As a home school student, I have flourished in activities that otherwise would not have been available to me. My high school has centered around politics and speech and debate tournaments. The flexibility in my schedule has allowed me to travel to pursue my goals. My parents have allowed me to maximize on my experiences throughout high school. For the last four years I have had opportunities to take part in political campaigns around the country. I have campaigned in Florida, Virginia, Louisiana, South Carolina and my home state of Georgia. A lot of the campaigns I work with promote Constitutional values, Christian values or conservative values. I became so interested in politics that I would spend most of my free time trying to learn more
I have decided on what I wanted to do with college since I was a child. It sounds ridiculous, but I am passionate about what I want to do. I was inspired at a very young age since I was in third grade, and I knew that I wanted to be a teacher. A teacher for what grade is what I did not know. As my family grew bigger with my nephews and nieces, I realized that I wanted to be surrounded by kids. I put what I wanted with my passion and got major. My intended major is to receive a double major in Primary and Elementary education, my goal is to receive a Masters in at least one of these majors.
As with most people engaged in this class, I have contemplated the question: what do I want to accomplish with my life? This intricate question burdens many people, not just those of us that have chosen to continue our education. I have seen it with my own children as they contemplate which career path will lead them to a comfortable life with financial stability. My most obvious goal and reason for enrolling in University of Phoenix is like every other student: to complete this program and earn my degree. However, the fruition of my goal ultimately depends on the fulfillment of smaller, more personal ambitions. My first objective was
My mother battled mental illness during her life. Unfortunately she lost her battle in September 2013. Since her surprising death I have soul-searched and researched ways to help others like my mother. That introspection has brought me to your program, Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling.
I am intrested in gaining my Masters (MS) in Psychology to extend my knowledge within this field and make an impact in society. Graduate school will llow me to understand the human mind and how they all function individually. I aim to teach Psychology and become a Academic advisor at a collegiate level. While choosing a path during my undergraduate studies, I knew that anything I decided to do would make a impact in society and that has become my passion. While taking a few Psychology classes during my undergraduate studies, I was very intrigued with my class Social Psychology as it seemed to involve both Sociology being my major and Psychology. I m intrested in helping the community
I am enrolled at Wallace Community College Selma, with tasks setb ahead of me and goals set to achieve. Wallace is my foundation to making those goals a reality. My short term goals are for me to get through my freshman year of college, with acceptable grades; also for me to have good grades the second semester. My long term goals are for me to have qualifying grades upon transferring to the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa in the field of nursing with the aspirations of getting my BSN in nursing; also to graduate from the prestigious University of Alabama; a may even go as far as pursuing my Master’s.
Why am I here at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, and what do you hope to do when you graduate? I am here at the University Of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) to become a college graduate and pursue my goals in my life. UMES has a Pharmacist department and Physician Assistant department, which one I plan to partake in after graduation. I am here to take an advantage on those particular departments to become the future Physician Assistant and or Pharmacist. UMES also have a biology major which I considered due to the fact that biology is required for the career fields in which I am most intrigued by. UMES is also where I received my college credits as a high school student.
Ultimately, my personal career goal is to help elucidate the molecular pathways of neurological disorders, while also being able to apply my knowledge directly to patients. Thus, a course plan within the Molecular Basis of Medicine (MBM) foundational area, combined with a Neuroscience, Behavior, and Cognition application, would be perfectly tailored to my interests. Though I have experience in bench work at the Champagne Lab, and bedside work at NYPH Weill/Cornell and TCC Health Care respectively, I am truly interested in the bench-to-bedside approach taught extensively throughout the MBM program. The Stanford Neurosciences Institute would provide a myriad of exciting opportunities for pursuing further research into the molecular biology and
Both my personal and professional goals animate me and motivate me to pursue and finish my degree. The personal and professional are fundamentally interconnected. Personally I aim to live a life filled with a sense of meaning, and growth. These terms are purposefully broad in nature so that I have space to specify how they manifest themselves in a variety of ways. These broad personal aims become more tangible, and are matched, through more exact professional goals. Currently, I am working with a start-up charter school project serving the needs of high-school dropouts. This aligns with my sense of meaning because service to others, particularly through education, is valuable to me. Within the next five years I would like to found my own social entrepreneurship project. I do not see a world in which accomplishing this, and my broader aims, is
Politics is defined by Webster dictionary as, “the activities, actions, and policies that are used to gain and hold power in a government or to influence a government.” I aim to one day work in our government and influence lives in a positive manner. I want to help create a sound government in any way possible. Intellectually, I yearn to learn more about the processes in government, to overall aid in my professional goal of being a successful politician.
In reviewing my three goals and updating them into the DAPPS system of effective goal writing using the five qualities that DAPPS stands for. Dated is giving all of my goals a time frame. Achievable is when you choose goals that make up grow by attempting to reach the goals. Personal are the goals you come up with that are your own personal goals that you will look back on your life and say I achieved my goals. Positive is how you should view your goals and the wording that you use when you write them. Specific are goals that are measurable, achievable and concrete.
Dr. Orison Swett Marden once said, “All who have accomplished great things have had a great aim, have fixed their gaze on a goal which was high, one which sometimes seemed impossible.” Goals are important for the reason that they keep you focused on what you want to accomplish in life and gives something to work towards. My first personal goal is to return to the soccer field following my ACL injury. My second personal goal is to one day have a family of my own. My professional goal in life is to graduate college and become an occupational therapist.
As a child and even as a teenager one tends to make dreams and set goals for life. On occasion these goals are far stretched and sometimes even fairy-tale like, we tend to see life through a rose-colored glass, not taking into account the many sidetracks life throws our way. At that stage in life our goals tend to be less focused and somewhat unreachable. However, the process of growing up, or maturing, tends organized and center our goals, we learn to make compromises and set goals for our goals. There are different types of goals, short term and long term. I have learned to separate the many goals I have into three main categories: family, professional and personal.
There are multiple goals I want to accomplish in my professional and personal development. In ten years, I plan to be living in Boise, Idaho. I hope to have a husband and children of my own. I anticipate living close to my family, they are important to me and influence who I am as an individual. In the beginning of developing my professional career I plan to start off in a hospital setting working with acute and sub-acute rehab populations. I plan to grow professionally in the hospital setting and find opportunities to advance my knowledge as an occupational therapist. I also want to work in a pediatric outpatient clinic. Professionally I plan to be certified in NICU, sensory integration (SI), and joint mobilization (JM). Those are three areas that I am passionate about and feel they will provide me the skills to become a well-rounded therapist.
Since I was young, I knew exactly what I wanted to do in life, to be successful and happy. My whole life, I have been surrounded by prosperous family members and family friends. Growing up around these people, I came to acknowledge that they had a sense of stability and happiness about them because they got to get up every morning and go to a job they love. However, what I admired most is their success did not come easy, they worked hard to become the respected people they are today. This assisted me in adapting three strong core values: personal growth, entrepreneurship, and respect.
Personal goals setting allow students to decide what they want to achieve, and then step-by-step move towards the achievement of these goals (University of Hull, 2016). Furthermore, achieving these goals provide student the confidence to strive for higher and more difficult goals in long-term (University of New Hampshire, 2016).
