Music is all around you no matter where you go, you are surrounded by music. There are so many different genres of music such as rock, hip-hop, country, dubstep. With so many genres of music there is always something new or different in the music industry, good music will always be around and there will always be new sounds to keep you entertained.
With so many different types of music out there, there is most likely something for everybody to enjoy. Most of the music that I listen to is either rap, hip-hop, rock, or trap. Trap is a more recent style of music that sort of combines lyrics into a beat that hits hard and is fast paced. Trap became really popular about 3 years ago, and is still a very popular genre. Out of all the music I listen to, I have no favorite genre. What I listen to just depends on my mood, or what i’m doing. I usually find myself listening to rap, or hip-hop at first, and then I switch it up and start to listen to other types of music.
When I listen to rap, some of the artists that I listen to are Lil Uzi, Lil Yachty, Famous Dex, and Kodak Black. These are just a few of the rap artists I like and support. I’ve alway been drawn to Chicago rap artists, There is so much good music that comes out of Chicago. Rappers

There are many bands that i listen to, but my favorite band is Slipknot. Slipknot is a heavy metal band, another cool thing about Slipknot is that they are from Des Moines, Iowa. I don’t really know any other famous musician/artist or band from my home state other than Slipknot. This past summer I got to go to one of their concerts in Des Moines. The experience of being there watching them perform live was amazing, it was my first time ever going to a concert. The mosh pit was definitely my favorite part of the concert, it was really loud and everyone was pushing and shoving each other. I will never forget going to this concert, it was one of the best moments in my
Hip-hop is a cultured style that started in the 1970’s. Majority of different funk groups began playing disco music at that time it was popular. During this time funk music was technology driven more electronic sounds were being used on the drum machines. Funk was the new dance in the early 70’s. This particular style of singing in which was being used is called rapping, this begun in African American, Urban Areas, Jamaican American, Latino American and many others cities of the United States. The group of artist or singer say words with a rhythm that rhymes. Some hip-hop music lyrics are about violence and illegal drugs. Often time lyrics are about the life of urban people who stay in big cities. Other styles that hip-hop uses come from
The study of hip hop music has been cited well throughout its growth over time. The purpose of this paper is intended to discuss hip hop culture and address cultural stereotypes associated with rap and hip-hop music, but also how its original lyrical intentions were forms of expression and art. It will begin by guiding the reader through how it originated, its influence with the African-Americans with its subculture and popularity in urban areas, its styles of evolving, the introduction of hip hop and rap to the public, the depiction it gave off with its criticisms from outsiders. An evaluation of hip hop artists songs by Sugar Hill and the Gang, Run DMC, Queen Latifah, and N.W.A. Including lyrics from the songs “Rappers Delight”, “King of Rock”, “Latifah’s Law”, and “Niggaz4Life”. In the conclusion it exposes how hip hop music is clearly for black Americans to express themselves freely and in fact did not cause violence.
With the release of the single “Accidental Racist,” by Brad Paisley and LL Cool J, the lines between rap music and country music officially blurred beyond recognition. Fans of country and rap music downloaded and purchased the single to see how two completely different genres would blend. Billboard statistics show that most fans appreciated Paisley and Smith’s efforts. Yet hardcore country and hip-hop fans insist that the genres are so different on the musical spectrum that no similarities could ever exist. However, current popular music is proving this to be untrue to a certain extent. While rap and country music have many similarities, they differ in terms of lyrical content, use of musical elements, and target audience.
My favorite type song is different from my least favorite type song by the beat, the way the words are organized, and the way that the people who sing it. In my favorite type of music, wich is usually rap, has big base drops and is very fast paced. In the slow paced music like poems it is obdviesly slow most of the time and there isn’t any base. I like to lay in my bed listening to rap music and it just soothes me for some reason I really don’t know why,but it just makes me feel better. Other slow paced music like poems being sung just makes me scream speed up,be louder, make some more noise, and vibrate these headphones.
There are only a few genres I choose not to listen to at all; otherwise, I can enjoy almost any form of music. I like country music because that is what my Dad always listened to. Although what was his country music was and what mine is today, is much different, my choice roots from my childhood exposure (Detrick, “Music History”). The two components I tend to enjoy most when listening to music are Tone and Rhythm (Detrick, “Music History”). I enjoy the way they make the stories being told, come together and make the song sound
The music you listen to comes in many forms of music. Like pop (aka popular music) hip-hop, rap, r&b, country. You might think they have nothing in common with each other but they do, they come in many ranges, many different sounds, and some of them have a rich history. From hip-hop to rap, house to deep house, and rock to alternative, music is changing and shifting into different directions that we thought could not be possible. Different
1) My favorite type of music is hip hop. I grew up listening to great hip hop artists such as Eminem, Drake, and Lil Wayne. I like this kind of music so much because I can express myself through listening to hip hop. All my family and friends listen to hip hop also.
Music has a big impact on my life, it is one of my favorite things in the world. My music library is so diverse, so it is hard for me to pick my favorite genre, from hip hop to rock to country. I find it all tasteful. If I had to say may favorite though it would be alternative rock, mostly because my favorite band is the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Their bass lines are amazing, and their music has so much heart and emotion in it, it’s something that everyone can jam along to. My least favorite would have to be screamo, an off shoot of metal. It is just too angry and you cannot understand anything the singer is saying, it isn’t something that is easy for me to appreciate. The Hobbit is my favorite book, the ore behind it keeps me interested and the way it is written is a completely different style than today’s writing. The writing style almost seems archaic but it has an elegance to it that is extremely difficult to achieve.
I would study the ways rap music affects African American as a whole. My hypothesis would be H1: African American portray themselves in hip-hop by misogyny, violence, and the negotiation of a white own space.H2: Black women are categorized as a sexual being or radical rather than a human being. I would study the lyrics of the music see how sex and the utter disrecpect for black woman are used in rappers music. I would also do a survey as to how African Americans view rappers and their music as well as their view towards the way woman are potrayed in the music. I would also categorized the songs I picked and place them in the category that Patrica Hill Collins has set forth. She catorgized black woman into several different categories and
The Rap Yearbook is a book that tells you the songs in the Hip-Hop genre which are the most important rap song from every year since 1979, discussed, debated, and deconstructed. Each song from each year brings a new element that has had a major impact to Hip-Hop. Some of these artists have become iconic in the genre, and people have respect for these people telling their stories. Some iconic artists are Tupac Shakur, Notorious B.I.G., and Rakim. There are also groups who have made their mark in rap such as Public Enemy, Wu-Tang Clan, and N.W.A. These men told stories, some were depressing, some were violent, but people listened to them. You can say whatever you want about them how you either love or hate them, but you can’t say they haven’t
In hip-hop and rap, one of the most important aspects of the songs is the words. It is all about the meaning and the kind of message or story the artist is trying to convey to the listener. One artist who has emerged in the last 27 years who exemplifies this part of hip-hop, is George Watsky, or as he is more commonly known as, Watsky. Watsky, a progressive hip-hop artist, draws upon the roots and stylings of early and 90s hip-hop, while also adding contemporary social commentary into his poetic lyrics as one of the more thoughtful progressive hip-hop artists of the 21st century.
Many people have different ideas on what their favorite type of music is. “Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and flight to everything” as said by the artist Plato. I couldn’t agree more with this statement. All depending on your appeal to music and your taste. For me I find pop music, rap and R&B most appealing.
The popular culture of music has changed dramatically over the course of sixty five years. Since this time, new genres of music have been introduced, existing genres have changed, and fixed stereotypes have been associated with certain genres of music. Music has become a major part of popular culture, and is portrayed almost everywhere in first world societies, including on television, radio, at shopping centers, sporting events and in every area of popular culture. Music has become a major part of popular culture, and continues to strive and develop into more and diverse areas of culture.
Good music doesn’t have an expiration date. Over the years, it has introduced new sounds and patterns into our everyday lives. From belting out your favorite song in the shower to quietly tapping your foot to the new song on the radio. The long and winding path torn from music’s origin has expanded through time to today’s modern music. Modern music consists of contemporary ideas and traditional tunes with a twist.
