Animal Experimentation is the use animals in scientific studies. At Least 90% of experiments in animals fail in humans. Therefore there really isn’t a purpose to animal experimentation if it isn’t accurate. Animal Experimentation should be terminated because it is old fashioned, bad science, and unethical.
Archaic means very old/old fashioned. Using animals to experiment for cosmetics and pharmaceutical products isn’t “in” anymore. According to Paula Moore scientists can replicate human organs on microchips to test the impact of potential drugs. If this is possible why isn’t it being done as of now? Nowadays technology is taking over the world. “Compute models can stimulate the progression of developing diseases and accurately predict drug

National Cancer Institute Director Dr. Kichard Klausner states “decades of HIV and AIDS experiments have failed to produce effective vaccines for humans even though at least 85 were successful in primate (mammals) studies. This just proves to show you’re killing these innocent animals for no reason. If the goals is to sicken/kill human patients by all means go ahead. “ 9 out of 10 experimental drugs drugs that pass animal studies fail in human, and few that are approved often need to be relabeled or pulled from the market after they sicken or kill human patients”. Just to think that an “estimated 26 million animals are used every year but it’s all for nothing. Just like us humans have a conscious animals also have a conscious. Humans seem to forget that animals feel fear, shame, resentment, sadness, and more. According to Ms.Moore “it is morally wrong to poison, infect, burn and cut up animals in a laboratory”. I agree, think about it animals are almost exactly like humans they still have feelings and they can feel pain so technically it's torture and it should be illegal. And to make matters even worse while they are testing the animals scientists need to have a vet “on call” incase the animals get severely hurt or injured but most of the scientist don't
In conclusion animal experimentation should be terminated because it is old fashioned, bad science, and its is morally wrong. And all we can look forward to in the future is that we stop experimentation on animals and start using
Animal experimentation is used widely across the world. Millions of animals are put through horrifying experiments all for research purposes. This is because it is thought by many people that animal experimentation for research purposes is the best technique to gain knowledge on diseases and find cures, which is not true. Whatever goes on beyond laboratory walls has no limit. Famed primatologist Dr. Jane Goodall stated, “In no lab I have visited have I seen so many chimpanzees exhibit such intense fear. The screaming I heard when chimpanzees were being forced to move toward the dreaded needle in their squeeze cages was, for me, absolutely horrifying.” This quote is an example of on of the horrific things that can be seen behind laboratory walls. The animals there are kept in barred or concrete cages. They sit in their cage, suffering from pain, loneliness, and stress, waiting for the next painful experiment to take place. After, being put through pain, loneliness and terror the animals are usually killed when they are done being used. Experimenting on animals is wrong in many ways. It goes against animal rights, the results are not reliable to humans; making it a waste of time and money, and it causes a great deal of unnecessary pain for animals. With that being said, animals should not be used to experiment on for research purposes.
Every year, a total of one million children die from pneumonia. If you multiply that number by one hundred, you will have the number of animals that suffer painful deaths due to medical experimentation in U.S. laboratories each year. This number includes animals of all types, from mice and rats to fish and birds. These animals are typically used because of tradition rather than actual scientific reasoning, making their deaths all the more cruel. Animal experimentation is not only unethical, but ineffective and expensive. It should be phased out and replaced with technological alternatives.
“The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated” (Mahatma Gandhi). Scientists have been using animals for biomedical research for centuries. They provide a source to get information scientists can not get without harming humans. A lot of debate is spread about whether it is good or bad. Animal experimentation is a controversial topic because it is helpful to humans, but it is also cruel and inhumane.
For thousands of years animals have been used as research subjects, but with the advancement of science and society, animal experimentation has morphed into a controversial bioethics topic. Animal experimentation is the use of animals in scientific research. This experimentation ranges from testing pharmaceuticals on rats to measuring the elasticity of tendons in rabbits to implanting mechanical devices in calves. And while the FDA has dozens of guidelines to keep animal testing as ethical as possible, a strong opposition to animal research (particularly mammalian research) still exists.
Before, animal experimentation was something that people needed to do to find cures but it is not needed anymore. “For many laboratory scientists, this waning approval isn't cause for concern, because a near-identical trend is emerging within the research community, and more and more U.S. labs are using innovative cross-disciplinary technologies to spare at least some of the 25 million animals used for research annually”(Ericson). Now, in the 21st century scientist have developed countless things that can be used for experimentation than animals. So many labs and scientists are using theses new ways to end animal experimentation. Also, scientist can test and do experiments for countless things without worrying about laws and the amount of animals that are dying now.“The innovation takes the place of animal mediums: Instead of running the drug through an animal liver, a chemist can now force the drug to react with the chemosynthetic liver. "(Ericson). This is just one of the things that scientist have discovered to do experimentation with animals. This method is so much better than using animals. This is not just beneficial to animals but it is also beneficial to scientist because now they can know more about what is happening when they test things. These new ways of experimenting do not just save the lives of animals but they also help scientist do
“Current research provides compelling evidence that at least some animals likely feel a full range of emotions, including fear, joy, happiness, shame, embarrassment, resentment, jealousy, rage, anger, love, pleasure, compassion, respect, relief, disgust, sadness, despair, and grief.” (http://bioscience.oxfordjournals.org/content/50/10/861.full). By experimenting on animals they are suffering the same way a human would if they were being tortured. However, under those circumstances, humans could try and fight back whereas animals are unable to do so. There are alternative things scientists could do instead of hurting animals. They could do testing in vitro, which is also known as the test tube method. Also as I previously said they could do the experiments on criminals that are in prison for life. There is a method called microdosing. Microdosing is a method “in which humans are given very low quantities of a drug to test the effects on the body on the cellular level, without affecting the whole body system.”
Animal examination saves lives. A few animals that are used in experimentation are a small price to pay for all the progress we’ve made in the medical field. I read somewhere that animal’s must suffer so that humans don’t have to. According to the L.C.Animal website, 97% of 10 Billion animals are tortured and killed each year by factory farms. According to Peta website only 100 million animals are killed each year, which includes rat’s frogs, and
While many people think we are using animals to benefit ourselves, these experiments are also benefiting animals. When we use animals for research, people should know that it is not just benefitting us but it is really helping improve the life expectancy of an an animal and future as well. Animals are living better because of animal research. Pets and livestocks are living more comfortable. More than 90 medications developed for humans are used to treat pets, farm animals and wildlife. A number of medical treatments and vaccines used to treat animals were originally developed for humans through animal research. If vaccines were not tested on animals, animals could have died from rabies, feline leukemia, infectious hepatitis virus, tetanus, anthrax, and canine parvovirus.
Animal research has been used for several centuries as part of experiments conducted to assure the safe use of medicine, food, cosmetics, and among other products. It is an important issue because it concerns millions of life animals that are constantly in danger for unethical practices. Animal testing has brought many debates worldwide among countries that are against this practice. I believe that the use of animals for such purposes is cruel and unnecessary.
Animal experimentation is not necessary anymore due to modern day technology. New technology is built all the time now. Some of that technology can be used to end experimenting. What is the point of experimenting on animals if it doesn’t always apply to humans? The testing is cruel. If you love animals, then take a stand. Stop animal
According to PETA, “People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals”, more than 100 million animals are killed in laboratories for research and other testing. My proposal in this debate is to explain why animal testing is wrong and should be banned. Some reasons why we should ban animal experimentation are, they make many animals suffer then die and the results in the end are not always accurate.
Currently it is estimated that more than 100 million animals are used for research and experimentation on around the world every year. Apart from all the benefits of animal testing there are many good reasons which support banning the experimentations on animals such as: animal cruelty, selfishness, and danger of using the experiments result. Therefore animal experimentation should be banned.
Animal experimentation is cruel and needs to be banned. It is another form of animal abuse. The animals are locked in cold, tiny cages in laboratories waiting in fear of what might happen next. The animals are being treated cruelly and being injected with substances that the scientists do not know if it will harm the animals. “Right now, millions of mice, rats, rabbits, primates, cats, dogs and other animals are locked inside cold barren cages in laboratories across the country. They languish in pain, ache with loneliness, and long to roam free and use their minds. Instead, all they can do is sit and wait in fear of what the next terrifying and painful procedure that will be performed on them (PETA).
Every year in high-school, the discussion about animal experimentation would be brought up either in a Science or English class. The discussions would last about three quarters of a period, and they would go nowhere because nobody could agree whether it was a good or bad thing to do. I would always be in the middle of the debate because, I believed that it was a good thing. I am for animal experimentation because it has revolutionized the medical field, regulates the overpopulation of certain animal species in the environment, and follows a certain set of laws set by the Animal Welfare Act.
Animal experimentation by scientists can be cruel and unjust, but at the same time it can provide long term benefits for humanity. Animals used in research and experiments have been going on for 2,000 years and keep is going strong. It is a widely debated about topic all over the world. Some say it is inhuman while others say it’s for the good of human kind. There are many different reasons why people perform experiments and why others total disagree with it.
