It has been my dream and goal to pursue a career in medicine for as long as I can remember. Becoming a physician will allow me to combine my passion for science and medicine with my values of service and helping others. Pursuing a Masters of Biomedical Sciences will allow me to gain valuable knowledge and experience necessary to become a successful medical student and future-practicing physician.
I graduated from the University of Kansas in May with a Bachelors of Arts in Spanish, while also on the pre-medical track. With my degree, I was able to take the general science requirements necessary in order to matriculate into medical school, with only a few elective science classes such as Biochemistry, Cellular Biology, Microbiology, and Mammalian Physiology. Pursuing a Masters of Biomedical Sciences would allow me to receive more exposure to upper level science courses and help to build a better science foundation that will allow me succeed in medical school. Due to having a minimal background in biology courses, I want to make sure that I am prepared as possible for my medical education. This program would also allow me to better understand the rigor of medical school and how to properly manage the course load in order to do well and comprehend the material. I took a year off after my undergraduate studies to serve as an AmeriCorps member in a non-profit health clinic. While gaining clinical exposure has been

This year serving in a holistic primary care facility and my own personal health experiences have shown me the value of having a holistic approach to medicine. This masters program would allow me to become integrated into a setting in which I hope to study and practice
My academic and research experience at University of Washington helped me realize the importance of health science and that I am suitable to study biomedical sciences. UW is well known for its rigorous health science programs and biology related courses. However, my resolve to do well does not falter a bit when I am challenged with the demanding coursework. Rather than being daunted by the challenge, I feel compelled to expose myself to the vast knowledge of the biology due to curiosity and passion. I thank UW for the hardship because it makes me more determined to go into biomedical sciences.
Currently, I am in the process of earning my Bachelor’s degree in Biology with a pre-medical emphasis from Grand Canyon University. Upon graduation, I hope to attend either a medical or physician assistant school. My specific goal in the medical field is still up in the air, however, I am avidly exploring the fields of pathology, oncology, emergency medicine, and surgery. My interest in the medical field was sparked by my human anatomy and physiology class during my senior year of high school. Put simply, my life in high school was rough, and I was completely lost, as far as my career decisions were concerned. I enrolled in a human anatomy course, to fill a hole in my schedule during my senior
UC Merced doesn't offer a med school for graduate students, so I plan on transferring into one of the five undergrad UC schools that offer a med school, to make the transition easier for applying. The five UC's I'll be applying to are UC Davis, UC Berkeley, UCLA, UC Irvine, and UC San Diego. While attending a UC, I must meet the requirements for my Biology major. The requirements for biology are most science related courses such as Contemporary Biology and Lab, Biology; The Cell, General Chemistry, Principles of Organic Chemistry, Genral Chemistry II, Calculus I, Calculus II, Introduction to Scientific Data Analysis, Probability & Statistics. These are all the required prep work to get into a great med
Biomed Academy at my high school will be the most contributing factor to attain my goal. This academy has changed my perspective about medicine career. I have gained tons of knowledge from BioMed academy in these high school years. This will help me to attain my goal, because the knowledge gained from this academy will help me to be a successful medical professional. The principle of Health Science, Health Science, CNA, psychology, Biology, and anatomy and physiology are classes that prepared me to be an eligible Pre-Med applicant. I have learned from the basic structures of the body to the complex structure of the body, and from classroom to hands-on experience at the rehabilitation center. These years in BioMed Academy will help me to attain
I have cultivated many skills throughout my undergraduate education that I believe will help me succeed throughout medical school. My decision to become a doctor did not happen overnight but was a passion that grew with me and inspired my entire life. I am eager to start my journey at Morehouse College of medicine and become a physician that provides quality treatment and works on improving health care in rural areas and underserved communities in Georgia and across the United
Moreover, the mission of Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine, of improving the health of the Southwestern United States and Northern Mexico is a vision that I share. Growing up in this region has allowed me to see the value of having individuals from the community serve as physicians. Furthermore, this will help close the primary care gaps in the underserved rural and Hispanic communities. I believe that the post-baccalaureate program of Foundations of Biomedical Sciences will give me the opportunity to demonstrate my capability of succeeding in a rigorous academic program such as Burrell College of Osteopathic
Since then, I've been looking at different universities that will benefit me while being able to further my education. Some of the main courses needed include biology, chemistry, and physics. While attending school, I plan on volunteering a near hospital or something along those lines to gain some knowledge and experience. After receiving a bachelor's degree, it is required to continue into a 4 year in medical school. In the first 2 years, classes will consist of anatomy, pathology, pharmacology, and biochemistry.
My father is going to retire in some years and my mother is a house wife. They both have invested in their house heavily therefore these reasons might affect my family’s ability to fund my college tuition.
My effort to serve my community have been an immensely important area that I always try to expand on. From my hundred and seventy service hours, I have learned that giving back even in small amounts positively affects the lives of the people involved. My favorite memories of serving my local area is during the special NJROTC ceremonies when I am able to see the wonderful faces of veterans and military families when we present the colors or the veteran with a flag. Through school, I have been able to see the faces of incoming freshmen in my workroom mature into the present sophomores and the students today. In my church, I am apart of the Ushering team which assists with the service every few weeks. Through this, I am able to see the bright
My passion for medicine is something deeper than a mere interest in learning the extraordinary functions of the human body. I am completely fascinated to learn gross anatomy, histology, pathology, and the complete medical school curriculum. However, I am more captivated by how the knowledge I will gain in medical school will allow me to perform the lifesaving procedures that physicians are able execute. Although, medicine is not always ideally as I have written, I believe that as a physician I would use my knowledge and my experiences to provide the best holistic care to my patients. My culture, my experiences, and my education will bring a different perspective to the medical field. I aspire to have the ability and knowledge to save a child that might not live, to save a woman that suffers a heart stroke, and to even provide the necessary treatment for a child with a mere cold. Additionally, participating in the Loma Linda Gateway to the Health
After attending Texas Tech University, to further my education pursuits, I have decided that Texas Tech University Health and Sciences Center (TTUHSC) School of Medicine is my next destination. However, prior to taking this course, there were questions I had and requirements that I was unaware of that TTUHSC School of medicine requires. Prerequisites that an individual must complete are as follow: six hours of biology, six hours of upper division biology, two biology labs, six hours of general chemistry, two general chemistry labs, six hours of organic chemistry, two organic chemistry labs, six hours of physics, two physics labs, six hours of English, and three hours of statistics (math based). Biochemistry is also required by TTUHSC which
Firstly, I want to follow my passion for the medical field with a biology degree. It will help me to get a good foundation when I get into pharmacy school. Choosing biology as my major is a good opportunity for me to learn new things that are a benefit later when I take the PCAT. At some point, the researchers have shown that people completed in a four-year program to receive a Bachelor of Science degree in biology, chemistry, or in the familiar field would get higher chances of admission to the pharmacy and medical school. So, I need to work hard for it.
Ever since I was a young kid I have always been interested in movies. My grandma, who was full of the wise the life experience left, always knew about my interest in movies. She feed my vain for the art. Even though her religion, she professed Adventist of seven-day religion, didn't let her go to the cinema, she always found the way to took me to the cinema. She and I enjoyed watch movies. We used to sit in the darkness room, with our faces illuminated from the reflection of the light which rebooted from the screen, both absorbs in the plot of the movie which made us laughed or cried. After the movie, while we went back to her home, she started to talk about the movie. She had a particular point of view where the main story
The masters program will widen my scope of knowledge and skills in both the management and medical field. The program is in line with my passion and to accomplish it will be of importance to my career targets.
Although medical schools are not solely interested in science majors, it is important that the student take the required courses in order to gain acceptance into medical school upon recieving a Bachelor's degree. Many pre-med students study vigourously and maintain grade point averages of 3.5 and above. However, due to the many hours that are put into school work, the number of pre-med students drops drastically during the last two years of college in which preperation for the MCAT (Medical College Admission Test) begin. The scores on the MCAT will determine if there is any chance of being
