In 12 minutes, the boat sank with 350 soldiers on board. They were in the middle of the ocean, in the middle of nowhere. Half of the people were on rafts. The others were trying to hold onto a net nearby. By day 2, people were already having hallucinations. People were thinking they saw girls in grass skirts and other stuff. Some people wanted to die. The water was shark infested.
“Hey guys! This is the last communication you shall receive from me. I now walk out to live amongst the wild. Take care, it was great knowing you” (Qtd. In Krakauer 69). After graduating from Emory University, Christopher McCandless abandoned everything, gave his entire savings account to charity, and then hitchhiked to Alaska to live in the wild. In the novel, Into the Wild, Was McCandless justified in shunning society? McCandless was justified in shunning society because he simply wanted to find himself and be independent without any distractions from his friends or family.

The last time I saw Charlie outside prison walls we were on the run. Charlie was on the run, not I, I just went along for the ride because he was my husband. Charlie was on parole, but he loved to drink his booze. In our state it's a violation to drink while on parole.
I have two predictions so far about the book I am reading. I predict that Roland and Eddie will have to go back to Eddie’s world to get supplies. “Eddie, he tries to say, but his voice is all gone. His throat hurts, hurts so bad. We should have brought some astin too, he thinks, and then tries to laugh: all the drugs for him none for Eddie.” (King 186). At the beginning of the book, some giant lobster-like animals took two of Roland’s fingers and one of his toes. Not only was he weak from traveling, he now is suffering from blood loss and infection. Later in the book when Roland takes Eddie back into his world, Eddie brings some aspirin with to try and help Roland. The aspirin helps, but they are almost out of it. Going back into Eddie’s world
The Perilous Testimony Men and women around the world choose to commit crimes, rob each other, cheat each other, and kill each other more and more everyday. What can Christians do to combat the oncoming darkness? In the book “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer”, written by Mark Twain, the main protagonist is faced with this very dilemma. While attending school one day, Tom Sawyer was approached by Huckleberry Finn, who at the time owned a dead cat which he told Tom could ward off warts. However, it could only fend off warts if they departed from their homes to the graveyard at midnight.
“For you, a thousand times over” is probably the most famous quote in the book The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini. It is the best book I have ever read and I could not ever read it again. I don’t think this book is the best in terms of grammar, or writing style, or any other technical criteria to consider it as the “best” book. On the cover of the book given to me there was a review from The New York times where it said “Powerful… Haunting.” and it is the most accurate way to describe how I felt about it. It was the first book I read that after the last word on the book, I had to take a moment because of the overwhelming emotions I felt.
Like the other applicants, I’m a junior in high school. I’ve moved around a couple times, from New York to Michigan to Minnesota back to Michigan and finally here, Virginia. Out of everywhere I’ve lived, NOVA is definitely the best. This is a terrific area, all the different cultures and peoples- the overall opportunity. Anyone can truly be anything here. It’s inspiring. Applying to this program is a big leap for me. The work load may be intense, but I can handle it. I’m a well-adjusted fella. Moving tends to have that effect on people if you ask me.

A steam oh hot lava came spewing out of a sea cliff and explodes when it hit the water, it might happen again, but what if this time innocent people get in the way and get hurt or worse?”Tour boat captains whose vessels cruise along the shoreline are constantly watching the cliffs and lava to keep their passengers safe”(Jones)”Lava benches are ledges of land formed from cooling lava that sit above the level of the original shoreline. They can collapse at any time without warning.”(Jones) Because of this everyone has to be alert when passing the sea cliff so they will know when something bad will happen.
Throughout my life, I have always been a bleeding heart for animals. My dad would take me to the animal shelter and have to drag me out because I just couldn’t leave without saving all of them. The first time he took me fishing was a traumatic experience. I didn’t realize that the purpose of fishing was to kill and eat the fish; so when I reeled in my first fish and it died, I cried for an hour. My love for animals has still carried on in to my adult life and now I am learning about more animal cruelties in the world. The company that I work for are strong advocates for animal rights and are actively fighting animal testing. As a retail company, we have the opportunity to reach thousands of people everyday to spread messages and educate. We are always running ethical campaigns that fight for preservation and conservation of our Earth’s resources, ban various animal cruelties, and promote love and acceptance throughout the world.
A girl, her dad and a little boy got lost at sea, they were going on a boat trip and there was an explosion.
“Your assignment is to write a persuasive essay and present it to the class in a week. You will be graded based on how convincing it is. Today we will be choosing topics,” announced Mr. Bowerbank, my 7th grade English teacher and ruler of classroom 110. My class simultaneously groaned at the prospect of work. I simply lifted my head with intrigue as it was already May and about time we had our first essay. He then proceeded to give examples of topics we could choose and gave us some time to think before we had to tell him our topic. My classmates were already rushing to tell the teacher their idea lest someone else steal it. That meant the usual abortion, death penalty, or drug use topics were out. I really couldn't think of anything and the teacher was slowly making his way through the remaining students like an executioner beheading criminals in a line. I have always thought that he would make a marvelous supervillain if he had a curly mustache, a tophat, and a cape. Eventually my name was called. I slowly dragged myself over to his desk. Even sitting down, he still seemed to tower over me. “What is your topic Cindy?” As usual in such desperate times, my mind turned to food. “Waffles are better than pancakes.” I figured that a waffle was just a differently shaped pancake with a nicer texture. “Hmm. Excellent topic. I look forward to your essay!” I survived to live yet another day.
Why spend money that is really needed for other things? Why live uncomfortably? Why be trapped in this hole called a home that belongs to another person? Why not live free and peacefully? When a person rents he or she usually throws away money that could be used to purchase something that belongs to them. Money is not easy to come by so why pay out hundreds toward something that is not benefit to the person paying it out. There is no good explanation for making a decision like this. The best option in a situation like this is to buy a house. Buying a house is a better option than renting an apartment.
