Question 1 Obesity is a significant problem in the contemporary society and the American community has experienced significant difficulties as a result of the matter during recent years. With one in four adult Americans being obese and one in three being overweight, it seems natural for people to be concerned with the issue. Obesity is largely considered to be the major cause of type 2 diabetes in the U.S. The malady is not only responsible for increasing the prevalence of diabetes as it is also likely to play an active role in triggering affections such as high cholesterol, high blood pressure, gastroesophageal reflux disease, and a series of cancers. Obesity is not only a significant issue because of the physical diseases it can provoke, as it can also trigger psychological and emotional problems, as individuals suffering from the malady are probable to have trouble integrating the social order and to be accepted by particular groups. Many individuals fail to acknowledge the gravity of obesity and they are largely inclined to believe that they are perfectly able to deal with the problem without having to see a specialist. However, a doctor can play an important role in assisting people overcome their problems and in being able to get actively involved in a process that can help them recover.
