The minimum wage has been around since the Great Depression in 1938 under the presidency of Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Initially, the government set the minimum wage at $0.25 per hour to now $7.25 an hour, although some states decide to have a lower rate than the national rate or have no minimum at all. The heated debate over raising the national rate of the minimum wage has been on everybody’s lips since there was the question of whether to alter the rate or not. I support the raising of minimum wage because of the fact that raising the minimum wage would improve the income of people in poverty and economy of America. For the same reason, raising the minimum wage would lift the incomes of about 18 million hard-working people.

The impact of raising the minimum wage would be good but i disagree the reason why is if the minimum wage go up businesses will have less workers and the prices will go up on everything like gas , clothes , shoes , food , rent etc. and for people it will affect them because it won’t be a lot of jobs and there and it would not be ok cause more people will be homeless and not have the money to take care of themselves or their families.They created minimum wage in 1938 it was a law to pay legally to works with a certain jobs.

I'm tackling the topic of increasing the minimum wage of employee. Most people in america live on minimum wage and some people even work full time. the lower the income the higher support from the government you will get. In my opinion, i don't think we should increase our minimum wages because it will effect small business, the unemployment rates will increase, and increase of price control.

I agree with you, I think that if we are going to raise the minimum wage for workers education we also need to make a raise for those that have an education. I see where you are coming from, it wouln't be fair if a person without education was making $15 an hour and a person with a degree would be making the same. However, I understand why we would need to raise the minimum wage for those without an education because they have the jobs that no one wants. I don't necessary think it's their fault that they can't find better jobs because some of them couldn't afford an education. I see both side to this situation.

There is an argument as to whether the government should be involved in controlling the minimum wage. If it costs more to pay low-skill employees, than employers could replace 2-3 employees with 1 skilled worker who can multitask and perform the job at hand well. Therefore not only does raising minimum wage eliminate jobs from people but it does not help reduce poverty
