Internationally, the success of RPA suffered significantly as a result of pressures due to the cancellation of the General Educational Diploma which required young people to pass a series of high school tests in reading, writing, social studies, science and maths, the equivalent to GCSES. However the choices which remain available to young people, under RPA include full time education; work-based learning such as an apprenticeships; or full-time work or volunteering alongside part-time training that leads to an accredited qualification.
