Problem Sheet 7: Instrumentation
1. Describe the types of instrument(s) you plan to use for your study (e.g., interview protocol, attitudinal survey, achievement test, observation scale, questionnaire, focus group protocol, etc.).
I will use for the study the interview and the Questionnaire as they are more focused and trendier as compared to the new aspects of research.
2. Is it a preexisting instrument or one you plan to develop?
It is the pre-existing tool and I want to implement it in the new scenario as there will be more to be developed and the neartends are not existing in the industries are from the great research in the sustainability field.
3. If preexisting, state the name of the instrument. Also, why did you decide to
The methodology used will be my questionnaire; this will be shown in contrast within results analysis in the form of pictorial results and statistical evidence.
4. What are the limitations of the survey method, and how would you overcome the limitations of this research method, or any research approach?
6) Prepare the survey for analysis. Set up the code sheet for this study. How will this study be set up to be tabulated by a statistical analysis program like SPSS?
The topic chosen for research will indicate the method to be used e.g. voting would involve the
2. select a quantitative research study. Identify and describe the method(s) used to describe the data in this study. Was the appropriate method(s) identified, in your opinion? Could other methods have been used to describe the data in this study? Be sure to properly site the study you chose within your post.
There are a number of methods of collecting data, some of them are – questionnaire, surveys, checklists, interviews, observations, focus group etc (Cordray, 1986; Einhorn and Hogarth, 1986).
2) What methodological tool(s) has your organization relied upon investigate that question and identify answers?
What objective data will you need to collect during your examination? Explain what techniques you will use to obtain this data.
The question will explain why the research is necessary and place the study in context, by drawing on the work already presented prior to research. When reporting how research is done describing it in detail is necessary to understand. Researchers should be able to describe the research tools used, if there is an existing tool used, by stating the psychometric components while providing references to the original development work. If a new tool was used, it should be included in the entire section describing the steps undertaken to develop and test the tool, including results of psychometric testing. Meanwhile, when reporting survey research there should be details describing how the sample are selected and how data is collected to include; how potential subjects were identified? Who approached the potential subjects? Where were potential subjects approached? How was informed consent obtained? How many participants agreed to participate? How did the participants who agreed to differ from those who did not agree? What were the response
The researcher will look at different methods and decide which should use to gather the information required to answer the hypothesis questions. These methods may both include quantitative and qualitative approach such as interviews, questionnaires, conducting experiments or gathering data through statistic. After choosing appropriate methods, the researcher will investigate possible ethical implications, validity and reliability of the data collected.
What kind of result was found by the research design? Compare the effectiveness of the survey research to the other subordinate data, experimentation or observation in the perspective of gathering information for this project.
The procedure used to collect information for the research study is a survey and the techniques used were interview and questionnaire. An interview is when questions are posed to an individual to obtain information (What Is Survey Research? - Definition, Methods & Types, n.d.). A questionnaire is a series of written questions a participant answers (What Is Survey Research? - Definition, Methods & Types, n.d.). Follow- up questionnaires were administered to participant face- to- face and participants who were living long distance were interviewed by telephone.
What type of sampling would you use for your study (considering the design you have chosen of course) and why?
What do we have data on and what further data do we need to collect. The sources of information considered in the study are helping to determine the type of research design used during the study.
3. At this point the general direction of the research has probably made clear which of the various research or design types is most appropriate. For example, it may be decided that a survey, or an experiment, or some other design should be used.
