Reasons for College I’ve learned that most people decide to go to college because it’s a safe choice. Even successful billionaires that we know today attended college. In today’s society people almost pressure us into going off to college. Some are influenced from a young age while others are influenced at a later time in life. I am part of the group that was influenced at a young age.
I was in elementary school when I first started hearing the word “college”. My parents would always tell my aunts and uncles that I would go off to college and get a great career. At this point I wouldn’t think much of it. During my middle school years, I realized that I was good at math and science. That’s when I started thinking about college, but it wasn’t
Due to the fact that a majority of people want a good amount of income, they choose to go to college. Majority of people choose to go to college so that they are able to receive a better salary and afford more possessions. Going to
After reading “Even for Cashiers College Pays Off” by David Leonhardt my decision to attend college did not change. When graduating from college with any degree give a better chance at life. The ability to get a better job that pays more and is within your interest are all possible because of the college degree one has acquired over the years. Even though many may think otherwise I have no choice but to attend because I promise my deceit sister that I will attend college to accomplish my dream of becoming a computer engineer. I intend to keep my promise because I never go back on my work. That's a fact.
This episode of Firefly begins en media res. Surprisingly I was able to follow the storyline even with the flashbacks. It shows us how each crew member came to be aboard the Serenity by flashing back to the past. The Serenity breaks down in the middle of nowhere leaving Captain Mal and his crew stranded and with little oxygen. Captain Mal orders his crew to leave the Serenity in two separate shuttles and head in two different directions. By doing so he hopes to increase the chances of getting help. Captain mal stays behind with his ship hoping that someone will pick up the signal that Wash the Serenity’s pilot released before boarding one of the shuttles.
After high school, many students make the decision on attending college based off of the things their parents/ teachers may have taught them when they were young. For example, many students further their education because throughout their lifetime they’re told they have to. In school we’re taught that in order for us to receive good jobs, and make a decent amount of money we have to have a college degree. Some are even taught that they must go beyond the undergrad and receive their masters, and doctorate degrees if they really want to be known as something in this world. While others go because it would make their parents proud, or to fulfill the legacy of being a first generation college student in their families. While this may be the case majority of the time, if you’re like me you go because
“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” - Nelson Mandela. In my honest opinion, I honestly think that college is important for people and there are various reasons regarding college is worth attending. Three of these reasons are that college graduates earn more rather than high school graduates, how college graduates have lower poverty rates than high school graduates, and that the children of college graduates are healthier and better prepared for school.
On the other hand, there are plenty of reasons that cause students to go to college is to end up financially stable. Going to college almost guarantees you a decent paying job after you graduate. Another reason that causes high school graduate students to go to college is to get a new change of scenery.
Is everyone pressuring you to go to college right out of high school? Well news flash, you don’t need to go to college right out of high school so be successful and make a lot of money! There are a lot of people who are very successful and they either: didn’t go to college at all, or went to college and realized it wasn’t for them and dropped out. There are a few reasons you should not go to college: You don’t need college to be successful, you will save a lot of money, and you can go to the work force.
I decided to go to college because I believe that education is an important part of life and that being educated has many advantages. Like many, one of the biggest reasons for deciding to attend college is to create a better future for myself. Being a first-generation college student my parents have implanted on me the importance of college education, as it is something they wish they would have done themselves. As the first of four children to go to college, I feel that it is my responsibility to be a good example to my younger siblings, and show them that it is important to have goals in life and to better yourself as a person through education. I understand that an university education may not be for everyone, but it felt like the right choice for me. What I hope to get out of college is a life-changing experience, not only to get a better education, but to find something I am truly passionate about. I think it is important when choosing a career or a major to find something your heart truly wants and not just a career that will make you able to afford expensive things. I also hope that somewhere along the path to graduation and adulthood, I find myself as a person and develop ideas, opinions, and to be able to approach the world with an
I began to think about college in 4th grade and my early years of middle school. My dad would talk to me about the kinds of schools and what my options will be. Even though my ideas changed, I thought about what I wanted to be when I was in elementary school. I believe that thinking about your career early can help you pick a school with a good program for your chosen career. When I was younger, I wanted to be a teacher or a veterinarian. However, I now want to be a surgeon. Now that I am looking at colleges, I look for ones with a good medical program. Students should also learn good study habits in elementary school and middle school, so they know how effectively study for high school, which counts for college. If a student
My sixth-grade teacher once asked my class if we wanted to go to college and I replied that I did not want to. I did not want to go to college because I thought that only those that had money could go. I had decided, before my parents could even think of asking me if I wanted to go, that I would not go to college to save my parents from debt. It until my sophomore year of high school that I had decided that I did want to go to college. My involvement in the Ivy League Project and being able to tour some of the most prestigious universities and listening to the stories of those that come from a similar background to mine gave me hope that I could be successful in college.
Why are you here? Most people go to college to make more money, to have job stability, to make their parents happy, but that’s not why I come to college. The reason I come to college is because I want to be a pediatric neurologist. I have known that I wanted to go to college to become a pediatric neurologist for quite a while. When I was younger I had right temporal lobe focal epilepsy and general grand mal epilepsy. The seizures were very severe, I had 15 seizures in just my seventh grade year at school. No one could figure out how to control the seizures at first and people started to give up on me and calling me a liar. Doctors started accusing me for not taking my medicine. I started to think I’d never be able to control
For people who have already attended and finished high school, one of the choices that they will have to make is to whether to continue with a higher education, or start walking and planning life right away. I decided to continue my education and try to get a degree in some field that I was interested in. Why did I decide to go to college? I decided to go to college for many reasons; therefore, I wanted to become successful, have an education, and I wanted to make sure that in the future I had a degree in a field that I really liked.
JP Morgan Chase & Co. is currently United States’ biggest bank, and the 6th biggest bank internationally with over 2.4 trillion dollars in assets. This financial juggernaut was formed in 2000, when Chase Manhattan Corporation and JP Morgan & Co merged. Currently, Chase is well known for their credit card line in America, and is responsible for consumer banking, while JP Morgan is well known internationally, and responsible for investment banking. Although JPMC is one of the world’s biggest banks, senior management at JPMC has continuously referred to the company as a technology company. Technology plays an astronomically more important role in banking because of convenience and security. JPMC currently has over 40,000 technologists, of which over 18,000 are software developers (Crowe). In comparison, Google, arguably the most renowned tech company in the world, has around 60,000 employees. With such an enormous staff of technologists and coders, JPMC, like any big tech corporation, must be concerned with employee production efficiency. Over my past summer as an intern, I’ve noticed that there is one key area that JPMC could improve on – keyboards. Every technologist at JPMC has their own area for their computer setup, and unsurprisingly, most technologists spend a majority of their time in front of their computer doing one task – typing. The keyboards provided by JPMC were basic plastic membrane keyboards that did not support any added functionality. Even as an intern, I
For me, the reason that why I go to the college is everyone in my senior high school does it.Most of students in Taiwan who have graduated from high school, they go to college rather than find a job. There are two reasons why I follow most of people’s footsteps to enter into college. First, I don’t truly realize what I pursue. Instead of thinking what I desire, I just has been taught to learn the knowledge of textbooks during schooldays. Second, I still have no ideas what kind of occupation is suitable for me. I consider that if I go to college, maybe I can get some ideas during four years. Therefore, I choose to continue with studying in order to figure out what I want to do in the future. In conclusion, I choose to follow most of people’s
Throughout Ancient history two primary individuals played a large role in shaping the society, governmental system, and Christian faith. Augustine, and Plato were both philosophers, that used their knowledge to further the Christian theology. These philosophers, with the help of their mentors and teachers, studied historic books and continued to teach their beliefs to the surrounding people.
