cross country and track are the largest extracurricular activities I am involved in, choir, NHS, and FCA fall close behind. Choir allows me to create beautiful music, not just listen to the songs on the radio, and also allows me to fall in love with the chords, the notes, and the rhythms that are composed within it. NHS pushes me to keep using my intelligence to the best of my abilities, and when partnered with discipline, elevates my grades. FCA allows me to lead and show others that I am a believer in God, for He is the center of my life. Finally, chess club pushes my strategizing abilities, while always having a near infinite number of moves that can be conducted. Though each extracurricular
Every four years, people look forward to athletic competitions where different countries’ top athletes compete for a gold medal and to prove they are the best. This gathering of elite athletes is the Olympics. A staple of the Olympics is the gymnastics competition where men and women effortlessly defy the laws of physics. There is, however, a lot of biomechanics that goes into creating the tumbling passes and routines.
Biomechanics is the application of mechanical analysis to study body movements, this allows for research and developments into everyday activities. Often time biomechanics is used to study different sports and the movements that an athlete would complete in relation to that sport. One sport that there was a desire to do biomechanical research was Gymnastics. Gymnastics is a sport that incorporates full body movements, to better understand the body movements’ biomechanical studies are used. These studies allow for research to be done into how the body moves for a specific movement, then the movement can be optimized being able to improve a gymnasts skills. Also these biomechanical analyses can help understand
Gymnastics is one of the hardest sports in the world. It is made up of four events: vault, bars, beam, and floor. Each of these events are difficult. Practicing for a gymnastics floor competition is not easy. It includes many steps such as warm- ups, tumbling passes, and dance moves.
When I was younger, I was deeply fascinated with gymnastics. The flips, the stunts, and the overall energy which went into the sport had me captivated. This new admiration of mine completely took over me, to the point where I would binge watch gymnastics competitions and tutorials on how to do whatever I watched. By the time school came around, I quickly told my friends my new obsession and how much I’d like to try it. Needless to say, they were as fascinated as I was. Each recess we would practice our cartwheels, somersaults, and backbends. Our fun resulted in annoyed soccer players, whispers, and odd looks, yet we were all too enthralled to care. Their attitude only pushed me further, where I soon created my goal: to be able to do the splits within a month. Realistically, it seemed very
Gymnasts are known to be strong and have good coordination. I was a gymnast for eight years, and never once had gotten injured, or even gotten hurt the slightest inside the gym. Although outside the gym, that wasn’t the case. My coaches had always told my teammates and me to be careful outside the gym because that’s where we would get hurt the most. Boy were they right. That is why I have come to the conclusion and stand by the statement of, things aren’t always what they seem.
