In the fall of 2017 I plan to attend Grace College and major in nursing and graduate with a bachelor's degree. Throughout my whole life I have always loved helping people by either going to mission trips or helping out for a fundraiser’s at my church. I have realized this early on in my life which has inspired me to pursue a nursing degree so that I can improve the lives of others. By researching different areas of where nurses can work I have always wanted to work in a large hospital and be a surgical nurse. I feel like this job fits many different areas of my life which include loving science and math classes, being a problem solver, being able to work long hours, and knowing where everything is at. There are many different options that come
My desire to pursue an advanced degree in nursing relates not only to one event that has occurred in my life but a succession of personal and professional circumstances. My mother was a Registered Nurse (RN) and worked full time for 35 years in a hospital. She was regularly consulted by family members, friends and neighbors for medical advice and I admired the way she was able to help others recover their health and improve their quality of life. Helping one of my uncles during his recovery from an amputation of both legs was also a turning point. My uncle froze his feet, and the gangrene from his frostbite became septic. An emergency surgery was performed to amputate not only his feet, but both legs just below the knee. Short after the
Making way downtown in a dirty, congested country, I see blind people selling nuts in the street in return for some money. Being merely a tourist in Egypt, my actions wouldn't prevail any good-doings due to my age and lack of experience in the medical field. All I could do was buy nuts, donate some money and food, and I was off my way, back home. As I grew older, I've become more aware that my desire to get into an amazing school at home with a nursing program is a big desire in my life. NYU can make it happen for me. From enrolling aspiring doctors to actors, the school which is located in the heart of Washington Square Park, is the place where I most desire to be. Due to its sheer location in the heart of the city, many students are allowed to take on internships, and use a variety of a diverse staff and and resources.
The tasks of a nurse fascinates me; I have had several opportunities to observe nurses in hospitals and I find their work intriguing. I have always been interested in the health field and performing the jobs of a medical professional. Ever since the age of twelve, I have known I wanted to attend a university and pursue a career in the health field. I have always had an interest in my science courses, specifically biology and chemistry and have excelled in these areas. I want to be able to receive the best education possible and make my parents and community proud. I wish to do more for my community than just being a typical nurse and I will be able to do more by becoming a nurse practitioner.
One of my favorite writing assignments that I wrote along this year would be “Career Plan”, since it helped me find out what I really want to be and learn more about that Career. Searching for career is really helpful and it helps you decide on which one you want the mot and think it’s more convenient for you and you know you will be able to accomplish.
Since I was in grade school I always had a dream of going to college and becoming a doctor. I pushed myself to maintain an “A average” and continued to be involved in sports and school activities. Both my personal and professional lifetime goals in life are to provide and offer true love and compassion for humanity. With my goal of obtaining a nursing degree is extremely important to me as it would allow me the opportunity to fulfill my career goals and desires.
The Institute of Medicine (IOM) recommends that nurses further and obtain a degree in education at the baccalaureate level by 2020 to eighty percent. The baccalaureate degree is achievable and is critical in changing workforce by allowing the expansion of nurse’s skills and competencies in all areas that affect the community, public health, leaderships and research.
Nurse practitioners can write orders and diagnosis patients. However, the ability of nurse practitioners to practice to the full scope of their training is a growing debate in many states in the country. Primarily because of the American Medical Association and American Nurses Association conflicting views on the training nurses receive compared to the level of training physicians receive. Physicians complete undergraduate, medical school and depending upon their elected specialty four or more years in residency and possibly fellowships. Nurse practitioners at this time only complete two years. Their limited training is a real point of contingent between the two organizations.
A year ago I went in the journey of looking for a better nursing job at a bigger hospital. What I founds was that most of the hospital were looking for a bachelors degree, they stated that it is not mandatory but at least the nurse have to be enrolled in school working on the bachelors in nursing. It is definitely a competitive market that does not only measures years of experience but the educational level as well (Altmann,
Caring for others has always been a passion of mine, and becoming a nurse has always been my dream. While my dream has turned reality, I can say that nursing has blessed me with the opportunity to not only be a servant to those in my community, but it has also allowed me to be of some comfort to patients and their loved ones during their darkest and most vulnerable moments. Nursing offers a variety of opportunities, where the only restrictions are the ones we set for ourselves. As for myself, all things are possible, for if I want it, I strongly believe it’s already mine. The depths that I will go to reach the latitude of success that I so desire is boundless.
Pursuing an associates degree in nursing without three children and a career is hard enough, so I can only imagine the stress this senior student is going through in the presented learning exercise. I believe the logical decision for this student is to quit her part time job so she can focus more on herself, her children, and schoolwork. In this situation we do not know how supportive her parents are that she lives with. I would assume that they are rooting for their daughter to complete nursing school and are willing to do all that it takes to help her achieve this goal. Money is always an issue, so I also believe the student should try to take a loan out to help with school expenses and any other expenses she may have. Taking a loan out to
When I think of learning I think of gaining knowledge and the process of learning continues throughout life. Obtaining a nursing degree is important to me by not only learning but also growing through the process. I feel that challenged students that work hard get great rewards. To be an honors student, you need to be excited about learning, have an appetite for engagement and know how to engage in the world meaningfully.
Growing up playing with my with my siblings and relatives made me want to pursue a career in Nursing. We would always pretend to work in a Doctor’s office and I would be the nurse. I would always say when I get older I’m going to be a nurse and helper others. So when it comes to choosing a career of my choice, I would like to be a CNA . CNA is abbreviation for Certified Nursing Assistant which job duties consist of providing basic for patients in hospitals, long term facilities such as nursing homes and home health care for the elderly who can’t provide for their selves.
By achieving a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing at the University of Florida, I hope to acquire the knowledge and the skills imperative to work in the medical field. As a graduate, I expect to have obtained proficiency in teamwork in order to function with other nurses and doctors in chaotic areas such as the emergency room; as well as the ability of assisting patients while working under pressure in extreme scenarios as it is in the case of an operating room. Since it is an exceedingly delicate field, hospitals or other medical facilities are expected to hire responsible and clinically knowledgeable employees. Likewise, a competent training is essential in the course of taking care as well as saving the lives of patients. With this knowledge
Although not a setback, I am venturing into a profession new to me and for my family. My father did not complete high school. He emigrated from Ethiopia to a refugee camp in Kenya and was fortunate enough for an opportunity to move to the United States. My mother underwent similar struggles on her journey to America. She was able to complete and earn an associate nursing degree and she's been a dialysis nurse ever since. The one more or less challenges on my end is that there are no doctors in my family that can relay information or reassure me with advice about their experiences. Although it would be beneficial to have someone a physician in the family for advice, and encouragement, I know my family will still be my encouragers and support
The plan that I have for my future isn’t a very clear one and I’m still trying to figure out what I want to major in and do with my life. If I were take on the health care path as a profession I think I would want to be an anesthesiologist the most. Towards the end of last semester I was thinking about nursing because of all the different people I knew that were in it and how much they liked it. While talking to my parents about it they also thought that it would be a good fit for me and that I should go for it. After this semester with Professor Selzer’s class I realized that nursing wouldn’t be the best for me, I would still enjoy it but I think I can only take so much of people, therefore I’d rather put them to sleep. Anesthesiology is the
