• Rationale: Adolescents age 15 to 19. • Projected time frame: 6 months. • Short-term impact: Student will gain knowledge about chlamydia, what it is, how it contracted, prevention methods, and where to go to get tested and treated for chlamydia. • Long-term impact: There will be a decrease in the cases of chlamydia in Butte County Program Objectives The program has two objectives which are: • Each adolescent will be able to state what chlamydia is, how chlamydia is contracted, ways to prevent contracting chlamydia and where to go to get tested and treated for chlamydia, at the end of the teaching session. • Each adolescent will be able to state why it is important to be tested for chlamydia at the end of the teaching session. Description of Program Prevention is the key to never having to say I have chlamydia program will consist of a 90-minute class that will be held at each specific location on Thursday, rotating through all the locations two times, at each location in the Butte County area at 5:00 o’clock. The participants will be recruited from the community by public health workers, teachers and parents by passing out flyers and consent papers to be signed by parents throughout Butte County communities. Each meeting will be led by a nurse who is educated on chlamydia disease, how its contracted and prevention methods. The nurse will introduce herself and have the participates introduce themselves.
