Being successful at something is very easy if you follow someone else’s steps. However other people rather be themselves and make it on their own in their unique way. For example, most young musicians try to use the technique of other famous or more experienced musicians. They rather take the easy way instead of trying to become someone of themselves and change the technique into their own and maybe it could be better than the professionals. This happens in almost anything and everywhere not only to musicians but also to businessmen, actors, chefs, and athletes. I'm more related to athletes because i am an athlete. When i started to play sports i admired Ray Lewis, a professional football player, because his technique of tackling was so amazing
First Lieutenant Alonzo H. Cushing distinguished himself by acts of bravery above and beyond the call of duty while serving as an artillery commander in Battery A, 4th U.S. Artillery, Army of the Potomac at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania on July 3rd, 1863 during the American Civil War. That morning, Confederate forces led by General Robert E. Lee began cannonading First Lieutenant Cushing's position on Cemetery Ridge. Using field glasses, First Lieutenant Cushing directed fire for his own artillery battery. He refused to leave the battlefield after being struck in the shoulder by a shell fragment. As he continued to direct fire, he was struck again - this time suffering grievous damage to his abdomen. Still refusing to abandon his
Two drunken white men raped a young black girl, Tonya Hailey, who was walking from a small store where she bought groceries. When the news reached her father, Carl Lee Hailey, he went to their hearing, where he shot and killed the two men, while also wounding a police officer. Carl Lee hires a white attorney, Jake Brigance, to represent him in court. Many people and organizations, such as the Ku Klux Klan, tried to sabotage Brigance’s likelihood of winning the case. With the help of a liberal law student, Brigance successfully acquitted Carl Lee Hailey for the murders of the two rapists.
Robert Henry Lawrence Jr. was the first African-American astronaut to be selected for space travel. Robert graduated Englewood High School in the top 10 percent of his class. He later became an air force pilot and later was selected for space travel. Robert is considered the first black astronaut to be selected for space travel but does it count if he died before going into space? Furthermore, his name was written on the Space Mirror (which is a list of all the people who have died in space related accidents) for the astronauts those astronauts who have died. His name was first considered before going into space because they didn't know whether they were allowed to write his name on the Space Mirror because he did not physically go to
Barry Sanders was, if not the best, one of the greatest football running backs in the history of the NFL. Barry was a hard worker at home, and that is what carried him in the game of football. This, in the end, is what helped him achieve a legendary status. In general, Barry Sanders was one of the most versatile football players, but was also a very quiet person on the inside.

Many look at Jazz Musician Ray Chaeles as being the ‘Father of Soul’, as he virtually created Soul music. By bring together the genera’s of gospel, blues, country, and jazz, Charles was able to create a groundbreaking style of music that had not yet been heard of in the music industry.
My famous American is… Ray Lewis. Ray has been through many struggles like one of them was when born in the incubator, his father left him.Ray’s mom needed someone to sign the birth papers and he was Ray Lewis, Mr. Lewis was seeing Ray’s mom so he signed the birth papers. Mr Lewis was in the army and he was shipped off to fight for American and Ray never saw him, until his junior year of high school in a local food market. Ray never got to see his biological father but, Ray said it was for the better because Ray should not been involved in that type of stuff. Ray said it was funny because Ray’s biological dad and ray are friends now.

If I had a chance to meet anyone in this whole entire world, it would be my favorite football player Ray Lewis. Ray Lewis emerged from a small town in Bartow Florida to become the best NFL most feared defensive linebacker of the modern era. He was recruited by the University of Miami back in 1996 as a first round pick for the Baltimore Ravens. He played seventeen exciting long years in the NFL before retiring. I truly believe he is the most inspiring athlete of all time. I grew up watching Ray Lewis at the tender age of 1. He has been an inspiration in my life forever.
In the book Outliers, the author Malcolm Gladwell elucidates that people have to practice for more than 10,000 hours or 10 years in order to fully become successful. People can achieve more regardless of not being financially wealthy. Even though some people that have practiced for less than 10,000 hours did achieve their goals, the majority of the successful people have practiced for more than 10,000 hours. Gladwell states that, “they work much, much harder” (39). and that they have to want to stand out from everyone else. I believe that very successful people are lucky, and have talent, and are willing to work harder than everyone else.
You’re too small, you’re not big enough, you’re not fast enough to be the best and stay there, you don’t have what it takes. In today’s football league there’s nothing better like it was to me when Ray Lewis was playing the game. A unique football player to me was somebody that controlled himself like a real man. He was responsible even outside of the football field. He carried himself as a leader, that’s why I like him. He didn’t worry about what others thought and he believed in himself and show others how it was to be great.
This is not the way that life works. If one looks at the history they will see that everyone who is extraordinarily good at what he does must have put in a ton of effort, nobody can just start something and be the greatest of all time, it just doesn’t happen.
Malcolm Gladwell’s perception of people’s pathways to success is biased, because he implied that success is based off of the advantages they’re given. For instance, the examples he gave in this chapter were all of people who had talent, but were also afforded huge opportunities that directly aligned them on the path to succeed. He did not, however, acknowledge those who became successful based on their individuality. Success based on individuality is far more meaningful and valued than success based on handouts.
The push to keep training and maintaining the discipline of a Basketball player despite the initial rejection makes Michael Jordan iconic. He knew that the way to the top would not be easy, but he was determined to do all it takes to get there. This shows that no one who truly wants to make a mark should think that life is a bed of roses. There is something to overcome; there are disciplines to maintain if we want to get to great heights. We can overcome obstacles like a genius when we pattern our lives to do the things that geniuses do.
