The thesis of my study will be to understand a woman’s perception of abortion and depression: the view on the relationship between the two. My study will be focused on how much a woman knows about abortion, ways to cope with the abortion, and the relationship abortion may have with depression whether it is pre-abortion or post-abortion. The purpose of the paper is to find the relationship between abortion and depression and how it affects a woman’s lifestyle. Therefore I decided to use surveys to help me obtain a better understanding of this concept. This is a sensitive topic for me to speak about but my work must get done. The issue of abortion came into my life at the age of eighteen. I have always been Pro-Life but in the instant second that I was placed into my own situation it became reality. Going through a first abortion for me was difficult post-abortion instead of pre-abortion. I was flushed with many different views on the way I would raise a baby along with am I capable of raising a baby at such a young age. At first I was focused on having the baby but then I realized there are more responsibilities to have a baby than just playing with the baby and staying up late at night.
When the decision of having an abortion came into play I was only nervous about how I would feel after, never did I imagine there would be so many emotions that I would experience while waiting for the procedure to occur. I chose to go to Planned Parenthood to have the procedure done and once I stepped foot inside and took a good look at all the women that were inside a tremble ran throughout my body. Noticing the choices that were about to be made conflicted with my own choice. Still I knew that this was something that I felt deep down inside was the best thing that needed to be done.
