Rachel had just settled under the crooked Douglas fir with her sketch pad and pencil when she was distracted by a commotion coming from the office of the Seattle Bear Sanctuary. She glanced up, the breeze ruffling her wavy auburn hair. Excited voices squealed, ringing across the courtyard. "Oooh," she said to the bears she was sketching, "something exciting for us girls today!" The three grizzlies, Marcia, Jan, and Cindy—sisters who had lived at the Sanctuary for most of their lives—turned their heads toward the office. Rachel had come to love these three brown bears, and they seemed accepting of
The important thing in the reader response theory is the interpretive of the readers itself, rather than the author or even the text. The theory gives the competence to the reader to critic the text, however with the condition the readers have the evidence or research from other people toward the critic. The way of their interpretation may reveal their identity, because the reader gives the critic depends on their knowledge and experience (Philip Goldstein, 2005). Everyone has their own perspective toward anything, especially for the literary works. Each of people perspective is unique. That is why reader response was created. The theory is about the transaction between the writer and the reader. The writer composed a meaningful text, whereas the reader composed an interpreted meaning of the text. Reader response is not about destroying the writer’s idea, but it is more constructing the work itself (Louise M. Rosenblatt, 1988).
The causes of the civil war have been many, the general focus revolved around social class inequality, poverty and repressive military rule. Before the war, almost everyone in El
“Were going to be doing a very messy and chaotic project today!” she said that eagerly and walked to the end of the room. She slipped off her fuzzy slippers to reveal mis-matched socks.
The chapter started with Cole still lying down on the ground with a broken arm, pelvis, and rib. Today, Cole’s blood was running fast than the streaming rain until the bear approached him. The bear sniffed at Cole as if he had a strong desire to know something about Cole. As the bear stayed motionless, Cole was 100 percent sure that this gigantic beast would kill him. Strangely, Cole was not scared of the bear anymore. After the fear was gone, Cole decides to rub his shoulder so he could feel the warmth. Suddenly, the bear moves and proceeds his way to the bay.

Arizona was back again with her heart set on joining, well rejoining really. She had been traveling once again but found herself being pulled back here. The first time she was here it was when Ichigo was still leader, he was kind to her along with Littlepaw. There was Shininglight and a couple others but she couldn’t place their names. Then the second time around Littlepaw had done some growing up and was the leader! The polar bear was proud and thought a lot about how someone so young was leader. Of course, it isn’t like she was old when she became a medic. Either way she had a good feeling about Littlestar and prayed that they were still here.

i am working-class, black, gay, queer, autistic political activist, who has ideas and concepts which challenge the images typically featured in extremely white Bear Culture. Bear Culture is a subculture of gay men that are often larger or medium and hairy. When I explored the subculture as a part of my process of coming out as a queer man, I saw very few black men and people of color in the culture's media except for works made by Japanese gay men who identified with the Bear Culture and other gay artists of color. Japanese artists like Seizoh Ebrubashi, Genoroh Tagame, and Kazuhide Ichikawa produce work that is not Eurocentric, feature aspects of their culture and feature men that are Japanese instead of making work featuring mostly White men.
In today’s society, most people like to believe that racism and discrimination is a thing of the past. But as many race-fueled incidents begin to surface throughout the nation, we begin to see that it is still a common issue. It has even fanned out to Universities across the United States. In CNN’s article written by Holly Yan and AnneClaire Stapleton, “University of Missouri students report threats; police quell KKK rumors” we get a chance to witness these incidents and how it has affected the surrounding community and the nation. The article even clearly states that “African-American students at Missouri have long complained of an inadequate response by university leaders in dealing with racism on the overwhelmingly
After an exhaustive and tiresome show, a young Britney Spears was prepared to crumple on the lounge chair in her changing area. Advancing toward the back of the amphitheater, the shouts of the audience were reverberating in the halls, Britney rapidly snuck inside her changing area and thudded down in her seat. Britney began scanning the room. These changing areas were beginning to have striking resemblance to all the other rooms - a washroom/shower off to the side, a large couch in the focal point of the room, a table covered with a wide range of food and beverages. It was dependably the same as always and Britney was becoming weary of it. She was a pop star. She was cherished by a large number of young ladies and by significantly more a large
Love exists in the short story “The Bear Came Over the Mountain” by Alice Munro and in the short story “What We Talk About When We Talk About Love” by Raymond Carver. in Munro’s short story the plot is that of a mentally ill wife, Fiona, who falls in love with another patient while her husband still tries to hang on to their old love. Her husband eventually wants to have an affair with the wife of the man his wife is having an affair with. Their love changed because of their circumstances due to ill health. Carver’s story discusses the different definitions of love due to the type and quality of relationships; everyone has a different definition. Love also exists all over the world within different environments and cultures. The concept of love depends upon the environment in which it inhabits. Love is dependent on the life of the people in love and it also depends on their current environment. Nature and nurture are also huge factors into the development and process of love. What nature and nurture mean is whether it is due to how the person lives and acts along with their personality compared to whether it’s all in their genetics beforehand. Love is more on the nurture side instead of the nature side of human experience.
“The Bear,” by Tom Lombardi, is about of a husband and wife. While reading the story you start to understand that Gary, the husband, doesn’t seem to care to much about his wife, Lois. Gary doesn’t seem to even care about Lois. Gary was very unsensitive when it comes to things. In the story, while they are in the woods, Gary tells Lois to pay attention to bears, if she sees a bear, she should not be scared, but don’t be stupid. While Lois went to use the restroom one time, she encountered a bear. However, during this time, she felt that the bear was communicating with her. In the story, Lois talked about the bears puppy-like eyes and that the bear rolled over and showed his belly. In a way, this made Lois trust the bear and not to fear the bear. The bear tells Lois that he has seen Lois and Gary together making love and he
Rose didn’t know why getting a coffee at lunch was a bad thing. Who cared if ‘Race’n Rosie’ got a coffee break between games? The Cougars game was at five. Besides, she needed all the caffeine she could get if she was going to be stuck in a sweaty locker room with the coach. The mean Mr.Coach who insisted she sign five waivers before the game so the whole team could get in on a sponsorship from some big retail chain. Rude Mr.Coach who threatened her that she couldn’t participate if she didn’t have them signed by two. Clumsy Mr. Coach who trips over his own damn shoelaces.
The quaint Grizzly Bear Lodge just outside of Yellow National Park has been operating efficiently and effectively for years with a focus on service excellence and employee empowerment. The owners, Diane and Rudy Conrad have an opportunity to expand their business by purchasing the property next door. This expansion would more than double their current size as well as expenses and staffing. While this is a potential exciting time in their business, careful thought will have to be used in the planning, control and financial management of the expansion.
