On the issues, Ted Cruz holds many unique positions, often stirring controversy amongst Democrats and fellow Republicans alike. Ted Cruz identifies strongly with the Tea Party Movement, leaning to the far right on many social, domestic and international issues. He particularly emphasizes his bold stances on issues like fighting ISIS,
Deanna Hunter Has abortion become a modern life casualty? There may be many "yes" and equal number of "no", voicing their opinion over this, thus strengthening the arguments revolving around this issue. The fact of the matter is that most of the statistics concerning abortion do not depict a
While Planned Parenthood offers cancer screening, pregnancy testing, sexually transmitted infection testing, contraception, and more, the safe and legal abortion service they provide is typically the highlight of conversation (Sexual Health Topics - Planned Parenthood). It is interesting to compare the Democratic candidates to the Republican candidates on this subject. Mr. Sanders and Mrs. Clinton wish to fight to continue Planned Parenthood’s government funding. In fact, Mr. Sanders hopes to find a way to expand the funding (Fighting For Women’s Rights). On the other hand, Mr. Trump, and Mr. Cruz wish to end the Planned Parenthood funding. Donald Trump has expressed some mixed thoughts regarding the funding and abortion. Mr. Trump believes that Planned Parenthood has done “very good work for millions of women," (Krieg). However, Mr. Trump has also said, “But Planned Parenthood should absolutely be defunded. I mean if you look at what’s going on with that, it’s terrible” (Donald Trump: “Planned Parenthood Should Absolutely Be De-Funded”). Quite frankly, I think Mr. Trump is confused. It is clear that he wishes to defund Planned Parenthood due to the abortion service provided even though he recognized the majority of work Planned Parenthood does for millions of women (Krieg). Jill Stein has not publicly commented on Planned Parenthood’s government funding; however, she did comment on the organization’s decision to endorse Mrs. Clinton (Sheer). Planned Parenthood has personally influenced my life. I work in the education branch of Planned Parenthood as a high school sexual health peer educator. In my opinion, the work Planned Parenthood does deserves and requires government funding which is why I would vote for the Democrat candidates when considering this
Ted Cruz for President In March of 2015 Ted Cruz announced his candidacy. Since then, his names has graced numerous news organizations. Cruz speaks on behalf of passionate Republicans desperate for change. Currently, he holds the fourth highest polling percentage amongst the Republican candidates. Cruz can win because of his high voter demographic in large groups, campaign strategies, and his views on issues. Although, his campaign needs to improve in order to beat Trump, Carson, Rubio, and eventually the Democratic candidate.
Rafael Edward Cruz or more commonly known as Ted Cruz was born in Calgary, Canada in 1970. His mother was born in Delaware to a working class family she was the first of her family to go to college. She received a degree in mathematics from Rice University and then became a computer programmer.
Currently, polls show that in a Clinton vs. Cruz election, Hillary would win by almost 10 percentage points. A poll from Politico shows that less than 10% of Republicans think Cruz would be able to carry their state against Hillary. Despite Hillary’s recent troubles, including the scandal involving her emails, it appears she has not been too affected by them. Her favorability ratings have dropped a bit, but she still has a strong advantage over candidates like Cruz. Cruz’s biggest challenge in a general election would be convincing voters he is not as extreme as he is. There has been quite a bit of progression in America recently, with the legalization of gay marriage and the growing movement to decriminalize marijuana. Those are things that a majority of Americans are okay with, and Ted Cruz is not. Therefore, he will meet a lot of resistance if he campaigns against those things, and will likely push a lot of potential voters away. The Republican Party needs a moderate candidate, and Ted Cruz at this point in time is not a moderate
Ted Cruz will use his knowledge of the U.S. Constitution to address domestic issues related to education and healthcare. Ted Cruz will work to
Cruz is a natural born citizen, because his Mother is a natural born citizen. Even if his mother was not a U.S. Naturally born citizen, he should still be legal as long as she had citizenship. Some say that children that are born north of the United States-Mexico border are considered natural born citizens. yet a child born south of the border, even by a few miles, by legal U.S. Citizens is considered to be not a natural born citizen. That is not logical reasoning. I do understand why some would think that people's allegiance lays in their birthplace, but for Cruz to renounce his Canadian residency shows me that he's an American. The people who argue against Cruz's nationality are the same who argued against President Obama’s birthplace. Even if President Obama was born in Africa he still is considered a natural born citizen because of his mother's
The reason I have decided to touch on such a controversial topic, is because it has been pertinent since the many debates between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. I felt it was only right to apprise you on the topic. There has been a copious amounts of misconceptions and Hillary has been judged and criticized for voting against a ban on late-term and partial-birth abortions. As most people are educated about Roe v. Wade. It clearly states, the mother’s health are to be taken into account. I believe Donald Trump made the statement, “you can take the baby and rip the baby out of the womb in the ninth month on the final day” (Donald Trump, 2016). Late term abortions for healthy mothers and their unborn children does not happen. “To put it in
A priest in Texas is currently being investigated by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Amarillo after he posted a video online showing him placing an aborted fetus on the altar in his call against abortion.
People of all walks of life are too familiar with rape. Rape is any penetration of the vagina or anus with any body part or object, or oral penetration by another person’s sex organ, where the victim does not give consent (Frequently). The sensitive topic is a global issue that no type of individual can avoid. A person, ranging from twelve and older, gets sexually assaulted every 107 seconds. This is equivalent to 293,066 people per year. Between the years 1995 and 2010, in America, 91% of rape victims were female (How). What do women do if they suddenly become pregnant due to such an event? Some may not be able to afford raising a child, others may not want one. Others may not be ready to take on the responsibility. An abortion is the premature
I’m With Her Donald Trump is the 2016 Republican nominee and Hillary Clinton is the 2016 Democratic nominee for the United States this year. Hillary has been running for president for the past quarter century. Donald has always said how he wanted to run for president but he only ran once back in 2000. Hillary and Donald are running head to head on the battle for the next United States president.
It is and always should be a woman’s right what she wants to do with her body. The article I chose was originally about the protests at University of Missouri but it called into question President Obama’s view on abortion, which I agree with. I am pro-choice when it comes to abortion because there is no 100% effective contraception, sex should not bear the responsibility of a pregnancy, and because rape if often exempt but an unplanned pregnancy isn’t.
The article I read about Ted Cruz was particularly worrisome. I am a firm believer that who ever decides to run for president should be an american first and then be a religious person in their day to day life. I find it terrifying that some of Ted Cruz supporters are saying these cruel and horrendous things and he seems it be going right along with it. I have to admit that Ted Cruz would make a much better candidate than Donald Trump however, based on what I just read I am slowly beginning to doubt that. I will never understand what drives certain individuals to want to control individual who are just a bit different from the majority. I believe that regardless of what any one is and especially if they are a presidential candidate, should be a humanitarian and advocate fairness for all and go against those who want to hurt others.
When talking to anyone you will find people spilt about planned parenthood many people have a passionate option about the subject many people hate the organization because that offer abortions. The main complaint I hear about planned parenthood is that they offer abortion many people are very passionate about that
