The Oakland Raiders have been the laughing stock of the NFL for over a decade but I think now, there is a time for change. Not having mustered a single winning season since going to the Super Bowl in 2002, the Raiders sit on a 2-2 record and are alive in the playoff race for the first time in a longtime. In recent years lack of depth in the X’s and O’s department has caused the Raiders to not fully maximize their player’s full potential. Head coach Jack Del Rio is a defensive minded whiz, along with defensive coordinator Ken Norton Jr. Bill Musgrave is the offensive mastermind. Del Rio brings poise to a young team while Norton Jr ignites the team. The offense is a loose cannon, ready to explode any at any time for a huge play. Norton runs a defensive which forces the lanky, tall corners man on man while the front seven defenders pressure the quarterback. Bill Musgrave runs a very balanced offensive with a bell cow running back and a gun slinging quarterback. I personally see a huge improvement from the last years first three games to this year first three games. The Raiders are the race and are hopeful contender. …show more content…
The offense is highlighted with Derek Carr the quarterback and the rookie wide receiver Amari Cooper. The defense is a young crew mixed with a few seasoned vets. Second year player Khalil Mack is a force to be reckoned with on the defensive line while Charles Woodson mans the skies as a ball hawk at safety. In the past the Oakland Raiders lacked talent and depth to compete with other NFL teams. Reggie McKenzie the team’s general manager has brought in players such as Michael Crabtree, Aldon Smith and Nate Allen. They offense was engineered after Carr and the defense is aligned to Mack’s strengths and Norton’s physical mentality. These two players are the face of the Oakland Raiders franchise. The Raiders young team has limitless potential if they do the right things they have to do to
Now Garrett, like Turner and Zampese had to work with, has the tools in place for the offense to be a juggernaut. Starting with the receivers, Garrett has a beast in Dez Bryant (6-2, 225 lbs.) able to dominate with the same prowess Irvin took to the gridiron, and Terrance Williams (6-2, 208 lbs.) opposite of Bryant with some similarities as Harper (can get up and get the ball). Notice the comparison in size that Irvin and Harper had? Insert Brice Butler (6-3, 215 lbs.) and the Cowboys have the ideal receivers wanted in the system – prototypical sized route runners able to get downfield.
The 2014 Hannah-Pamplico Raiders although, they battled much adversity, came out to be one of the greatest teams to wear a Raider uniform. From winning a great season opener, and then going on a horrific losing streak. Also dealing with the death of a teammate’s brother, battled threw to win the region championship. The 2014 Raiders defined what it meant to become a team and that if you keep your faith high then you can achieve any goal.
New England has traded away almost half of their picks in the upcoming draft, forcing them to have to deal with the fact of minimal rookies that can better their team for the future. Even, though inexperienced, young rookies have made the pro bowl and made other great accomplishments. This proves how important it is too keep fresh talent coming in. Anyone can see the Browns have plenty of fresh talent coming in. They have not traded away a single pick plus have more picks total than every other team. They total seven picks in the top 108 and twelve total. This shows they are well prepared to build there team for years to come. Their simple, yet strategic way of building their team up is a sure way to have a powerhouse in a few short
There is a cycle. Let’s say there is a team called the Landrum Lions. The Lions pick a good quarterback, and a good defensive line, and maybe a superstar player. That’s good. They are a high ranking team. They are a high ranking team, until someone good gets traded, or their superstar player is retired, then the team goes bad.
Al Davis has been known to put other coaches and players into terrible locker conditions, to intimate them. He felt like it was the Oakland Raiders against the NFL, he would win at all costs. many people do not remember who Al Davis was or all the great things he has done for the sport or the Oakland Raiders franchise. He has racked up many accomplishments during his time in the NFL and AFL but are overshadowed by his intimating tactics, his last few draft picks, and his self proclaimed war on the NFL. Wayne Valley the original owner of the Oakland Raiders first offer to Al Davis, for the head coach position, was declined.
No other team has been more impressive than the Kansas City Chiefs. They have started this season hot and continue to dominate. Unlike many teams in the NFL, the Chiefs are 5-0. Several factors help make this team streak seem undefeatable. Let look at some of the stat lines that are making this possible.
The Colts quarterback is Andrew Luck and he has shown that he could be a good quarterback but last year he got hurt during the middle of the year. He missed nine games
After all, the Broncos are coached by former Ravens Offensive Coordinator Gary Kubiak and have a pair of Ravens from last season (tight end Owen Daniels and safety Darian Stewart).
Along with that strength though, comes a weakness. The history of the Cowboys is a history of excellence and winning which is hard to hold and be consistent with in the NFL. Winning three Super Bowl titles in four years is a hard mark to reach but ever since that accomplishment the Cowboys have been nowhere near replicating that achievement. The fan base was created through the great seasons of football that the Cowboys have
The cleveland browns have went through a lot of quarterbacks and coaches in the past 16 years. Ever since the browns came back in 1999 they have not made it to the playoffs. They have one of the best defenses in the whole NFL
"I tell you, looking at it from last year, it’s arguably the best d-line, defensive front. It’s arguably one of the best defenses that I’ve ever seen," head coach Dana Holgorsen said. "One of the linebackers, NFL guy. Another one of the linebackers has a ton of starts but where the real, real good dudes are, the d-line. Not only were they, just like with the one guy the Harris kid obviously, he’s top-10 pick, but they have some young d-tackles who are going to be big time guys. They’re depth was really good.
During their decade run as the best division in football, the AFC North’s success has been predicated on tough-nose defense and consistent quarterback play. Omitting the Browns, AFC North teams all have “franchise” quarterbacks entering 2017 in Ben Roethlisberger (15th season), Joe Flacco (10th season) and Andy Dalton (7th season).
One of the team’s biggest strengths is their powerhouse offense. But the man under center is what makes that powerhouse offense run. That man is Aaron Rodgers. Aaron Rodgers is one of the best quarterbacks in the league if not the best. His statistics are unbelievable. He has the highest quarterback rating in NFL history at 103.8, while the second closest is 98.9. He has thrown 300 touchdowns to only 74 interceptions. That being a 4:1 touchdown to interception ratio, also the best in NFL history. One of his most impressive streaks was his success at home. In 2015, he threw an interception at home. The last one he threw at home before that was in 2012. He went three years without throwing an interception at home. Truly a remarkable feat. In 2011, Aaron had one of the best seasons
The offense was flat out pathetic to watch this whole season, and I was so disgusted each game in watching how boring they were, as well as how they couldn’t flat out score points at all. They pretty much relied on kicker Dan Bailey to kick a bunch of FG’s each game. Somehow someway the organization needs to find more skill players to help this offense. I know Romo, and Bryant missing most of season is part of the reason but still the offense shouldn’t have been this pathetic like they’ve
Raiders fans are some of the best in all of sports. They will travel to games all over the country to watch their team play, and they sell out games even when the team is bad. The Raiders organization has already once devastated fans, by moving to Los Angeles right when they were getting good in the 1980s. They went on to win one championship in their decade in LA. When they returned to Oakland the Raiders were never the same, only going to one more Super Bowl before their playoff drought started. For 14 seasons, the fans have suffered, yet they still have been going to games faithfully. This past season was the first season they made the playoffs in those 14 years, and it ended in heartbreak. With all these rumors about moving away from Oakland, us fans couldn’t even fully enjoy the spectacular season the team had, in fear that the team that finally is good may be leaving once again. Fans have been feeling cheated by the Raiders for making us suffer for so long only to ‘Return To Greatness’ and leave. Kuvin Hayer, a lifelong fan, expresses the emotions many fans are feeling, "Last time we got good, our hearts were ripped out and the team moved to LA. It seems like it 's happening all over again. We are an elite
