In the song “Radioactive” by Imagine Dragons the band talks about prison, hope, depression, and an uprising. Throughout the song, the band explains some of the meanings that the song is about. Imagine Dragons explain why the composer Paul Rodgers wrote the song and how he did it. The main reason that the composer wrote the song was because Paul had a friend who went to prison and explained to him that prison is just hard and physical labor. In line 6 the band sings “I wipe my brow and sweat my rust meaning hard physical labor or work. Another line saying “All systems go, the sun hasn't died” (line 31) meaning that there is still hope left in a person through a tragedy. Lines 12 and 25 say “I'm waking up, I feel it in my bones” which means
Sweet Jesus! Rebellion never sounded so good, that’s what Green Day taught me with their song “American Idiot”. Witnessing America drown in a multitrillion dollar debt and foolish societal injustices will make even the sanest person go nuts.
As the power of a song resides completely in its lyrics, it is no longer surprising that music can be healing, inspiring, or even motivating. After introducing this insight to my life, it became very rare for me to listen to any Imagine Dragons’ song without it leaving an impact on my life and my perspectives. Imagine Dragons is a rock band whose music tends to address both personal and social issues. It’s Time, one of their biggest hits and most influential songs, was written by the band’s lead singer Dan Reynolds during a difficult time in his life. “ I was not very happy with who I was, I guess, and I wanted to make some changes” says the singer in an interview with Purevolume , in which he addresses It’s Time as a poem he wrote to express
Evanescence is an American rock band known for song, Bring Me to Life. Bring Me to Life is a song about being lost and in a state of depression until you find that one person to break you out of that sad state. This song was inspired by the lead singer’s, Amy Lee’s, husband. She says that when she first met her husband that he could somehow see inside of her and bring her to life when at the time she was going though a hard time (Edwards, Evanescence’s Amy Lee: how we made Bring Me to Life).
Hollywood, the best place to go to get a shot at being in the spotlight. Weather it be for a career in acting or singing there are many guidelines one must follow to make it to the big-time. In some cases one might have to hide an aspect of themselves in order to achieve their dreams.
Everybody experiences hardship in their lives. The trouble can be as small as feeling overwhelmed by school or a job, or the trouble can be as large and devastating as losing a loved one. No matter the reason, the hardship is never easy to overcome. When people experience such things, it can leave them in a state of mind where they feel like they are alone through their situation. When I feel down, or when I hit a rough patch in life, I always go to a song that has always meant the world to me and that song is called “Not Alone” sung by RED. In my opinion, this song has a beautiful melody, touching lyrics, a heartfelt theme. In addition, it has Christian references.
The song 99 revolution was written by a latter- day punk rock band that hit the scene formation back in 1987. 99 revolution was on the band album Tre that was released from September to December of 2012.The song was based of Political Frustration and the working class. This song was also part of a political comedy called the Campaign. The comedy was based on two Politian’s vying for a seat in congress. The song 99 percenters goes all the way from cops, firefighters, nurses, teachers and a lot of people from the working class. In one part of the song the band asked the question how the working stiff became so obsolete. Meaning a person who works for a living. A wage earner of some sort. The song is also based on how the 1 percent should be taxed
The two songs I will be comparing are “Centuries,” by Fall out Boy and “21 Guns,” By Green day. I chose these songs, because I love the bands and even more importantly, I love their music. Not one song is the same, so I chose these songs to research so that I can better understand what I enjoy in a song and what interests me. I first found Fall Out Boy when listening to the radio. After that, I looked them up on YouTube and now they have become one of my favorite musical groups ever. I found out about Green Day while listening to a Pandora Station. I have been listening to these bands for around three years each and have been hooked on every song they release.
Blackberry Smoke is making waves with a brand new single. The song, "Waiting for the Thunder", screams about the crazy world we live in and is extremely rock-centered.
On October 23, 2015, Australian band 5 Seconds of Summer released an accurately named album: Sounds Good, Feels Good. After a successful start with the self-titled debut launch last year, the group needed to develop their image even further. From long thought processes, late night song writing sessions, and trips to the recording studio, Sounds Good Feels Good was born. Members Luke Hemmings, Ashton Irwin, Calum Hood, and Michael Clifford gave a voice to the youth who feel broken through the tracks on the new record.
The start of Imagine Dragons was in Provo, Utah where lead vocalist Dan Reynolds met drummer Andrew Tolman while attending Brigham Young University. Then soon in 2009, the group included guitarist Daniel Wayne Sermon, bass player Ben Mckee, and Andrew Tolman’s wife Brittany Tolman on keys and backing vocals. Originally Dan Reynolds was from Las Vegas but then the whole group came from Las Vegas.
I am a huge fan of The Supremes. This song is a classic and could still be played today and people would instantly recognize it. The chorus is very catchy as well:
Through the idea of SCIFI and real-world problems, there have been songs describing the future chaos and our world today, as the band Imagines Dragons with the song Radioactive. In the song Radioactive, the main theme is speaking about is how technology has made our world into a battleground, using nuclear bombs to fight, as the speaker is revealing the condition of being a prisoner. Using technology has made our world into chaos, as humanity uses bombs to fight with the world in corruption and chaos, “I’m waking up to ash and dust” (line 5) by using the idea of what the world will end up “I’m breathing in the chemicals” (line 7). Just as the speaker is telling the world that our society needs to stop the corruption and the hate or else we’ll
Song Lyrics for "Ol' Red" by Blake Shelton With Ol' Red’s girlfriend pinned up in the swampland about one mile south of the prison gate, his plan was in place and time to make an escape, knowing full good and well which direction Red was going to be heading, he would be heading the opposite direction with a good head start. History has displayed how creative inmates have been in plotting an escape. Ol' Red was written by Hoyt Axton, found on a studio tape in 1999, and Blake Shelton had a hit with it in 2002. But it wasn’t until he met Mae Boren Axton, mother of country music star, Hoyt Axton, that things began happening.

The song "The message" by Grandmaster Flash and The Furious Five depicts the struggle of young black adults growing up in society. The struggle to make it out of poverty can be compared to survival of the fittest in a jungle. Only the strong would survive and adapt to the changes to fit in. Trying their best to make a betterment with whatever little society offers. Being a young black African American in the early 1980's was not easy. It was easier to live the fast life and gain fast money by being part of the drug community. Drugs, guns, and money was glamorized and this is what the young adults looked at as a means of getting rich. In the songs, a young man talks about how he is trying hard to hold on to the little bit of sanity he has left in his soul. He talks about the struggle he endures while trying not to get pushed over the edge. He was born an innocent child who's blind to the ways of mind kind. Growing up he faced many challenges and had to fight
