In the 2nd quarter of 7th Grade Science the class we moved into a new IMYC unit of communication that related to the digestive system. Formative assessments included answering questions about our lab experiments, a quiz on the organization of life, and a small classification project. The summative assessments for the quarter were a presentation on a digestive system condition, lab reports, and a small test about the digestive system. In the 3rd quarter our unit will involve the science of forces, motion, and energy.
Anushka continues to do well in science. Her lab reports have improved in their detail and structure as she correctly consults the rubric to include the necessary information and provides full explanations. In our class discussions

As an example of this his lab exploration for our amylase lab left out many areas of the rubric like including a proper research question and identifying the variables of the experiment. During discussions he continues to participate in class by answering questions and sharing his ideas. Raphael’s digestive system condition presentation showed that with the proper effort applied he can be successful as he correctly followed the rubric and did well in presenting the information to the rest of the …show more content…
She has strong leadership skills and the ability to bring people together. For some assignments she forgets to include details like labels on graphs or doesn’t fully answer questions. This is an area she can look to improve on by taking a little extra time before submitting assignments to double check everything has been completed properly. On the digestive system quiz Aanvi missed questions specifically related to function of organs in the digestive system and reviewing a little more before quizzes would be beneficial.
Janiya continues to participate and often be the most active student in our classroom discussions. She often relates ideas from outside of class to our topic and shares her thoughts. In writing lab reports she has a tendency to forget certain areas of the rubric and needs to make a stronger effort to use the rubric as a checklist before submitting her report. Her digestive system condition presentation was informative and Janiya did an excellent job of presenting her
He was an extremely talented artist who had died an early age of thirty-seven. Together with Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci he formed the traditional trinity of great masters of the High Renaissance. He finished many of the painting other artists couldn’t. At the sight of Raphael’s skill, Pope Julius II dismissed his other artists as well as tore down their paintings, and had Raphael complete them.
The WebQuery, the 5E lesson plan, and the field trip guide, are examples of through which students engage in investigations that enhance learning and that helps them meet the NGSS. These artifacts also indicate my ability to develop lesson plans that promote the learning of science; that align content to the NGSS; that demonstrate the use of assessment to ensure that the students are meeting the standards; and that showcase the use of literature to support grouping strategies and lesson rationale
What are the three sections of the large intestine and what roles does each play in digestion or absorption?
As evolution evolved, so did the digestive systems of various organisms. From earth worms to the fetal pig, the digestive systems have changed due to genetic and environmental factors for survival. The six organisms that we dissected in this course are the following: the earthworm, the clam, the crawfish, the starfish, the perch, and the fetal pig. We will discuss each organism’s digestive system associated with their eating habits, discuss the changes in the digestive systems from the more primitive to the more advanced, and discuss how these advanced characteristics improved the efficiency of the organism’s digestive system.
Raffaello Sanzio, known as Raphael, was an Italian painter and architect born in the mountain town of Urbino. In his early years, Raphael was trained by his father Giovanni Santi, a court painter and versifier, allowing him to gain a wide education in the arts, literature, and social skills. This enabled Raphael to move easily amongst the higher circles of court society and this helped him gain recognition. “His career falls naturally into three phases and three styles, first described by Giorgio Vasari: his early years in Umbria, then a period of about four years (from 1504-1508) absorbing the artistic traditions of Florence, followed by his last hectic and triumphant twelve years in Rome, working for two Popes and their close associates.” (Raphael Biography)
-I feel that this projected related to this class and the discussions for this class. How people interpret things individually this project not only look at the fact but also someone’s option. I think I could use this process in psychology, to better analyze how others process their thoughts.
3- Third lesson, The students will know the digestive system so they will make a chart about the system. they have to read the version by BDA method sheet .dissuasion the educational answers . Display model of the intestines
Discussion: In her class, she just simply grades worksheets every day and most of her students understood the new contents, maybe just a few errors but rare are only two students who miss a lot of questions. When she grades their papers they miss the most but she doesn't necessary fix the problem. If those two student were in m classroom, instead of giving them a worksheet that the will usually miss a lot, I would find a different method of assessment, so I am not setting them up for failure by giving them another worksheet.
From the beginning of time, the Greeks thoughts on illness and disease was that it was a divine punishment. They believed that if a person fell ill it was because they were not living their life right and were being punished by the gods so that they would turn their life around and live more spiritually so as to please the gods. An good example of this is epileptic ceizures. “Since an epileptic fit is very sudden and striking, the condition was naturally attributed to the patient’s violent possession by a god” (Jouanna, Allies, Eijk, 2012). When men and women would have these fits, they were assumed to be possessed very aggressively by the gods for their wrongdoings or immoral behavior and this was seen as their punishment. In an attempt to
Accordingly, the practice of problem-posing education entails at the outset that the teacher-student contradiction be solved” (Freire 323). Freire believes that all the barriers need to be broken down in between the teachers and students so that both can learn from one another. My senior year my AP Biology teacher was teaching the course for the first time in his teaching career, and he relied heavily on a classroom like this. As seniors, we knew him personally, and he relied on our feedback to improve his teaching skills for the course in following years. “The teacher is no longer merely the-one-who-teaches, but one who is himself taught in dialogue with the students, who in turn while being taught also teach” (Freire 324). As we learned more about the wonderful world of biology, our teacher also learned how to better teach his
Pick your favorite food. Describe what happens to it as it passes from your mouth to your colon. What are the major steps along the way: My favorite food being watermelon will go on a relatively quick trip through the digestive system. The first obvious stage is when the watermelon enters the mouth, inside it is crushed by the teeth into an easy to swallow state of basically being water. When it hits the bottom of the stomach, cell signaling will being and trigger the gastric juice to begin digesting it further. Almost all the the sugar will be injected into the blood, and anything left over will be further broken down to be stored or
Feces is often viewed as a vile excrement from the body of an organism, however the journey, and effort one takes to defecate and release this digestive work of art is marvelous, and in so many color should be celebrated as a digestive odyssey. Today people view fecal matter as something to be flushed away, but what if I told our society that feces is often used in many of our “freshening” products like perfumes. Sperm Whales release a substance with their feces that is not only a common ingredient in many luxury perfumes, but one that is greatly valued. In fact one lucky man was able to trade his hunk of sperm whale feces for the price of two million dollars.
Naima is the most prepared student that I have seen in my class, possessing the qualities of helping others out which make her of becoming a good health professional. She is one of the most driven students that I have dealt with as the Head of Dept. Such determination
In the 4th quarter of 7th Grade Science the class finished the IMYC unit of curiosity which focused on different forms of energy and moved on to a unit called respect where the topics were electricity and magnetism. Formative assessments continued to consist of practice questions related to the content we were studying and evaluation questions about experiments we did. The summative assessments for the quarter were a lab report about a heat insulators experiment designed by the students, a test about different forms of energy, and an electromagnetic technology poster project. Next year students in 8th grade at HIS will continue to study an integrated series of science topics.
In contrast to the often passive lecture environment, laboratory classes provide an opportunity for active “hands-on” learning, where students can apply and engage with the material learned in lecture. For many students, labs are where their enthusiasm and interest in the material is stimulated. However, if the experiments appear unconnected to the theory learned in class, or unrelated to everyday life or the student’s major, they can be viewed as busy work: come to class, follow a set procedure, collect data, fill in datasheet, discuss the results then repeat the next week, rather than a learning opportunity. This is especially true of introductory labs were students are learning basic procedures. Consequently, a well prepared TA who clearly explains the relevance of the experiment can have a large impact is how the lab is perceived.
