So for this individual who causes bad his conscience is clean, as it believes that you are not doing any evil act or causing pain to others. Being a research validated theory justified by Ralph White believe that if it is true that every human being can be irrational and immoral, but that can happen does not mean that it can be accepted in our society, like a law that occur in our lives, as a normal occurrence. They are able to get power because society gives more recognition to negativity. Bullying is just one way that people get others attention (“Bullying Statistics” 1-2). Kids who bully tend to use priority and strength. They also try to get their hands on someone else’s personal or embarrassing information or use their own popularity to hurt others (“Bullying Definition” 1). Having this imbalance of power causes many people to think highly of themselves.
Bullies get away with bullying because people want to be standing by. Elie Wiesel once said “The opposite of love is not hate its indifference”. People let other people take charge.
Some researchers believe the pressure to gain peer acceptance and status may be related to increased teasing and bullying” (Espelage 3). This excerpt shows how much someone in early adolescence values the importance of their perception of themselves in society so they can fit in with others around them. People care more about how others see them than how they see themselves, as shown by their social status. Another example from this source that shows that an individual generally cares more about their perception of themselves in society than their mental health can be seen when the author discusses the research conducted with elementary school children in other countries. “Bullying can best be understood from a social interactional perspective.
By giving these victims the power to bully others, gives them the sense of relief getting revenge on those who tormented them (Child Refuge, 2011). Even though there are several reasons why teens turn to cyberbullying, there are also stereotypes that follow. In fact, researched discovered that girls are more likely to become victims while males tend to be the bullies and when you compare Caucasians to African Americans, African Americans are more likely to become the cyber bully (Sbarbaro and Smith, 2011). Regardless of who is doing the bullying online or why, at the end of the day it all
In the article, "The Making of a Bully", written by Caurie Putnam explains how people who do bully others face negative impacts. Bullies are negatively impacted by a risk of alcohol or drug abuse, abuse towards others and incarceration. Bullies are often considered isolated in which increases such behavior. For most people, they believe that bullies are just bullies but bullies are victims before they bully others. Something they have experienced or been bullied themselves triggers them to bully others to not be a victim anymore.
Kids who bully another person feel that they accomplished something. For example "They think that it makes them popular, or that bullying may be a way to fit in. Bullying doesn't make someone popular or cool, it just makes them mean. People who bully are often scared about something about themselves, so they try to scare others to hide their feelings or pick on others so they won't get picked on first". Affecting a person mentally, physically, and emotionally is wrong and it will bring a teenager down inside. Mentally bullying is a form of abuse which can be punishable by law and it will cause some young teens to commit suicide. Physical bullying is a assault which it's also against the law and it will cause bodily harm and serious injuries towards a child. Emotional bullying will often effect both victim and bully, and as the victim they will go through emotions of anger, and confusion. The bully can be punished for taunting, and harassing the victim. However a lot of groups of teens feel that bullying is wrong and should be stopped
I believe the quote “a man who has no conscience, no goodness, does not suffer” (Hosseini 315) means that if somebody does not feel guilty after doing something they know they should not have, have no goodness in them. Meaning that he/she is not kind, they are known for mostly only caring about themselves and think whatever they do is okay and do not deserve a consequence for their actions. I also think that when Rahim Khan says “a man who has no conscience…”(Hosseini 315) means that he/she could care less about what happened and just want to move on with life, which is not okay especially if it involves something terrible. A person who shows to have no conscience nor goodness is somebody with no morals and do not get reminded of their past,
The behavior is repeated, or has the potential to be repeated, over time. Both kids who are bullied and who bully others may have serious, lasting problems. Finding satisfaction from causing harm to others is a common behavior for those who bully other students. When I was back in high school in Vietnam, there were a lot of fighting after school and the reason was the one who tried to fight others, just tried to satisfy himself by beating up other students. Making themselves look tough and in charge in front of their friends is another cause of bullying.
If a bully felt the needed more attention, they could always find someone to use for this. With each successful act, they learned to merge this anti-social behavior with social expectations. After all, they were learning this in a school. It was a pass/fail self-study, where remaining as a bully depended on passing the class. One of these bullies, a boy who was also named John followed me all the way into high school. He was a master bully.
The bullies could encourage others to be mean like them because it is “cool.” Many cyber bullies enjoy bullying people because it is funny or entertaining for them. This is why it happens so much including that it is the easiest way possible to bully someone online. Another reason why it spreads around is because the bullying could happen on any social media site or any websites, therefore it can be easily accessed and shared to many people. Once something is posted online, it will always be stored somewhere and it can never be permanently deleted.
The everyday acts of bullying in schools is often the result of peer pressure. Peer pressure is exerted when an individual feels they must join in the behaviors of a particular social group in order to fit in. The most common types of bullying in middle and high schools include the sending of meanly worded notes and name calling. On the more extreme side of the spectrum people might casually ruin another person's relationship with gossip, lies and rumors. Many people give into peer pressure in order to be liked or to fit in. Even the sweetest and kindest kids will give into peer pressure as a form of self preservation. Those people who are able to muster the courage to go against the grain and not give in, will most certainly be happier for it in the long run. Instead of complying and buckling under peer pressure, they are free to be
Bullying is a result of 2 types of social practices. First, a person may choose to bully someone in attempt to lower the victim's self confidence therefore in theory raising the bully’s. Secondly, a person may choose to bully in attempt to gain approval from their peers. Levenson in her article “What Isn't Known About Suicides” states “Cyberbullying is a classic anti-social behavior”. Therefore “bullying” is simply a person trying to gain self confidence or social acceptance through anti-social behavior. One can cause bullying by being a bully themselves and teaching antisocial behaviors as the norm and the way to handle social situations. One may also choose to bully people different from them. This is danced around in the article “Monstrous
Another possibility is implied that a person may resort to bullying due to issues in their own home which are unhealthy. Maybe a lack of love, kindness, or attention causes a person to lash out at others as an outlet for their pain. A need for attention could be a contributor to this type of negative behavior. Perhaps a person acts out via bullying because it gets them noticed as opposed to being civil or polite. A person may act out due to failure towards academic achievement or some other goal that the bully may find value in. [Why] A bully may act as such when in certain situations where value is not placed on how people treat one another. When people fail to address a bully’s behavior as inappropriate, this manner continues and often progresses negatively over time. When someone attempts to imagine how a bully views their actions, one may wonder if the bully feels guilt or remorse over their actions. Leon Festinger, a social psychologist, suggested a theory. This theory is called cognitive dissonance. [Robertson] This theory suggests that humans are very inclined to be consistent in all areas of our life. Therefore, when a bully begins
Also people judge them without knowing what is going on. Everything that bullies do is a cause of their mental issues. Authors, Dorothy Espelage and Melissa K.
