Career day in 10th grade is the day I learned about the field of radiology. I went home and researched radiology right away. I found radiologic technologist and decided to make this my career goal. I applied to the Reading Hospital School of Health Sciences, went through the process, and here I am ready to graduate from the Medical Imaging program. Once registered as a radiologic technologist, there is plenty of opportunity to accomplish goals. A career is something you can continue to work on even when you think you are accomplished. The program I wish to have been enrolled in and graduate from is Alvernia’s online Health administration program. It is a 123-credit program with 37 credits being specific in Business and 26 credits in Healthcare, and the remaining credits in liberal arts (Alvernia). Since I will have an associate degree after graduation, I anticipate most of my credits will transfer, which would then lead to less credits needed to obtain my bachelors. This program will qualify me to work in healthcare, corporate, or federal agencies (Alvernia). I would be able to work as a: hospital and nursing home administration, practice manager, director of operations, personal care home and assisted living manager, billing manager and health insurance claims manager (Alvernia). While enrolled in a bachelors’ program, I plan on being employed with a full-time job. Through applying for a full-time position at Reading Health System or other facilities with a full-time position open. This will be a heavy work load for me, but I believe I would be able to manage it. I worked through my high school and Medical Imaging education. Completing my bachelor degree will also be another financial responsibility which is why I would prefer to be employed full-time. By this time, I would have had to complete two separate- 24 continuing education credits and renewed my certification and registration …show more content…
While in the program, I hope to shadow in different management environments like hospitals, doctors’ office, or a director of operations. I want to achieve this degree through Alvernias’ Master program. It is an additional one year 30-credit Master of Business Administration degree program offered if you are enrolled in the bachelor program (Alvernia). Certification in Healthcare Administration is not necessary, but brands you as a more qualified candidate to an employer. The American Association of Healthcare Administration Management (AAHAM) is a national society that professionals can join and receive certification. This membership will help enhance networks with peers, give career support, professionalism and provide revenue cycle knowledge (AAHAM). I will join online by submitting an application and paying a $199 fee. After finding a position where I’m able to excel and grow professionally, I want to prepare to take my certification of AAHAM Certified Revenue Cycle Professional. The requirements for this certification is two years of experience in the field and at minimum an associate degree (AAHAM). I still want to keep current with my radiologic technologist requirements, so I must complete the Continue Qualifications Requirements (CQF) every 10 years (ARRT). “CQR helps identify gaps in knowledge and skills that might cause you to fall behind

As healthcare professionals, those in the field of radiology work to support sick and injured patients on the road toward diagnosis and recovery. Though many may see radiographers as employees serving a purpose to aid those with a disabling injury, many fail to acknowledge the possibility of radiographers being prone to injury themselves. There are many factors that contribute to the risk of work related injuries, which include heavy physical work, lifting and forceful movements, bending and twisting, sustained poor postures, and repetitive or frequent movement patterns. As a radiographer, job requirements entail repetitive movements involving lifting and positioning patients, some of which fail to cooperate or are unable to follow verbal direction. Also, some patients who are unable to assist in moving and position create added stress to multiple joints and muscles for the technologist. When patients are maneuvered incorrectly, radiographers are prone to physical stress and musculoskeletal disorders in many different areas of the body. Additionally, the use of heavy lead aprons and the image archiving systems that are used to collect
I am a Health Services Administration major. It has been a long time goal of mine to enter the healthcare field, but more so in the administrative field of healthcare. The medical field is a career path that brings about many options and opportunities of great value. The noble idea of being a doctor tends to cloud the diligent studying and precise training that is actually required for this career. I have wanted to become a doctor since a very young age, and now that the opportunity is here for the taking, I have fully researched what it takes to succeed in this profession and various specialties of the practice. The road to a medical degree is one filled with thousands of notes, years of schooling, and many stressful nights, but the reward is one incomparable to any other. Saving people’s lives on a day-to-day basis has been one of my dreams for as long as I can remember, so the rigorous curriculum

There are hundreds of career paths and options, which can be overwhelming and exciting. I have looked into many possibilities and wanted to talk to a speech pathologist about their career and responsibilities. Speech pathologists, also known as speech-language pathologists or speech therapists, help individuals with a multitude of disorders, associated with swallowing, speech, and language. They can work in schools, hospitals, specialty clinics, or through private practice. I chose to interview Sherri Anderson, a speech pathologist for Rock Creek Elementary School in the Beaverton School District in Oregon. Ms. Anderson originally got a degree in English, and worked for a bookstore for a decade before going back to school to become a speech
I am an outsider. For the first 15 years of my life, I was oblivious to the medical conversations my sister and father always had. Then, sophomore year came around and after only a semester of biology, I became to understand some of the basic concepts of their conversations. Regardless of intellectual conversations, a medical career has always been my top priority, and MASH is an amazing opportunity to put me one step closer to pursuing my career as an Interventional Radiologist. The idea of applying scientific knowledge to help treat patients has always intrigued me. That is why over the course of my life, I have participated in extracurricular activities that help benefit my community and the people within it. By being a part of MASH, it
Having college experience really allowed me to explore different careers including social work and nursing, but radiology technology really peaked my interest. Having past ankle surgery, I realized being a radiographer can allow me to help others, which is the main goal I am wanting
In my near future, I would like to become a radiologist. A radiologist is someone who studies and uses X-rays or other high energy radiation. Doctors specializing in radiology will use these machines quite often. These physicians are people who interpret digital images or x-rays obtained through a variety of different cameras. The radiologist uses this information to determine the correct diagnosis and then consults with the physician to develop a course of treatment for the patient. After you take an MRI, CT, ultrasound, or x-rays, you will have to put those thoughts into a legible, written form that other healthcare professionals can understand and act upon rationally. This job is quite enjoyable if you have adequate time.

Cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) is a specialized type of x-ray examination used to create 3-dimensional images of the head and neck structure. After attending a lecture on this technology I was greatly interested to learn more. For this research paper I wanted to compare and contrast cone beam CT with other more traditional types of radiographic exam equipment.
After receiving my high school diploma, I will continue my education at the University of Cincinnati in the fall of 2017. I will be studying healthcare administration because I know I am interested in business because of my time in DECA, and I have always had an affinity for nursing. I believe I will excel in this position because I am a two time state qualifier and national qualifier for DECA, and I have also taken many health class courses to prepare myself. I chose the University of Cincinnati because it it is an urban school and has a great business program. The University of Cincinnati is also a well respected school, which will increase employers’ interest in my job application.
