Long ago under the sea, there lived a royal mermaid family in a beautiful kingdom. Queen Ryell bore six flawless daughters to King Adron, however, one was not ordinary. She was the youngest mermaid and never fit in with the rest of the girls. She possessed long blonde curly hair with bright blue eyes. She was unique in her own way and talked to everyone she caught sight of. Although she was curious of what was outside of the Kingdom gates, she obeyed her parents and never departed. Her name was Luna. One day on Luna's eighteenth birthday she wanted to explore the sea in depth. She obeyed her parents for eighteen straight years and needed to peruse her dream for just one day. She thought no one would notice her nonexistence, therefore, at midnight …show more content…
As she was swimming, she witnessed a young man arguing with his father. Luna's eyes widened and her heart raced, it was love at first sight. The beautiful mermaid approached the handsome boy and had a civil conversation about their similarities and strict fathers. The merman was named Dallas, and he was the prince of Luna's fathers rival kingdom. After hours of discussion, Luna had to return home. When she approached the Kingdom gates her father was standing there furious. Luna explained her actions and informed her father on her love for Dallas. The king demanded her to never leave the kingdom again. King Adron did not believe in love at first sight. Luna lost control and told her father she was a grown woman and could take care of herself. He told her if she completed four nearly impossible assignments, she could marry her sweetheart. The tasks where to travel to the evil monsters cave and gain possession of her gold broom stick, kill six repulsive sharks on the far end of the ocean and bring back their fins, destroy the eleven evil eals, and lastly prove the merman was in love with her. Following this, she began traveling to the evil monsters cave to retrieve the broom stick. When she
When the little mermaid went to the sea witch to be changed into a human, she told her, “How stupid of you! Still, you shall have your way, and it’ll bring you into misfortune, my lovely Princess” (Anderson 226). The sea witch had already warned the little mermaid even before she made the potion that it would not go as she planned. The little mermaid, being young and foolish about love, did what she believed was right. The tone here spoken by the sea witch gives caution towards the mermaid. Anderson uses the witch as a way to portray to the reader how it is easy to make mistakes in the matter of love. This example is given when the witch informs her that, “… and if you don’t win the Prince’s love, so that he forgets father and mother for you and always has you in his thoughts and lets the priest join your hands together to be man and wife, they you won’t get an immortal soul” (Anderson 226). The author uses a reproving tone to demonstrate to the reader how the little mermaid is foolish, carried away in her childish dreams. Anderson characterizes the sea witch in such a way that her dialogues warn women to be careful when it comes to sacrificing themselves for anyone.
Even as a child, Margaret Knight was different from the other youth. Living from 1838 to 1914, she was born in York, Maine, but moved to Manchester, New Hampshire where her brothers became overseers in a cotton mill. Knight was a tomboy. Instead of dolls she enjoyed tinkering and creating things, and she often made kites and sleds for her brothers. Like most girls at the time, she helped run the machines in factories that produced textiles and shoes, but unlike the other girls, she used her time there to create inventions that improved the safety of the workers. Once she saw a shuttle spin from a machine and stab a worker. At just twelve, she invented a stop motion device to protect the employes from these dangerous situations. Sadly, she
I, Ella Dutton, have officially been a “lifer” at St. Anne’s. From Pre-K to eighth grade, I have continued to be a contributing member of the community. Throughout the years, I have been a tour guide, led an activity period, been a member of Tech Crew, and participated in as many sports as possible, been in three drama productions. I’ve also made many amazing friendships with people who I never thought I would be friends with. At St. Anne’s, I have learned everything from diagramming sentences to how to strive to be the best person I can be. It has definitely been a long, but wild ride at St. Anne’s.
Elizabeth (Voss) Lorne had only one sibling who lived past childhood. She and her younger brother, George, were born in the Soulard Neighborhood in St. Louis. They left St. Louis after the death of their father, Johann Voss. Their mother, Friederike, married Heinrich Ruesse and moved with her two kids to his farm in Washington County, Illinois. In 1930, George and Minnie moved to a house in Okawville Township. They raised eight children

Night after night, I sat vigil at the same nest of tiny turtles submerged in the sand. That was until one of those nights, something incredible occurred. Flipper by flipper, Luna struggled to pursue the large, glistening moon that hovered above the ocean's gentle waves. Luna is the name I had the great opportunity of bestowing on a tiny sea turtle. As my heart swelled with happiness and pride, I thought to myself: What did I do to deserve such a life altering experience?
Throughout this entire I have learned so much about men, and the variety of behaviors they possess in different social contexts. Out of all the ideas I learned I found one extremely important and interesting, father-child relationship. Specifically, the differences between a traditional and an involved dad. I always knew that not every parenting style was the same among fathers, and how some were more involved than others. I never thought there was a category of these two types of fathers. After breaking down each category, a lot of it made so much sense. The most important thing between the two was the emphasis on how the traditional dad tends to deflect the responsibility of parenting, while the involved dad has a committed
As a payment for Ursula’s magic potion, Ariel must sacrifice her beautiful voice (Disney). Ariel’s desire for life “where they walk, where they run, where they stay all day in the sun,” is more priceless than her family’s honor, her mermaid fins, and her voice (Disney). In order to keep her land legs, Ariel must win the prince’s love before sunset on the third day (Disney). After many events concerning Ursula’s evil intercessions, Ariel’s dreams become a reality when Eric defeats the sea witch, wins back Ariel’s voice, and marries her (Disney).
“The Little Mermaid” by Hans Christian Andersen is one of the worlds most cherished fairy tales. Through the years, this story has inspired its fair share of different adaptations and spinoffs, as well as intertwined itself in popular culture. Although it is widely considered a children’s story today, upon close examination, we can find various elements of literary devices and themes, all of which provide the seasoned reader with a deep connection to the story. To honor the tradition of story-telling, it is essential that a short summary of the story be given.
Edith Cavell was a British nurse who worked at a hospital in Belgium. In the summer of 1914, Edith Cavell, head matron of the Berkendael Medical Institute, was on a holiday visiting her family in England when news came of the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand in far Sarajevo. Edith's family urged her to stay in England, but she believed duty demanded that she return to the hospital in Brussels. When she said good-bye she did not know that she would never see her family again. Soon after the Germans invaded Belgium, the hospital where Edith worked became a Red Cross hospital and she cared for wounded Belgian, German, French and British soldiers.
Luna always had a fascination with the moon. From the moment she knew what her name meant, she had always enjoyed learning as much as she could about what was above the world. In her youth it was common to see her visiting the library every week for more and more books until she exhausted the library of all relevant books.

When the little mermaid turned fifteen, she went to the surface and saw a ship. Speeding along majestically, a storm rolled in and the ship was broken to bits. She went to save the man from the storm and brought him to land. She saw how hot he was and wanted to marry him. The little mermaid asked her grandmother about humans and learned about human souls. After hearing this, she wanted to marry the man and get a human soul, but first she needed legs.
One of the minor characters I want to talk about is also a teenage mermaid and a princess. Her name is Serafina and she is around 15 years old, too. She is also Neela’s friends. She has short copper-brown hair, dark green eyes, and a silvery blue tail. She loves to listen to conches (like reading) and learn about Merrows Progress (A journey her ancestor went on to hide each of the talismans). She is brave and will do anything to save her
