Rebellion Monologue

The government had been disbanded long ago. The laws thrown away and forgotten, history changed, and humanity lost. People called it “ultimate freedom” My grandmother would gauff and say, “Freedom? Ha! Free from what exactly? Safety?” She was a child when everything went wrong. At the time she thought it sounded great, but as she grew older and when we walked through the streets together she just saw the pain and mayhem it caused. She’s been gone for a few years now. Before she passed she made me promise to find the Rebellion. I never thought the Rebellion was real, it was always talked about in hushed tones, a hopeless dream. I looked up and saw a tall man dressed in all black, reaching his hand out to me. “Are you okay?” he asked me. “Um yeah I guess so” I stammered. “What is your name?” he asked. That’s how I met Jack. He was apart of the Rebellion and was on his way to base when he saw the men grab me. After he saved me, Jack took me with him to base and essentially brought me into the Rebellion. Now we’re planning an invasion to the capital to take control. I’m leading my team into the remains of what was the called the White House years ago. In there we will set up a barrier for the leaders to start the new way of life. My team and I are on the move toward the White House. We are taking the back roads to avoid the scavengers and thieves. I hear rustling to the right of us. I look over quickly to see if someone's there. “Brian and Molly, go check over there in the weeds, I think I hear something” I whisper to our best shots. The rest of us lay low until they come back. After a few minutes they return, “Nothing’s out there boss” says Molly. “Okay, everyone let’s keep moving” I shout. As we near the town I start to get a bad feeling. The streets are empty, the beggars gone, and the world
