Why did I decide to attend college? I chose this path for my life when I was very young, both of my parents attended some form of higher education. They both ended up living fairly well, I decided that I wanted to be successful in life as well and that going to college would be an integral part of my future. I want to be able to live in comfort; be able to be a productive member of my community still, become an adult, and be able to understand things in a new light.

My reasons for returning to school may seem a bit selfish but let me explain. I have been an EMT and Paramedic for the past 28 years. The areas for advancement in this field are far and few between. Although I have over 10 years of experience as a supervisor, to be considered for a Director position, a Bachelor's Degree is required and here I am.

Graduating from high school can be a really exciting milestone in life. Senior year is very aggravating because students are trying to pass classes to get their diploma. After graduation everyone always asks, “Where are you going to go next?” College? , University? , Work.? Being the first to become a college student in my family meant a lot. I continued to keep with my studies. Going to college change most things of my daily life. Consequently I did not see what was coming in my way. Attending college was not cheap, finding time for school work is impossible, and knowing what I want to be for my career or degree can be overwhelming.

Returning back to school was a very natural decision for me. It seemed to be the next logical step in my personal and career goals. My ultimate goal is to be happy and healthy and be a good provider and role model. With that set aside for now, my next goal is to be financially stable and able to provide for my family in ways that my family was not able to provide for me. I definitely expect to work for what I want and earn every bit of it. The most recent motivator was that my company was willing to contribute a huge chunk of the yearly tuition, therefore removing some financial burden. This makes me feel like they truly care about my future and they really want to see me succeed.

The reasons I have decided to go back to school is because I want to further my education to better myself as a single mother, and I want to show my children that you should never give up on your goals no matter how challenging life can be. Also, I chose to go back to school so that I can boost my son's confidence level so when he does homework, I will be right by his side doing mines whether its researching, reading, or typing papers. My ultimate goal for using this degree is to receive additional pay through my employer once I have obtained my degree. Secondly, I want to expand my career in law

Six years after graduating High School, I have finally decided to pursue a college education. Three, fairly common, factors played in to my decision to go back to school: learning new things, building confidence in myself and pursuing my desired career. I understand that graduating college is a difficult task, which is why I must make a plan for my success and stick to it. I must also rely on my personal strengths and my motivation to guide me through the tough times that I am sure to experience on my road to success to get my degree in Criminal Justice. I decided to go back to school for many reasons. First of all, it's always been a personal goal of mine to get a bachelor's degree. Over the years, I have taken courses to get close to that goal but I haven't been successful with completing it yet due to life experiences. Another reason I have decided to return to school is because I realize it's going to help with my career. I chose to go back to school for several reasons. Two of those reasons are for a career advancement and financial stability. Everyone when they were younger say what they want to be when they older right? My plan was to always go to college after high school. Reading your comments brought back some memories for me like you after high school going to college was not in the cards for me so I joined the military and this lead to adventures in life such as marriage. Now going back to college can be challenging for the new normal known as non-traditional students, but we know what this degree means to us in getting a better position where we currently work at or it will open doors to unlimited possibilities.
