Exemplary Teachers 1. Who was the teacher who had the most positive influence on you? The teacher who had the most positive influence on me was named Mrs. Hand. 2. What subject and grade did he/she teach? Mrs. Hand was my second-grade teacher. My elementary school split teachers for half of the day and she taught social studies and English. 3. How did he/she have a positive influence on you? Mrs. Hand has a positive influence on me because of her enthusiasm for the written word. I had always loved reading, and all of my teachers encouraged that passion, but she was the first teacher who seemed to really share that passion. 4. Who was the teacher whose class you dreaded the most? The teacher I dreaded most was Dr. Carver. 5. What subject and grade did he/she teach? I have a difficult time answering this question, because Dr. Carver failed to teach his students any subject. He was assigned to teach 6th grade science. 6. What were the reasons you dreaded this teacher's class? Dr. Carver was the stereotype of everything negative about a teacher or a scientist, all rolled into one: he made assumptions about students based on their appearances and what he knew of their siblings; he required the students to address him as Dr. Carver, though it was a ridiculous formality in a sixth grade classroom; he spoke disrespectfully to his students, belittling them about their intelligence, appearance, and family backgrounds; and he was disheveled looking,
The paper titled “The Truth about College Teachers” is a former student’s analysis of her past professors. She categorizes them into three categories, the Knowledgeable One, The Leader of Intellectual Discussion, and The Buddy. Overall, this paper was interesting to read but came across as whiny.
U1 AC 3.1 - Explain the relationship that exists between the teaching role and other professionals, as listed below, then think of other professionals that you come into contact with and explain the relationships. (Please attach any additional sheets and supporting evidence.)
When I was 5 I went to Eisenhower elementary my teacher in kindergarten was Mrs. Herbst. All of my teachers were just ok but then in fourth grade I had an awesome teacher named Mrs. dune she gave us an extra recess and just gave us candy if we were good. She had us play with computers if we got are work done.
On February 1st, I visited the Britton Macon Area School. The teacher I observed was Ms. Richardson. She teaches a self-contained classroom for middle and high school grades. I started the observation at 8:00 A.M. until 11:32 A.M.
Wiest took the time to listen to my troubles and work with me outside of class. She even invited me to come drink tea in her office if I needed a break or was not feeling well. But more importantly, she helped me put everything into perspective and I made some tough decisions. I cut down on my work hours, took a few months off from orchestra, took less volunteer opportunities, and learned to prioritize my responsibilities. Mrs. Wiest also helped me with my work when I was falling behind and let me take her finals at different times to balance my work load. I panicked when everything got difficult, but she supported me. If any teacher has made an impact on me during my academic career, it was certainly Mrs. Wiest. She goes above and beyond for her students and wants everyone to succeed. With her help, I was able to succeed during a very rough
She is a great inspiration to me, and inspires me even more to become a teacher.
Mrs. Wilson is the teacher who has had the most impact on my life. She was my first grade teacher and the woman who gave me a love for learning. I was a child with a very low self-esteem. I felt like I struggled to fit in, I had two older brothers, who to me, seemed to be great at everything. My brothers are four and five years older than I am. My oldest brother got straight A’s and my other brother was very athletic.
My fifth grade teacher, Mrs. Wilsey, has influenced my life. Right before I entered fifth grade, I was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease. Crohn’s Disease is an incurable disease that causes inflammation throughout my entire gastrointestinal tract. While in fifth grade, I had to miss numerous days of school because of the treatments I would receive during the school day that was three hours away, as well as suffering from complications due to my Crohn’s Disease. Even though I was worried about falling behind in my classwork, Mrs. Wilsey was always there for me and guiding me through the most difficult time of my life. She was always willing to help me get caught up with the assignments I missed, and she would allow me to have extra time to make
My mother, Kelly Perkins, has been the most influential part in my life of reading with the way she made me when I didn’t exactly want too and taking me to visit libraries and famous authors houses.. This might have to do with the fact that she is an english teacher and has discovered that children who read more typically do better in school. Since reading is her area of expertise she influenced me from a young age to appreciate reading, although that may not have always been the easiest with a stubborn child like myself she still managed to never give up no matter how difficult I was. Suffering through we managed to come out with many stories to tell.
I asked Mrs. Barkley if she worked with other teachers to plan and jointly facilitate learning; she told me that she personally does not. She said that she never combines classes or teaches with another teacher in the same classroom. She said the only thing that the teachers do together is come together in meetings and discuss progress of their classes and test scores. This came as a shock to me, I thought that teachers would be meeting often to combine curriculum in a way that’s meaningful. I thought that teachers would want to allow for cross-curricular projects to allow students to make the connections between subjects. When I am a teacher, I would like to work with other teachers to jointly facilitate learning, if possible.
Mrs. Wood is the person who has influenced my view of the world. She was my ESL teacher in third grade. I would attend her class for about 3 hours everyday and sometimes even more when the teachers from other classes had no idea what to do with me when I started crying in class. Mrs. Wood was not only my teacher but my counselor. She encouraged me to believe in myself and to always put the best effort in anything I do. Mrs. Wood has impacted my life in a way I want to impact others by
One of the most memorable teachers I have ever had is my fourth-grade teacher. Not only is Mrs. Lozano a great teacher but also an influence in my life. When I came to the United States, my motivation for school was not the same. I did not comprehend English and I felt like a stranger at school. However, Mrs. Lozano helped me with these struggles that I faced during my first year.
When I was in fourth grade my math and reading teacher was mrs. Smith. Mrs. Smith was a very nice teacher the nicest I've ever had. I was one of her favorite students I still see her at my brother's open houses. At the end of the year both teachers make a speech and speak it to the whole fourth grade. I was in mrs. Smith’s end of the year speech.
I believe teachers play multiple roles that extend beyond the classroom. They take classes continuously, attend professional development sessions, and research new approaches to learning on their own time. These are done with the purpose of expanding their knowledge in teaching and to ensure that the school day runs smoothly for the entire class. For example, Mrs. Shuffield spend her breaks researching videos to enhance her writing and science lessons. This week, she presented a rap video on photosynthesis to help students memorize facts about it. The children really enjoyed it and I could hear them singing it as they left the classroom.
Teachers play a pivotal role in shaping the behaviour and educational success of students and as such they carry a huge responsibility in the classroom. Everything the teacher says or do has a great impact on students’ lives as students depend on the teacher for guidance, for determining acceptable and social behaviour in the classroom and more importantly their learning and academic success. In addition, the role played by the teacher in fostering students learning causes them to exhibit certain attitudes which could have a long lasting negative or positive influence on students. Based on research it was surmised that high teacher expectation mean that the teacher believe that the student is a high-achiever and the dynamics
