Ralph Johnson Bunche was born on August 7, 1903 and died on December 9, 1971. He was an American political scientist, educator, and diplomat who received the 1950 Nobel Peace Prize for his late 1940s mediation in Israel. He was the first African American to be awarded and honored in the history of the Nobel Peace Prize. He was also Involved in the formation and administration of the United Nations. With all of his hard work he was in 1963, he was awarded the Medal of Freedom by President John F. Kennedy.
