On the night of October 1, 2017, a gunman opened fire on a large crowd of concertgoers at the Route 91 Harvest music festival on the Las Vegas Strip, killing 58 people and injuring 489. Stephen Paddock a 64 year old man was the shooter. He had multiple guns which were fully automatic rifles. He had a room in Mandalay Bay hotel and broke the window from his room to shoot the 200 plus people. 42 guns have been found in Stephen Paddock’s hotel room. The shooting in Las Vegas took the lives of 58 people and injured around 500 more. Stephen Paddock had unknown motives behind his killings but was found to have booked two different hotel rooms close to other music festivals months before the shooting. Before the shooting, Paddock had no criminal record. The only other preparations that they had found was that he acquired a collection of firearms a year before the shooting.

The topic of my thesis is on a problem that we have in our nation, active shooter incidents, the frequency of occurrence and how can we survive. Does anyone remember a time when we didn’t have to worry if our children were safe in their schools, or when we could go to a mall or movies without wondering if this was the day an active shooter was coming? A snapshot into active shooter incidents provided by the FBI states that there were 160 activate shooters incidents between 2003 and 2013, which averaged to about 11.4 incidents a year; In these 160 incidents there were 1,043 casualties where 486 were killed and 557 were wounded. Hood Soldier Readiness Processing Center in Ft.
