Reality changes from person to person. Whether something is real or not is determined through the individual. One may think it’s true whereas the other may believe differently. It is common to form misconceptions on a subject that is relatively new and upcoming. Sports are generally one of the most common ways we conquer boredom. This entertainment involves, according to the Oxford Dictionary, physical exertion as well as brain stimulation. With technology emerging, the online gaming industry has become a vast media culture. Connecting millions across the world, the online gaming world provides users with an interactive database which engages both their body and their intellect. Gamers learn to utilize their problem solving skills and are forced to come up with strategies that require quick decisions. E sports encourage participants to train their brains so that they are able to deliver a rapid response in certain situations. Gamers face a great deal of pressure as they conform to the world of entertainment and competition. Therefore, E sports should be considered real as online gamers and sports athletics both provide an audience with a source of entertainment as well as being competitive.
The entertainment industry provides its audience a way to release tension by showcasing various talents that stimulate the brain. Audiences enjoy watching the players practice and so for online games, such as the popular games known as League of Legends, gamers stream themselves training.
Whether it’s playing video games or watching video games, we get filled with an intoxicating feeling to play or watch more. Throughout generations, there has been an increase of people playing video games and about half the population in the United States plays video games. Since 1980, video games are taken to a different level with eSports, which is competitive electronic gaming tournaments with other competitors. In 2000 to the present , eSports grew in popularity and became known worldwide because of the game “League of Legends”. In 2011 “LoL” tournament ranked over 1.6 million views worldwide and during a “LoL” championship in 2015 over 36 million people were viewing the game. ESport raises this question: “Do video games counts as sports?” Video games do not count as a sport because it does not match the criteria of a sport, video games are luck-based, and are unhealthy.
Sports are very vital. They offer a lifestyle, an occupation, and even a dream. Sports require physical activity and skill in which a team or an individual compete against others for entertainment. As David G. McComb comments in "Sports in World History", "there is a high degree of training, investment, and coaching, along with spectators, rules, publicity, and institutional control that come along with these activities." While participating in sports, it is required to be able to undertake a difficult situation and perform the best out of it. Sports are definitely more than just a game.
Video games have become very popular in the past several years. Recently, people have even been making careers out of gaming. The article “Should Pro Gamers be considered Athletes?” talks about whether not professional gamers should be considered athletes. Pro gamers shouldn’t be considered athletes because they aren’t doing anything

The film Second Skin provided a large coverage of the effects of massive multiplayer online games on the players and the people around them. This film was used to shed light on what actually occurs in a gamers’ life and their perspective on their “hobby”. The point that jumped out the most would be the fact that excessive gaming can be as addictive as drugs and as a result can have mental and social repercussions. The fact is that online gamers find it difficult to draw the fine line when a game is for passing time and when it officially becomes a problem.
Before I start discussing video games I would like to explore the ideas of how cultures emerge and how this eventually relates to my study. Lehman, D. R., Chiu, C.-Y., & Schaller, M. (2004) in ‘Annual review of Psychology’ define culture as “represents a coalescence of discrete behavioural norms and cognitions shared by individuals within some definable population that are distinct from those shared within other populations” These beliefs and behaviour whatever they may be in any culture can give us a backing for realising individual or group goals that can often be categorised in a variety of formal or informal ways. For example we could look at the eSports international events of League of legends as a formal organization of a culture in effect, we have official merchandise, promotions, advertising, a massive fan base and of course the athletes
A rather new debate in the world of sports is, “are video gamers considered athletes?” There has been a massive increase in the amount of people playing video games in recent years. The games themselves have evolved to demand much more attention and skill than required than in the years of pong. Video game tournaments are becoming more popular than ever. The number of competitors can extend into the thousands with even more in attendance.
Throughout this paper we will view two reasons why I feel playing video games should not be consider a sport. Sports are considered to be a physical activity and playing videos is less physical and contributes more to the mind. Videogames should not be considered a sport because sports require you to be more physical. Playing video games its more hands on
The gaming industry grew 4 times faster than the US economy in 2012 by bringing in $6.2 billion dollars into the economy. (Nick Statt). Some of the reasons that gaming is bringing in money is mainly by sales whether it is putting out games, downloading content, gaming tournaments involving the game, and advertising the game in giveaways. Video games bring people together; it requires a tremendous amount of skill, strategy, team-work and determination. Traditional sports such as basketball and football involve physical movement of the whole body but video games are limited to only using your hands but that doesn’t mean it should be overlooked as a sport.
“The Rules are simple, destroy the enemy, take their flag” Video games are a skillful, and mindful entertainment; the only differences-sports requires more physical training and less mind tuition, while video games require more of the latter. Major League Gaming needs to write a letter to the Government to make video games a sport.
In 150 years from now, the world will change drastically. We will have extreme environmental changes, severe changes in our languages and significant changes in human evolution. First, since the environment is changing over the years, going forward, we will try and find a way to save and create energy simply by installing solar panels on every building to convert sun waves into energy. Global warming has been a struggle, getting worse and worse every year, so that leads us to think that in the future, the ice caps in Antarctica will have all likely been melted. More people tend to throw their recycles or composts in the trash rather than taking the time to sort out what goes in which bin. Since we have been doing this for more than 100 years, it is more likely that we will not be able to reverse the damage we have done to the planet. Therefore the pollution will not get better but we can try to keep it from getting worse.
How can change be part of our life? It is part of our life, all livings things is part of it, but can you think how we change one day to another with our actions. Be the change you wish to see in the world. Change can be good or bad.
Imagine a large arena filled with two competitive teams. The tension grows and finally, one team prevails and is greeted by stupendous amounts of cheering. There are a wide variety of video games that are popular worldwide, and are played by many different people. Video games, and gaming in general, should be considered to be added in the many sport selections because of how similar it is to any other sport: how pro players that get paid, and how a lot of talent is necessary to play.
Competitive gaming, also known as e-sports, is becoming a worldwide phenomenon. With huge events and tournaments that are watched by millions of passionate fans, many people are beginning to question whether playing video games can be considered a real sport. Even though e-sports may not be as physically demanding as traditional sports like football and basketball, the structure, strong fan base and the requirements to seriously contend in the competitive gaming scene legitimize it as a “real” sport.
A large gap exists between the public's perception of video games and what the research actually shows. The following is an attempt to separate fact from fiction.
