Kisen Goforth Erin Glick English 11 April 2024 Ready Player 1 Book Report Discover how Wade Watts in the book Ready Player One by Ernest Cline completely changes who they are for a contest, and why it is such a big deal. Wade Watts takes on a new identity, Bryce Lynch. Wade does this to escape IOI, and to focus on the competition for the egg. After Wade finds the copper key (the first part of the puzzle to find the egg), he has a target on his head. A company called IOI - who are trying to cheat to find the egg - invited Wade to an online interview. They offered him a high ranking position at their company for a walk through on how to get the copper key. Wade says no, and IOI threatens to blow up his house if he does not agree. “‘If you log …show more content…

After losing everything Artemis, his home, his old life he decides to hide under this new name and start a new life. A life inside his apartment where every waking moment of his life is devoted to finding the silver key, and uncovering Holidays Easter egg. This was one of the biggest parts of the story in my opinion because Wade was severely depressed and it was a big character growth for him. One point Wade was over eating, and eating unhealthy “I also had a habit of overeating when I was depressed or frustrated, which was most of the time. As a result, I’d gradually started to put on some extra sounds” (Cline 156) Wade showed restraint, and a want for change when he turned the OASIS fitness lock down software which wouldn't let him log into his OASIS account until he had burned a certain amount of calories according to what he had eaten that day. It helped him get back in shape. “My computer monitored my vital signs and kept track of exactly how many calories I burned during the course of each day. If I didn't meet the daily exercise requirements, the system prevented me from logging into my OASIS account.” (Cline 156) After Wade implemented this he started to get into better shape and started to feel better feeling less sick, and more ready for each day. This part of the story really shows how Wade worked through the loneliness and
The differences between the story and the movie “Most Dangerous Game” are that the characters were different.. The setting was also different and everything was explained. In the early part of the story it begins with a guy named Rainsford who was riding in a boat. A fellow traveler was on the boat with him and they were having a conversation. They were talking about the island they passed by. The island was dressed in unfounded rumors. Noises Rainsford heard were odd that night. He got up out his bed and went to check them and he accidently falls overboard. He was not able to climb back on the boat. In 1932, RKO released a movie of the story titled the same “Most Dangerous Game”.
Matt and I were put into a vault with lots of people who also lived in Boston with us. Matt and I got chosen as runners. The runner's job was to find caps, clothing, food and purified water. We got missions and other jobs from the overseer and other people who needed help. When we were looking for supplies and doing missions we came across two dogs, one that was named Dogmeat and another dog that we named Sparky. Matt and I walk through two big hills and saw lots of big things that we called deathclaws. Deathclaws are really big ugly things that have really big claws. It took a long time to kill these guys because they are really strong and powerful. Good thing we had a mini nuke and a really nice rocket launcher called a fatman.
I personally believe that there are some partial relations between Ready Player One and the Holocaust. Granted the book is not the exact same context as the Holocaust, based on some things that happened during the Holocaust, Ex. Dehumanization, Killing of Jewish people, etc, I still think there is a partial relationship between the two.

In the fictional novel, Ready Player One, by Ernest Cline, the main character, Wade Watts makes a joke about a comparision of being signed up to a corporation and rolling around in glass naked. Wade Watts lives in the year 2044 and it is a disaster. Living in post-apocalyptic Oklahoma City, his only get away from reality is to escape to the virtual reality of the OASIS. The OASIS is a giant video game that takes the player away to a different virtual world than the one they are living in. Wade is usually online in the OASIS because he feels that it is the safest and most fun place to be in. He is in his last year of highschool and he was telling the readers that he said he would much rather prefer being a full time “gunter” (a person dedicated

In the book Zaroff took better care of Rainford. In the movie the tree didn’t fall on zaroff but, in the book it hit in in the shoulder .

Lone Survivor by Marcus Luttrell was a very good book to me. Not only did it talk about military and SEAL stuff, it taught me things about life that other people have not told me. The SEALS had to train every day so that they could be ready. The training paid off for Marcus as he returned home alive from the bloody mission with a lot of wounds. Marcus taught me to never give up even when we think we can't do something.
The book Nineteen Minutes ended with an shocking conclusion. In the scene Peter Houghton had just finished shooting his way through the school, when he encountered his old best friend Josie Cormier and his long-time bully Matt Royston in the locker room of the high school gym. When Peter held up his gun to shoot Matt, Josie screamed which startled Peter, and made him drop his backpack which caused another gun to fall out of his bag. The gun skittered across the floor and Josie grabbed the gun and pointed it at Peter while Matt cowered behind her. In this moment Josie had the decision to either shoot Peter or let him kill Matt and possibly her. Shocking the two boys and herself Josie turns around and shoots Matt in th stomach instead. As
The books I decided on checking out included the titles Half of a Yellow Sun by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and Noughts & Crosses by Malorie Blackman. I have been interested in these particular novels for quite some time since they were on my summer reading list. These books were on my list because I enjoy stories that discuss race. Needless to say, I never had the chance to read either book for various reasons. Entering the DePaul library, I was not looking for any specific title. I remembered my summer list and searched for the two titles. Half of a Yellow Sun was not available through the DePaul campus library. I was then advised by the librarian to have it transferred from another

game, just to avoid being harassed by men around them. That situation may sound ridiculous to and can upset a majority of the population. One should not feel the need to hide their real gender just to attend a baseball game. So why should women feel the need to hide their gender in online gaming? According to a Tedx Talk speaker Stirling Little, sixty-eight percent of women playing video games have reported hiding their real gender for fear of harassment. If someone were to identify themselves as a woman online, it would be unavoidable to receive sexist comments from other players. As a society we have accepted the idea of harassing women as a social norm. In the novel Ready Player one by Ernest Cline, [basics of the book/summary] we are introduced to examples of characters hiding their genders online in order to be taken more seriously. We can compare Ready Player One to today’s society when it comes to gender issues. In both the novel and society, women have limited job opportunities, are objectified for their sex, and are associated with feminine phrases used by others to insult someone. The public has to start caring about how they treat women online because they make up more than half of the gaming population. If people really want their games to stop following the gender stereotypes, they need to look at themselves as a whole and change the way they think.
