An xray technician is in the medical field in which you can work at hospitals, doctor offices, medical and diagnostic laboratories, diagnostic imaging centers and outpatient care centers. The most common name for xray technicians are none as radiologic technicians. As an xray technician you can also have specialties in fluoroscopy, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, and mammography.

Working as a radiology technician would allow me to fulfill my passion for helping others and making an impact while working in a career that I know I would love. I have been fortunate enough to work alongside many radiology technicians for over 4 years and have come to realize the vital role they play in Healthcare. The fast-paced work environment and major responsibility is something that I am intrigued by. I find radiologic imaging such a fascinating technology and am extremely passionate to make a career out of it.

Over the past six years, I have made some decisions in my life; as to why I believe now is the right time to attend college and finish with a degree.

Owing to the increasing need of healthcare specialists, the radiology technician field is growing by leaps and bounds. Education and training in this field is both crucial and mandatory because of the fact that technology is in flux. Radiology technician schools train students in order to prepare them to step into the world of radiology by acquainting them with the knowledge required to use the machines in their line of work. Some of the machines that they will be required to operate through the course of their study are CT scanners, MRIs and X-ray machines. The educational requirements are you have to have a certification, associate’s degree or a bachelor's degree in radiology. The license is required in most states. You also have to have a post secondary training. The job responsibilities are that you have to be capable of working with others, following directions, mechanical abilities, and manual dexterity. The experience is any training and work experience obtained in the armed services; which is on-the-job training. The skills you need are to help, and teach others, also technical and scientific.

However, if you are willing to take that option and you are wanting to become a Radiation Technologists, you must be willing to take a hold on the responsibilities and duties. These responsibilities and duties may be challenging, but can be extremely rewarding in the long run. You must be very patient while reading the details of an image. In order to protect your patient from radiation there must be a radiation shield over them. But, before you can get started on any x-rays, there are questions about their medical history that need to be asked first. Organizing and neatness can be a major key in keeping up with medical records of patients. Although you think your job may be just x-rays and the like, you still have a physician present in the room at all times who will be giving you instructions on where to x-ray the patient.

I am pursuing a career as a radiologist technician due to a number of reasons. It first started with my fascination of the complexity of the human body. In high school I had no idea I wanted to go into the medical field until I took an anatomy and physiology class, and this subject fascinated me. Solving problems and seeing results is something I want out of a career. I am looking forward to the life-long learning that is involved with a job in the healthcare field. As such, I am interested in a specialization in radiology so I can continue my education and provide a higher level of care to ill patients.
